“I decided to do this series to celebrate my 30th [birthday] because I wanted to celebrate the woman I am, rather than focus on all the things that I am not or hadn’t accomplished. It was really my way of taking my power back.” Read our feature on @sieneih‘s #30for30 photo series that lead up to her 30th birthday (link in bio). Swipe 👈🏾 to see more.

#RealBeautyMoment “I walk down the street and people always look at me like, ‘wow, you’re dark.’ I’m from Senegal, West Africa. I was teased as a child, but I overcame it. I always felt good about my skin. I always loved it. I feel like differences really make perfections. If you have a chance to be different, don’t ever change it. Difference is everything.” -Khoudia Diop Photo: Abi Ishola for BeyondClassicallyBeautiful.com #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful #BCB #Beauty #BlackWomen #Melanin #MelaninPoppin #MelaninQueen #BlackBeauty #BlackGirlMagic #BlackModels

#SelfCareSunday Abi: What you saw in the area of wellness and spirituality, the lack of diversity, essentially inspired you to start your company. Talk about how it unfolded. Leslie Carrington: “My intention is to make wellness accessible and inclusive for people of color. When I started my spiritual journey, I was going to events and retreats and I would be the only person of color. I wouldn’t see myself so I wasn’t as open to what the [speakers] were saying because I didn’t see myself reflected. There wasn’t that much of a buy in. I would have to come home, do my own research and my own meditation and find my own inner journey. I didn’t feel like I had that sisterhood or that support. I wasn’t getting that from the events I was going to or the workshops I was going to. I didn’t feel that. That was just my experience. I was like, I wonder if there was a way to make it more inclusive where you saw Caucasians, African Americans, Latin people, and Asians sort of coming together as one. You’re in an environment where you’re vibing and enjoying each other and learning. That was the premise. That was what I set out to do.” Read more of our feature on Leslie Carrington, the founder of @holisticitilyfe, a company that promotes wellness experiences for women of color. #BCBArchives #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful #Beauty #BlackWomen #blackgirlmagic #BlackGirlsLiveWell

#YearInBeauty This week we are taking a look back at our favorite #BeautyMoments of 2017. Our gallery event debut for our #BodyNoire2 series shot by @shotbybank definitely makes the cut! We are still thrilled by the turnout! Who doesn’t like to see a room full of #Beautiful #BlackWomen taking in art inspired by beautiful black women? It was a pure celebration and genuine discussion about #BlackBodies and Black Beauty, featuring Beauty guru Yetty Bames and Yahoo.com Beauty Director @_danaoliver and moderated by me, Abi Ishola. It was truly a memorable event! Thanks again to all the beauties who attended! Stay tuned for our first event of 2018! 📷 @v_well #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful #BCB #Melanin #BlackGirlMagic #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful

#YearInBeauty #MissJamaica had us like 👀 when she stepped on stage rocking that glorious #Afro as she competed for the #MissUniverse title. She represented for her country, #NaturalHair, #BlackWomen, AND the color yellow at the same damn time! She didn’t win the competition but she won the hearts of the PEOPLE! _______ This week we are sharing our favorite #beautymoments of 2017. #Beauty #BlackGirlMagic #melanin @officialmissuniversejamaica

#RealBeautyMoment “Anything can be beautiful. I find it in many different things. There was a time when I didn’t feel like I was beautiful. I had to for myself find that inside beauty and embrace it on the outside. My mom is not really the supportive type so I had to do that for myself.” –Ivy #BeyondClassicallyBeautiful #BCB #Beauty #BlackWomen #BlackBeauty #Melanin
