This is the final design of the opening poster for the coffee shop. I decided to keep with the natural theme when designing the poster as this the main focus for the rebranding of the shop. I used brown colours and natural looking images of coffee and food to also stick with the theme of “good quality” ingredients as a unique selling point for the new rebranding. The main body text of the poster is positioned in the centre as it is easy to read and is the main focus point of the poster. My poster meets the design specification as it includes the name of the shop, data of opening and location of the shop. I did not include the logo on the final poster as I felt like it did not need it due to spacing. If the logo was added it would make the structure and spacing of the poster look unprofessional. When editing the images for the poster I chose to add a filter to them all to make them blend into the background more and look more professional and uniform.

Creative Design Brief
Greasy Greg currently works in Derby selling food to the public via a fast food truck. The company wants to expand and change their brand in a different way to attract new and different customers. Opening a coffee shop would provide new opportunities for the company to reinvent themselves as they will have a property to sell from, this will be located next to the museum in the city centre. He has chosen me to help start up and create a new image for the company.
The main objectives the company wants to achieve is expansion and rebranding. Greg wants the company to be transformed into a more professional brand in the hope he will attract more customers and provide himself with a sustainable income. My person goal for the company is to create this new brand for him. I will do this buy coming up with a suitable and attractive name for customers, creating a professional logo and anything else that will help start up the business.
The target audience for the new coffee shop are people who are looking for good naturally sourced ingredients and good quality coffee. The price of the coffee and food will be affordable to attract students and also businessmen who can grab food and coffee on the go.

These posters are propaganda posters from the war. These were used to make people join the army to fight for their country. The simple use of one image of a man pointing directly at the reader makes it feel personal as it is like they are talking to you. The main text on the poster is big and bold so that the reader can easily see it and read it. The use of colour is effective as the man on the right “Uncle Sam” is wearing the colours of America making the poster seem patriotic and makes people want to join more. The use of important characters makes the poster more persuasive as it is like an order from an army general.

This is a good poster as it is very simple and minimalist as it only contains one image and a title. This is good as it draws focus to the main points of the poster, the title and a key image from the film. The use of the red background implies that the film is violent as red is the colour of blood. The use of contrast works well as it makes the title of the film stand out the most on the poster. The other text on the poster is white which also makes it easy to read as red and white compliment eachother

This is an effective looking poster due to many different factors. The logo for the film is positioned at the top of the poster placed on a dark background making it stand out more. The poster also features images of the main character and the car from the film. This is good design as it gives people an insight into the movie before they have seen it yet. The effective use of colour draws attention to the poster making people want to read it. The main text of the poster is the people who are in the film this is good as people who want to see the film know who is in it before they will watch it. Another good aspect to the poster is that it is filled out well meaning that there is very little blank space. The designer has found the perfect balance between images and text.

This poster is a bad example of poster design. This is because there is too much text on it. This makes the poster bad as the text overwhelms the graphics and images on the poster. Another negative feature of the poster is that the use of colour is poor. They use too many different colours that do not compliment eachother. This makes some of the text hard to read as it is lost in the different colours. There is also very little structure to the poster creating an unorganised and unprofessional look. This is not good as if a poster does not look good people will not want to look at it. The poster uses many different fonts which also makes it hard to read as there is too much going on. The information on the poster is also too much as posters should just have relevant details.

This poster is good as there is a suitable amount of both text and imagery. This is effective because the person viewing the poster does not have too much to read. The image is centered in the middle of the page. This ensures that peoples focus will be on the graphic and the text which is inside it. The poster uses contrast with the black and yellow to make the title of the movie stand out. This works well as it is also in the center meaning that it is easily read by the target audience. However, the poster also has negative aspects as it does not have any indication when it is being released. The artwork has been done well as it is batman drawn out of bats giving the poster a creative and unique look. The font used on the poster is good as it hints at the dark and gritty storyline of Batman. As the film is called “The Dark Knight Rises” the poster compliments the title as the graphic on the poster symbolises batman rising as he is made out of multiple bats.

Budgeting
When researching budgeting for my graphic design project I found out that the average graphic designer earns around £15,000 to £19,000 a year. However, once you've gained some experience, this can rise to £27,000. At the middle level, you can expect to earn around £25,000 to £35,000. Salaries for senior graphic designers or creative leads range from £35,000 to £55,000.
Per day the average designer ears around £29,100/260 = £111.92
Per hour they will earn £111.92/8 = £13.99
So far during the coffee shop project I have spent around 40 hours designing things for the company. If I charged the average rate of £13.99 an hour then I would have made £559.60.

The black and white logo is identical to the colour one as consistency with logos is important when branding.

Coffee House feedback
The name I decided to choose for the new coffee shop was "Backwood Coffee House" this is because I want to go with a theme of natural coffee and products. The natural theme will attract more customers as this is a unique selling point for a business. The name of the shop also clearly states what type of business it is, which also eliminates confusion for customers. When presenting the idea to the group they also agreed that the name was a good idea as the shops target audience is people looking for good natural souced ingredients and coffee. The prices will be offardable to attract both students and also avid coffee lovers
