hugs? hunk pulls keith close to him all the time. clearly finds his presence reassuring 

garrison flashbacks? you got them with heith. we get to see hunk’s first interaction with keith

keith ending up a white guy no matter how hard his stans tried to make him Oppressed is still funny but it also… really emphasises how heinously and openly racist the kl fandom was and still is. even the Woke ones. like

all these millions of fics and comics where lance fawns over and crushes on keith who is oblivious or smug or just annoyed. pining keith things where keith is entitled to lance’s attention and lance is an idiot for not giving him the time of day. lance getting hounded for insulting keith while keith doing the same is seen as smooth and romantic. keith being made soft small and uwu and lance big tall and hyper-masculine despite keith being bigger taller and manlier in canon. fan artists drawing lance as a fucking caricature and keith with a perfect face and no flaws. lance being called a creepy misogynist so k stans can feel good about hating allurance with no regard for how this affects his character. people going from “lance is an angel uwu” to “lance is ugly and het and annoying” whenever he breathes in allura’s direction and throwing him aside to ship keith with the next guy available. people ‘rebooting’ lance and allura’s friendship out of existence because lance being close to people other than keith is unacceptable. people clamouring for lance to die so keith could angst about it. and like a million other things. and we knew, we all saw them, and we just let it happen

Wait what happened??? I’m so confused, what’s wrong with Voltron? I only just started watching recently (I’m on season 2) because it seemed like everyone was raving about how good it was. Now everyone hates it? Why? What’s going on??

(there may be minor spoilers ahead!!)

basically, the quality of the show went down drastically after season 2. the characters motivations changed without explanation, they consistently only focused on the white character and let characters of color be the brunt of jokes (altho this happened throughout season 1 and 2 as well), celebrated themselves for having gay rep only to pull bury your gays (and not even having a canon confirmation until season 8 at the end to my understanding?), and a whole host of other things

they also just.... stopped caring about plot. it got SUPER messy after season 2, with a bunch of things being left unexplained and glossed over

the showrunners are also just uniquely bad like after a bad season, instead of listening to fans who were like ‘hey this was... super racist and homophobic?’ they defended it by basically saying fans didn’t understand and that the show is ABOUT WAR as though that... justifies it...

they treated their main characters of color like garbage and put them through repeated trauma even tho the white characters got the brunt of the attention

introduced a bunch of new characters toward the end and then either 1. focused more on them than on the main characters or 2. didn’t even develop them enough for people to care abt them

blamed dreamworks and other stuff for bad decisions they made lmao

released seasons AWFULLY they would release like part 1 of a season (5eps) and then part 2 of a season (5eps) within a couple of months so everything felt super disjointed

the fandom (and creative team) is made up of crackheads who don’t understand marketing or PR

it’s just a bad show overall. super cool concept originally that COULD have been really good?
