Just a hunch here, gop. But I think being 14 and married to a gross older man or dying in a mining accident is a bigger threat to a child than hearing about trans people.

I've seen a few posts of people from varying us states saying "why is no one talking about x new anti LGBT bill/law in my state?" and I need you guys to know that unfortunately part of the reason you're not hearing much about your specific state is that it's not just your state. there are currently 321 anti LGBT+ bills in the us
you'll notice that several of these states have more than 10. Missouri and Oklahoma have 31 and 34 respectively. and some of these have already passed or are well on their way. living here has become exponentially more terrifying. and even people in states with 0 bills should be worried because they are absolutely not going to stop at state level legislation, the next step is federal law. it's really time for everyone in the us to be vigilant right now. connect with people in your community and start or get involved in movements for change, starting on a very small local level. I know it gets really discouraging looking at maps like this. you're probably not going to be able to help everyone in every state, but you might be able to make a big difference with your local community

We got some trans rights legislative updates to talk about, so let's just jump into it:
A bathroom bill denies access to public restrooms by gender or trans identity.
They increase danger without making anyone any safer and have even prompted attacks on cis and trans people alike. Many national health and anti-sexual assault organizations oppose these bills.
Iowa HB482, a school-based bathroom bill, was introduced and referred to the House Judiciary Committee yesterday.
Arizona SB1040, a school-based bathroom bill, passed in the Senate yesterday and crossed over to the House today. Idaho S1016, which already passed in the Senate, was filed for its first reading in the House yesterday.
Healthcare bills go against professional and scientific consensus that gender-affirming care saves lives. Denying access will cause harm.
Providers are faced with criminal charges, parents are threatened with child abuse charges, and intersex children are typically exempted.
Missouri HB1332 was introduced and read for the first time yesterday.
Indiana SB0480, an under-18 healthcare ban, passed in the Senate and will cross over to the House. Nebraska LB574 was placed on general file, meaning it is now on the floor.
Utah HB0132 was returned to committee yesterday, bringing the bill back after it failed in committee in January.
Florida S0952, the “Reverse Woke Act,” was referred to the Senate Health Policy Committee. Oklahoma SB129 passed in committee this morning and will head to the Senate floor. Texas HB776 was referred to the House Public Health Committee yesterday.
Public performance bans, or "drag bans," restrict access for folks who are gender non-conforming in any way. They loosely define "drag" as any public performance with an “opposite gender expression,” as sexual in nature, and inappropriate for children. This also pushes trans individuals out of public spaces.
Texas HB708 was referred to the House State Affairs Committee yesterday. Tennessee SB0841 had its action deferred until 3/14. Tennessee HB0030 passed in committee and is headed to the House floor.
Schooling / Parental Rights bills force schools to misgender or deadname students, ban instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity, and make schools alert parents if they suspect a child is trans.
They remove life-saving affirmation and support for trans youth.
Florida H1223 was pre-filed yesterday. Iowa HSB222 was introduced and referred to the House Education Committee yesterday.
Florida H1069 was sent to another education subcommittee in the House. Oklahoma SB503 passed in committee this morning and will head to the Senate floor.
Sex designation bills make it harder for trans folks to have IDs, such as birth certificates, match their gender identity. They can force a male or female designation based upon sex assigned at birth. Some ban a non-binary “X” marker or require surgery to qualify for ID updates.
Tennessee SB1440 passed in committee yesterday and will head to the Senate floor.
Most sports bills force schools to designate teams by sex assigned at birth. They are often one-sided and ban trans girls from playing on teams consistent with their gender identity. Some egregious bills even force invasive genital examinations on student athletes.
Wyoming SF0133, which already passed in the Senate, passed its 2nd reading in the House yesterday. Florida H0999 was sent to another education subcommittee yesterday.
Arkansas HB1156 was re-referred to the Senate Education Committee.
These are other negative bills that attack trans rights outside of the bill types above.
Iowa HJR8 was introduced and referred to the House Judiciary Committee yesterday. This is a joint resolution attacking marriage. West Virginia HB3042, a “religious freedom” bill, passed in the Senate and is headed to the Governor for signature.

I'm not American, but grew up in a country that is REALLY used to centering American opinions. I'd love to see how many people here are actually American, and how many are just accepting of a lot of American content.
Boundaries are fake, so most places show up at least twice. Choose the grouping that you connect with more.

Religious indoctrination is based on submission to patriarchal opportunists.
Exploitation by religious men of children and teens is in the millions. It's in every town and every parish. There are $billions in settlements.
Why even bring up drag queens? That's how guilty people try to distract.

Today the Washington Post tracked down my little brother’s personal cell phone number because my mom is the president of an organization that supports families of transgender kids.
Yesterday (Feb 9 2023) my home state, Missouri, announced a government investigation into organizations providing care and support for transgender kids.
This is after an administrator at Washington University’s Pediatric Transgender Center came out in a now-viral article about how the Transgender Center was “rushing” trans kids into care and “mutilating” us. She gave away the personal information of many of my trans loved ones who, like me, received care from the center, and she described our bodies as horrifying. Everything she said was a lie.
No goddamn trans person is “rushed” into medical care, especially not trans minors in states controlled by far-right politicians. No one gets medical care for funsies in the only industrialized country without free healthcare.
I received care through this transgender center as a minor and it took over a year and countless doctor’s notes and visits to begin any sort of medical treatment. You can hear this same story from any trans person, especially — AGAIN — minors in Republican-controlled states. I had to see fertility doctors at 16 years old who tried to convince me not to go on T.
My mom, because she’s amazing, joined a support group when I came out. She is now the president. She had to alert the police yesterday after journalists kept coming TO HER HOUSE.
I finally got a call from a Washington Post journalist today to interview me, an actual trans person who received care from the Pediatric Transgender Center. She spoke with me for only 20 minutes and didn’t know the most basic facts about being trans. No doubt my words will be published in a ridiculous thought piece that only adds to the oppression of trans minors.
My medical transition has brought me nothing but joy. I was simply lucky to begin it at 17.
I am so scared. Trans people will be eliminated in the US as this progresses. This is not just a “red state” issue, either. Please extend compassion to your trans siblings and keep up with the trans eliminationist legislation and actions throughout the US.
Transphobes do not touch this post.

Hey everyone. There's another app on the Google playstore. Pretty sure it's not official and it's making money from in-app ads.
I think the AO3's latest post about apps is here:

this legislative session, 12 anti-trans bills were introduced in virginia. 3 were intended to ban trans healthcare, 4 were forced-outing bills, and 5 would have banned trans people from sports. these are the same kinds of bills we've been watching pop up country-wide. but as of this morning (2/16/23) all 12 were defeated. it's obviously the bare minimum to ask for from a government, but it should still be celebrated. so many of us in virginia have been holding our breathes for weeks, and the relief we felt today was notable.
things feel grim right now, but there are still people out here fighting tooth and nail to keep our family safe, and we are loved, so there's your good news for the day

Tampons and pads should be free. Condoms should be free. Birth control should be free. Pregnancy tests should be free. Abortions should be free. HIV/STI testing should always be free. HIV/STI medication and treatments should be free. Honestly, all medication and surgery should be free. Internet should be free. Water should be free. Food should be free. Shelter should be free. Education should be free. And if you disagree or think this is too radical, then you and I can't be friends and I hope you die.
