i feel so useless. however, i spent most of the day setting up the new blog. preview it here. pretty much as soon as i get the last two links set up, i will be archiving this blog and sliding over there. c: nothing is going to be dropped, and i will make sure to clear out the last few things in my askbox before going/

                        The procedure for recruiting to one’s crew was fairly simple;                         set up in one of the local taverns, and wait for candidates to                         line up. On more simple ships, the only prerequisite needed                          was the ability to stand on one’s own feet. Brannyn, however,                          knew that his captain would not be pleased with the ordinary                         riff raff scrambling for some adventure. He also knew that                          where they were headed,  they needed strong, rough sailors.                          For now, he stood their watching the candidates, scoping for                          potential, getting his fill of drink before they set sail again. 

                        He was halfway through his second  bottle of rum  before                          someone with real promise came to their table. The first mate                          tried not to stagger over towards the man, a difficult task as                          rum and gravity were not a great combination.

                The popina was  always extremely busy after a day of blood in                  the  arena.  Men  and  women,  degenerates  usually,  flocked  to                  Rome’s dens of inequity like they flocked to the bloody spectacle                  upon the sands. Oddly, Brennius felt more comfortable here, with                  the dregs of society, than in high society. He felt more free.
