Why You Must Avoid Steel for Storing These 5 Foods
Stainless steel containers are a staple in many kitchens due to their durability, non-staining properties, and modern look. However, not all foods are suitable for storage in steel vessels. Some ingredients can react with the metal, causing changes in taste, texture, or nutritional value, and in some cases, they may even become unsafe to eat. Here are five foods you should never store in steel containers:
1. Curd (Yogurt)
Curd is acidic and can react with stainless steel. This reaction may alter its taste and degrade its probiotic properties. Additionally, the reaction can sometimes release trace amounts of heavy metals from the steel, making it harmful for consumption. Always store curd in glass or ceramic containers instead.
2. Pickles
Indian pickles are made with vinegar, salt, lemon, and spices — all of which are highly acidic. When stored in steel containers, pickles can corrode the surface and lead to a metallic taste. Over time, this not only spoils the pickle but also contaminates it with metal ions. Use glass jars or food-grade plastic for storing pickles safely.
3. Tamarind
Tamarind is another highly acidic ingredient commonly used in Indian and Southeast Asian cooking. Storing tamarind paste or pulp in steel containers may lead to discoloration and a metallic aftertaste. The acid can leach particles from the steel, especially if stored for longer durations. Use ceramic or glass containers to preserve tamarind’s rich tang.
4. Tomato-Based Foods
Tomatoes are acidic, and storing tomato chutney, puree, or cooked dishes in steel can lead to oxidation. This not only alters the flavor but also reduces the vitamin C content. For leftover tomato dishes or raw chutneys, use glass or BPA-free plastic containers.
5. Citrus Fruits & Juices
Oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits contain citric acid, which can react with stainless steel and leave a bitter or metallic taste. Whether it’s lemon juice, orange segments, or lemonade, avoid keeping them in steel bowls or bottles. Opt for food-safe glass containers to retain freshness and flavor.
Final Tip:
While stainless steel is excellent for cooking and serving hot foods, avoid long-term storage of acidic or fermented items in it. Using the right containers ensures your food remains safe, tasty, and nutritious.

Durian Fruit Day: Odd Smell, Amazing Health Benefits
Durian Fruit Day: Odd Smell, Amazing Health Benefits
Every year, Durian Fruit Day is celebrated to honor one of the most controversial yet nutritionally powerful fruits in the world — the Durian. Known as the “King of Fruits” in Southeast Asia, durian is as famous for its strong, pungent smell as it is for its rich nutrient profile. While many are put off by its aroma, those who dare to taste it often become lifelong fans of its creamy texture and health-boosting properties.
What’s That Smell?
Durian has earned a reputation for its overpowering scent, often described as a mix of rotten onions, turpentine, and raw sewage. Some hotels and public places in Asia even ban it! But don’t judge this fruit by its smell, because beneath that spiky shell lies a nutrient powerhouse.
Why Durian Is a Superfruit
Despite its reputation, durian offers a variety of health benefits that make it worth trying:
1. Rich in Nutrients
Durian is loaded with vitamin C, potassium, fiber, iron, and healthy fats. It’s one of the most energy-dense fruits available.
2. Boosts Immunity
Its high vitamin C content supports a strong immune system and helps fight off common infections.
3. Improves Digestion
The dietary fiber in durian helps regulate digestion, relieves constipation, and promotes a healthy gut.
4. Heart-Friendly
Durian is rich in potassium, which helps maintain healthy blood pressure and supports cardiovascular function.
5. Natural Energy Booster
With its high carb and calorie content, durian gives you a natural energy lift — ideal for those needing quick stamina.
Celebrating Durian Fruit Day
On Durian Fruit Day, people across countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines indulge in durian-based treats — from ice creams and pastries to shakes and candies. Some even organize durian-tasting events for those curious but cautious!
Final Thought
Durian might not win any awards for fragrance, but it certainly deserves recognition for its nutritional power and unique taste. So this Durian Fruit Day, challenge your senses and give this spiky superfruit a try. You might be surprised at how much you love it!

Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G Review: Flagship Fe
Oppo is back with its stylish and performance-packed Reno 14 Pro 5G, priced just under ₹55,000. But does it offer a true flagship experience or just good looks with compromises? Let’s dive in.
Design & Display: Sleek, Premium, and Eye-Catching
The Reno 14 Pro continues Oppo’s legacy of elegant design with a glass-back body and aluminum frame, offering a solid in-hand feel. It’s slim, lightweight, and premium from every angle.
The 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support offers stunning clarity, vibrant colors, and fluid scrolling — perfect for content consumption and gaming.
Performance: Powerful for Most Users
Under the hood, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone handles multitasking, heavy apps, and gaming with ease.
Gaming on titles like BGMI and Asphalt 9 runs smoothly at high settings, and thermal management is well-optimized. While it may not beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagships, it's more than capable for this price range.
Cameras: A Mixed Bag with Style
The Reno 14 Pro boasts a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor, a 32MP telephoto portrait lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Daylight shots are rich and detailed, while low-light photography is decent but not top-tier.
The 32MP front camera is perfect for selfies and video calls, delivering natural skin tones and sharp details.
Battery & Charging: Quick and Reliable
With a 5000mAh battery and 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, the phone easily lasts a full day and recharges to 100% in about 35 minutes. No wireless charging, though — a minor letdown.
Software & Extras
Running on ColorOS 14.1 based on Android 14, the phone brings smooth animations and useful features. Bloatware is minimal, and Oppo promises 3 years of major updates.
In-display fingerprint, stereo speakers, 5G support, and NFC round out the premium feature list.
Verdict: Worth It?
If you're looking for a stylish, powerful, and camera-focused smartphone under ₹55,000, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is a solid contender. It may not outmatch ultra-flagships in raw power, but it nails design, display, and everyday performance — making it a flagship-like experience at a lower price.

Don’t Ignore These 5 Warning Signs of Liver Disease
Your liver is one of the hardest-working organs in the body. It filters toxins, aids digestion, regulates blood sugar, stores energy, and more. But when your liver is in trouble, it may not show obvious symptoms at first. That's why recognizing the early warning signs is critical for timely treatment and preventing long-term damage.
Here are 5 common signs of liver disease that are often overlooked—but should never be ignored.
1. Persistent Fatigue and Weakness
Feeling tired after a long day is normal, but constant fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest can be an early sign of liver dysfunction.
The liver plays a key role in metabolizing nutrients and providing energy to the body.
When it's compromised, your body struggles to maintain stamina.
What to watch for: Ongoing tiredness, poor concentration, and muscle weakness.
2. Yellowing of the Skin or Eyes (Jaundice)
One of the more visible signs of liver distress is jaundice—a yellowish tint in the skin or eyes.
This occurs when bilirubin, a yellow pigment, builds up in the body due to poor liver filtration.
It may also indicate hepatitis, cirrhosis, or bile duct obstruction.
What to watch for: Yellow skin, yellow eyes, and dark-colored urine.
3. Abdominal Pain and Swelling
Unexplained pain or a heavy feeling in the upper right abdomen could signal liver inflammation or enlargement.
In advanced cases, ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen) may occur.
This is a sign of serious liver damage, like cirrhosis.
What to watch for: Bloating, pressure under the ribs, or a visibly swollen belly.
4. Itchy Skin and Easy Bruising
The liver produces proteins involved in blood clotting, so any damage may lead to easy bruising or bleeding.
Liver issues can also cause bile buildup in the skin, leading to persistent itching.
These symptoms are often confused with allergies or vitamin deficiencies.
What to watch for: Itchy skin without rash, frequent nosebleeds, or bruises from minor bumps.
5. Nausea, Vomiting, or Loss of Appetite
As liver function declines, the body’s ability to process toxins and digest fats is impaired, leading to digestive discomfort.
You may feel nauseous, experience frequent vomiting, or develop a loss of appetite.
This may also lead to unintended weight loss or nutritional deficiencies.
What to watch for: Constant nausea, bloating after meals, or lack of hunger even when you haven’t eaten.
When to See a Doctor
If you’re experiencing any of these signs consistently, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider and request liver function tests. Early diagnosis can help reverse or manage liver disease before it becomes irreversible.
Takeaway
Liver disease can be silent but serious. These subtle symptoms are often mistaken for everyday problems—until it’s too late. Being informed and proactive about your liver health can prevent complications like cirrhosis, liver failure, or even cancer.

