It can be pretty difficult to free yourself from living the life that others want for you, especially when so many of our experiences are shaped by what others want. I understand my parents want me to be happy, but I can also accept that their idea of achieving happiness may look different from mine. Those around us usually do want the best for us! But it’s always good to reflect on when your desires and their desires diverge.

Your positive steps count! I’ve been trying to be more healthy, and I’ve tried walking a little more each day. It’s small, but I’m going in the right direction!

Being “ghosted” by someone you have been intimate with or close to has got to be one of the most degrading and hurtful moments of a person’s life.
The bare minimum in human decency is to communicate that you no longer wish to know someone; there is never a benefit to ignoring them and disappearing from their life.
Being ghosted leads to so many self hating thoughts such as believing you are worthless, forgettable, unattractive, boring etc. (side note: you aren’t any of these things!).
To somebody thinking of ghosting: if you are “done” with someone, please just kindly explain to them what is going on with you. Try and avoid disappearing from their life with zero explanation.
To somebody who has been ghosted recently: I’m so sorry, I know it hurts, but it has nothing to do with you and is 100% on the person ghosting you. Please don’t take it personally, you are amazing.

Friends, I did a big life thing! I’m not quite ready to share with the world yet, but I could use any support for my art or in general! This comic is basically a message to myself, and I’m doing my best not to tear up at this warm little chibird. 😅

As you all may know, I am an Asian American, and the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in the US is tragic and terrifying. A few years ago, my mother and I had unprovoked, racist threats spat at us while we were simply grocery shopping. They didn’t care who we were as people- they just reduced us to our race. I want this space to be positive and encouraging for everyone, and that’s not possible unless I make this space clearly anti-racist. I hope this comic is a hopeful reminder that we’re all able to make the world a better place together! I can’t stop anything alone, but together, we can make a more caring society that welcomes and protects people of all races.

Oftentimes, it hurts the more we resist the sadness. It makes me feel frustrated and guilty when I fight my sadness, so I’ve learned to just ride it out instead until I can feel calmer and ready for happiness again. 🌊
