ok this is becoming a recurring problem, so i might as well address it

i fully appreciate compliments and nice messages!! it’s always nice to share some positivity, and it warms my heart everytime. but if you send them accompanied with self-deprecation, or god forbid insults towards other artists… that kinda sucks?

you know what i mean. “your art is great, far better than x’s!”, or “wow thanks for sharing my horrible art!”, or “you’re a great artist, my drawings are crap.” not only self-deprectaion like that really hurts your own mental health, but also puts the person you sent this “compliment” to in a terribly awkward position. it feels like you’re fishing for compliments or pity, or that you’re starting unnecessary drama if you compare my stuff to someone else’s.