TikTok’s M2 Version in Works, Launch Expected by September
TikTok’s M2 App: What We Know About the New Version and Upcoming US Deal
TikTok is reportedly developing a new version of its app, internally codenamed M2, which could replace the current version in the United States. This move comes amid increasing legal pressure from the US government for ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to either sell its US operations or face a nationwide ban.
The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, signed earlier this year, gave TikTok a deadline to comply with ownership requirements. Although the app was briefly unavailable in the US for one day, it continues to operate due to extensions granted during ongoing negotiations.
According to reports by The Information and The Verge, a new agreement is nearly finalized that could allow TikTok to keep operating in the US. The deal reportedly involves Oracle and a group of American investors taking over TikTok’s US operations. Under this plan, ByteDance would retain a minority stake to stay compliant with the law. However, final approval from Chinese authorities is still pending, adding a layer of uncertainty.
As part of this proposed solution, TikTok is preparing to launch the M2 app by September 5, 2025. The current TikTok app would then be removed from app stores and phased out completely by March 2026. This shift would require migrating TikTok’s estimated 170 million US users to the new app.
This approach is rare. Most apps don’t require users to switch platforms entirely, as it risks losing engagement. However, creating a US-specific version could help address data privacy concerns and national security issues raised by lawmakers.
Additionally, the General Services Administration has confirmed a cloud services deal with Oracle, offering a significant discount for federal agencies. This partnership strengthens Oracle’s role in managing TikTok’s data infrastructure.
In summary, TikTok’s M2 app is being developed as a potential workaround to meet US legal requirements while keeping the app available for American users. While the launch date nears, the deal’s success will depend heavily on final approvals from both the US and Chinese governments, as well as how users respond to migrating to a new version of a widely used app.

Samantha Thanks Telugu Fans: ‘Even Through My Mistakes'
Samantha Ruth Prabhu Gets Emotional at TANA 2025, Thanks Telugu Community in the US
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu delivered an emotional speech at the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) 2025 event, held in the United States. The actress broke down in tears as she publicly expressed gratitude to the Telugu community in the US, thanking them for their unwavering support throughout her career, especially during the difficult times.
In a heartfelt moment captured on video and shared by Gulte, Samantha bowed her head and said, “You made me your own from my very first film. You gave me love, respect, and strength. Even after every mistake I made, you didn’t let go of me.” Her words moved the audience and fans alike, many of whom praised her humility and emotional honesty.
Samantha reflected on the fact that it took her 15 years to find herself on that stage, thanking the diaspora that helped shape her journey. “Although it’s been 15 years, I think I have come here at a very important stage of my career. I never got the chance to thank you in person. I am truly grateful,” she said.
The actor also mentioned that before taking up any project, she always asks herself, “Will the Telugu audience be proud of me or not?” That connection and accountability, she emphasized, have guided her career choices, even as she explored other industries.
Samantha’s recent release, Subham (2025), marked her debut as a producer. Directed by Praveen Kandregula, the horror-comedy was well-received, especially by Telugu audiences in North America. She specifically thanked the TANA community for appreciating the film and giving it the love it deserved.
Apart from Subham, Samantha was last seen in Prime Video’s Indian spin-off of Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring alongside Varun Dhawan. The show was helmed by acclaimed directors Raj & DK and is part of the global Citadel franchise that originally starred Priyanka Chopra.
As Samantha concluded her speech at TANA 2025, her eyes welled up. “You gave me an identity, a home, and a sense of belonging,” she said. Her message was clear: no matter where her career takes her, her heart will always belong to the Telugu community.

