Jason Hickel: Why a Liberated Palestine Threatens Global Capitalism w/ an excerpt below
"A struggle for the economic liberation of the South is fundamentally antithetical to the capitalist world economy. Because accumulation in the [imperial] core depends utterly on the cheapening of labour and resources in the global South. […] So any attempt by liberation struggles in the periphery to achieve economic independence - to use their own resources for their own development, for their own ecological transitions, for their own human needs - is destabilizing for capital in the core, and capital reacts with the most extraordinary violent backlashes. […] The situation in Palestine, we have to understand, is not primarily a moral one. That's how we think of it. That is not how capital thinks of it. For them it is a matter of suppressing and crushing liberation movements. Because a liberated Palestine means a liberated Middle East. A liberated Middle East means capitalism in the core really faces a crisis, and they will not let that happen. And they're unleashing the full violence of their extraordinary power to ensure it doesn't."

I have finally reached Eddie overload. Stranger Things and 9-1-1 are getting blocked. Venom may continue, because they don't show up nearly as much, and I sometimes get lessons on endocrinology.

Home is a People - 2021

This series is part of my BFA thesis, focusing on the mundane and 'boring' parts of transmasculine life. I love these boys! If you attended NCECA this year, you may have gotten a peek at my bathroom t-shot fellas.

Look.
I have made you a chart. A very simple chart.
People say "You have to draw the line somewhere, and Biden has crossed it-" and my response is "Trump has crossed way more lines than Biden".
These categories are based off of actual policy enacted by both of these men while they were in office.
If the ONLY LINE YOU CARE ABOUT is line 12, you have an incredible amount of privilege, AND YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PALESTINIANS. You obviously have nothing to fear from a Trump presidency, and you do not give a fuck if a ceasefire actually occurs. You are obviously fine if your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones are hurt. You clearly don't care about the status of American democracy, which Trump has openly stated he plans to destroy on day 1 he is in office.

award-winning palestinian children's illustrator baraa awoor writes:
"what use is it to be an illustrator of children's books when the world has sentenced the children of your country to the death penalty, to vanish, to genocide?"
some of baraa's illustrations:
this is an illustration for youssef, whose mother is remembered running desperately into the hospital asking if anyone had seen a "small white boy with beautiful curly hair, his name is youssef," a description which was remembered by millions when she finally identified his body:
this illustration is for young omar, who was hugging his little brother and teaching him how to repeat the shahada after him (a prayer spoken by muslims before their death) as he lay on his hospital bed:
"we want a new year that doesn't kill us or our children, we want it a year without blood, without screaming, without pain, we want a new attempt to get our lives back, or something that resembled our life, even if life is a lie we still cling to it, return life to us—a new year's card unlike any other year:"
