The Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire is so, so good

It's not often you come across a YA series so well-written that an adult can really enjoy it both on the surface and on a deeper level, recognise themself in the characters and their coping mechanisms, feel extremely seen, use it as a lense to re-examine their own childhood trauma, and experience such catharsis that it kind of echoes back in time a little.

I had a dream last night where I had to choose to take on a physical trait of one of my favorite fictional characters from a large set of options. I don't remember what all of the options were, but I do remember choosing to have "Dalinar's powerful (and shapely) ass" (direct quote from dream-me) because it would give me the strength (literally) to always keep moving forward.

it's so funny to me that kaladin is the one darkeyes on roshar who doesn't want a shardblade and yet he CANNOT avoid them. he has acquired this legendary weapon of old not once but three fucking times. this man is LOUSY with shardblades. he stands up and shardblades fall out of his pockets. every time he feels something stuck in his boot -- surprise it's another fucking shardblade. who will he give it to now. that guy in the alleyway doesn't look busy, maybe he'll take it

Honestly, Spensa putting the pedal to the floor and only realizing afterwards that "hmmm, maybe that was a little fast" is 100% how I envisioned the first Spinface date. So, bravo, Brando! 👏👏👏

Ok, here's the long and short of it: If you're a female over 18 in the US and you are anti-choice, then I don't view you as a fully functioning adult woman. You've clearly never thought it all the way through. And if you're offended by that statement... then maybe now you know how pregnant women feel when you tell them they deserve less bodily autonomy than a corpse.

Ok, real talk. The reason I can never get behind the Lily x Snape ship is because in highschool the only guys who were attracted to me were the Snape-ish ones (weird, awkward, angry). Granted, I was weird, awkward, and angry myself... but it never turned out well. I don't care that he thinks he's in love with her, that doesn't stop him being a narcissistic creep. Jily forever!