Andhra’s Polavaram Proposal Returned for Revisions by Centre
Centre Returns Andhra's Polavaram-Banakacharla Link Project Proposal
The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has returned the Andhra Pradesh government's proposal for the Polavaram-Banakacharla Link Project. The committee reviewed the state's preliminary report during its June 17 meeting and rejected the request to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
The project aimed to divert 200 TMC of surplus Godavari water to the Pennar basin through the Krishna river, primarily to benefit drought-prone Rayalaseema. However, the EAC cited ongoing legal disputes involving the Polavaram project, especially objections raised by Odisha and Chhattisgarh, which remain sub-judice.
Further, the committee emphasised the need for a comprehensive assessment of floodwater availability in consultation with the Central Water Commission (CWC). It also flagged multiple public representations alleging that the project violates the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal (GWDT) Award of 1980. Consequently, the EAC advised the Andhra Pradesh government to resolve inter-state concerns with the CWC before resubmitting its proposal.
Telangana, a strong opponent of the project, claimed credit for the Centre’s decision. Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy stated the Centre acted following efforts by CM Revanth Reddy and his ministry. They argued the project violates the AP Reorganisation Act, 2024, and deprives Telangana of its rightful water share.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh officials insist the project does not affect Telangana’s interests, as it utilises only floodwaters that otherwise flow into the sea. The ₹81,900 crore project plans to divert water in three stages from Polavaram to Banakacharla via multiple lifts and tunnels, covering 741,000 acres of new command area.
In a counterproposal, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has suggested reviving the Ichampalli-Nagarjuna Sagar link as a viable and cost-effective alternative. This canal link, previously proposed by the Centre in 2022 under the Godavari-Cauvery linking project, could offer a consensual path forward.

ICMR-AIIMS Study on Covid Vaccine and Cardiac Deaths Explained
No Link Between COVID-19 Vaccines and Sudden Cardiac Deaths: Health Ministry Cites ICMR-AIIMS Findings
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed that there is no evidence linking COVID-19 vaccines to sudden cardiac deaths among adults. This announcement follows detailed studies conducted by leading medical research institutions—the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry said that the comprehensive research has found no direct correlation between the COVID-19 vaccination and the rise in sudden deaths due to cardiac causes. The ICMR, AIIMS, and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) collectively confirmed that COVID-19 vaccines used in India are safe and effective, with serious side effects being extremely rare.
The statement emphasized that sudden cardiac deaths can be attributed to several other factors, including genetic predispositions, underlying health conditions, lifestyle factors, and even complications related to post-COVID recovery. The ministry strongly cautioned the public against believing unverified claims linking vaccines to sudden deaths, labeling such narratives as false and misleading.
This clarification comes at a time when the nation is mourning the sudden death of actor Shefali Jariwala, who passed away at the age of 42 in Mumbai last week. According to police reports, she collapsed at her residence on Friday night. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Doctors suspect a sudden drop in blood pressure or a cardiac arrest as the possible cause of her death. The preliminary investigation did not reveal any signs of foul play, and her body was shifted to R N Cooper Hospital in Juhu for a post-mortem examination. The final report is awaited.
Authorities and experts continue to urge the public to rely on scientific evidence and verified data, especially when it comes to public health concerns like vaccinations. The ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency, scientific integrity, and ensuring vaccine safety across the country.

Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai Not Similar to Paranthu Po: Ram Clarifies
Director Ram Calls Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai an Ambitious Action Thriller with Nivin Pauly, Soori, and Anjali
Tamil filmmaker Ram, known for his emotionally intense storytelling, is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming theatrical release Paranthu Po, set to hit cinemas on July 4. However, in a recent interview with OTTplay, the director also opened up about his much-awaited and delayed project, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, starring Nivin Pauly, Soori, and Anjali in lead roles.
While Paranthu Po is a coming-of-age drama, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai is, in Ram’s words, “an ambitious film” that is entirely different in tone, style, and scope. Calling it an action thriller with romantic elements and genre-blending storytelling, Ram shared that the film is both entertaining and unconventional. “It’s opposite to Paranthu Po — in story, music, and filmmaking,” he said.
The film had its premiere at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) last year, gaining praise for its unique concept. However, it is still awaiting a theatrical release, which was originally planned ahead of Paranthu Po but got delayed due to undisclosed issues.
Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai has been produced by Suresh Kamatchi under V House Productions. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography is by NK Ekambaram, and Mathi VS has handled editing duties.
What makes the film even more intriguing is its conceptual premise. As per reports, the story unfolds aboard a moving train and follows the mysterious encounter between a man in his 30s and an 8,000-year-old immortal, with a rat playing a pivotal role in their journey. This blend of surrealism, philosophy, and action marks a bold departure from Ram’s earlier films, rooted in realism.
Large portions of the movie were filmed on specially constructed sets, which the director believes were necessary to bring his vision to life. With its genre-defying plot and strong cast, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai is shaping up to be one of the most visually ambitious and narratively bold Tamil films in recent times.
Fans of Ram and Nivin Pauly are now eagerly waiting for an official release date, hoping the film makes its theatrical debut soon.

