We have an EP coming out called Ruiner. It’s gonna feature Toxin, our single, as well as new songs Attractive and 5/4. 

Attractive is one of those songs that snuck up on us. It started as a riff Justin wrote, but morphed into a song about relationships that suck all of the life out of you and leave you with nothing but resentment and hate. One of my youngest relationships was this way, and the song draws parallels between that experience and another experience I had with a man who was stalking me. Both times in my life left me feeling the same - isolated, alone, emotionally unstable, and terribly vulnerable. 

5/4 is about waking up to a story about the Supreme Court tacitly endorsing the practice of gerrymandering. In a 5/4, party-line vote, conservative justices reduced American democracy to a shell of its former self, a version that discounts voices those in power want to silence. In an incredibly racist, classist move, our highest court determined that all votes don’t matter equally.

The show we’re playing this week is the one-year anniversary of us playing shows, and I’m so excited by how much we’ve grown as artists over this time. Our first show was a house gig with Brook Pridemore and Jake McKelvie, and I remember sitting and realizing that for the first time I was sharing the stage with another artist. I still hold both artists in my heart dearly and hope we cross paths again. 

If you’re in the Huntington, WV area, make sure to come by to see us Oct. 10 at the Marigold, on 4th Avenue. We’d love to celebrate our band’s birthday with you.