The death toll in the Telangana chemical factory explosion climbed to 42 on Tuesday, as more bodies were recovered during an intense rescue operation at the Sigachi Industries plant in Pashamylaram. The devastating incident, which began with a suspected reactor blast on Monday, has shaken the industrial belt and prompted a statewide response.
According to the PTI news agency, district Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj confirmed that 31 bodies were recovered from the debris, while three workers succumbed to injuries in hospital care. With more than 90 employees reportedly present at the time of the explosion, rescue officials fear the toll may rise further as search operations enter their final phase.“Several bodies have been found under the debris while removing it. The last leg of the rescue operation is still ongoing,” said SP Paritosh Pankaj.
Blast Impact and Immediate Response
The suspected chemical reactor explosion occurred on Monday at the Sigachi Chemical Industry unit, resulting in a powerful blast followed by a massive fire. The entire industrial shed was blown apart, and according to State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, some workers were flung as far as 100 meters due to the intensity of the blast.
Speaking to reporters, the health minister expressed deep concern over the conditions, stating: “The force of the explosion was so powerful that it threw some of the workers into the air. The entire factory structure was torn apart.”
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), HYDRAA, and the Telangana Fire and Disaster Response units were immediately deployed. They continue to sift through the wreckage, searching for survivors and recovering bodies buried under the rubble.
Top Officials React and Extend Support
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to visit the site of the explosion on Tuesday morning to assess the situation and extend support to the victims' families. The CM is also expected to announce compensatory measures and further action regarding industrial safety protocols.
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma expressed profound grief over the tragic accident. He offered condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The Governor also reached out to Labour, Employment Training and Factories (LETF) Principal Secretary M. Dan Kishore, urging the department to extend every possible assistance to the victims and ensure proper medical care and relief.
Ongoing Investigation
While an official cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, preliminary assessments suggest that a chemical reaction inside the reactor could have triggered the devastating blast. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough probe once rescue operations conclude.

Death Toll: Rises to 42; over 90 workers were present at the time.
Blast Origin: Suspected chemical reactor explosion.
Response: NDRF, HYDRAA, and Fire teams continue search ops.

Gambhir Scolds Jaiswal in Fiery Chat Before 2nd Test, Leaves Him Unhappy
Team India Reacts to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Fielding Errors After Leeds Test
After a stellar start to his England tour with a maiden Test century at Leeds, Yashasvi Jaiswal quickly found himself under the scanner, not for his batting, but for a series of costly fielding lapses that contributed to India's five-wicket defeat in the first Test. The young opener dropped four crucial catches across both innings, leading to criticism from former cricketers and fans alike.
In response, the Indian team management reportedly held a serious discussion with the 23-year-old following the defeat at Headingley. As India began training for the second Test in Birmingham, notable changes were observed. During the first open practice session at Edgbaston, Jaiswal was removed from the slip cordon, a key position he had occupied during the Leeds Test. Sai Sudharsan was seen taking his place in the gully during fielding drills.
According to a training report by Revsportz, the team management addressed Jaiswal's repeated fielding lapses, including a flashback to his drops during India’s tour of Australia, where he put down chances off Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja. The video also captured a visibly intense conversation between head coach Gautam Gambhir and Jaiswal, accompanied by assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. Gambhir was reportedly seen demonstrating short catching techniques and appeared visibly dissatisfied with the young opener’s fielding efforts.
Addressing the issue during a pre-match press conference, ten Doeschate stated,"Yashasvi has been a very good catcher for us, but we’re considering giving him a break from gully. His hands are sore, and we want to help rebuild his confidence."
He also highlighted the importance of short-leg positions, especially in English conditions where India may deploy two spinners, making fielding depth crucial.
Despite the fielding errors, Jaiswal remains a key figure in India’s batting line-up. The team, trailing 0-1 in the series, will be looking to bounce back strongly in Birmingham. Jaiswal’s ability to deliver with the bat could prove pivotal, and the management appears focused on ensuring the young talent is mentally ready for the challenges ahead, on both fronts.
