Being heard
As young women our voices are so underestimated. Adults think that us teenagers don't know what we are talking about because our brains aren't fully developed, which is no reason to think that. To this day women are still not equal to men. We have women rights that are being snatched away right in front of us by the president. I'am not sure if many of you saw that vsco post with a woman standing on the sidewalk with a sign in her hand that said "women belong in the kitchen". When I saw that photo I wanted to throw up. It's so sad to think that there are not only women in Minnesota, but all around the world that think of women that are low almost like we don't have a place. We all have a say in this society and it's already hard enough to be a woman, but it's even harder to have people hear our voices. Us girls have to stick together and if we do imagine what we can do. This world has so many issues we are seen as less valuable compared to men. Every year 4.7 million women in America are abused and assaulted by their partner, men think it is okay to just say what they want or do what they want because they think they have more dominance. Young and old women are treated terribly for their opinions on women's power and rights. Speak up girls can do anything. We have a voice, so use it to help.

My favorite bible Verses
Proverbs 14;1 : The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.
Proverbs 31:25: She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
Matthew 19: 26: Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Psalm 56:3: Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you.
John 13:7: you may not understand now what I am doing. But someday, you will.

Christmas in my house
Christmas starts in my house days after Halloween, and ends in the beginning weeks of February.
But why does society say that is a bad thing?
Society looks at this as such a negative, and they are right, it can be.
It can be if you choose shopping time over family time.
It can be if you choose materialism over God’s greatest gift.
It can be if you choose to only receive and not be thankful.
It can be if you forget about why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.
However, in my house this is not the case.
Christmas in my house is a big deal and for all the right reasons.
It’s a time for family, friends, joy, and Jesus.
It’s a time to light up the house with Christmas trees, poinsettias, mangers, tiny villages, Santa clauses, and reindeer.
It’s a time for the fireplace to burn, the smell of baked goods to fill the air, and the sound of Christmas songs to echo through each floor.
It’s a time for Elf and Christmas with the Kranks to run constantly across the TV, and for weekly trips to the ice skating rink; skating until our feet are sore, and our fingers numb.
It’s a time when all three children are back in the house; playing together, laughing together, and having the occasional argument.
Christmas time is a time when memories are made.
Grocery shopping while wearing reindeer antlers and Santa hats, falling asleep by the tree in hopes to see Santa, baking a cake for Jesus’ birthday, and laughing till tears are running down your eyes with relatives during a silly card game.
For me, Christmas is my favorite time of year.
Not because of all the lights, movies, and presents, but because of Jesus.
Jesus is the reason for the season, and at my house that is a daily reminder.
Walking upstairs to see the manager display, where baby Jesus was born.
The advent wreath that is lit and prayed on weekly at Sunday’s church service.
The reminder from my dad, that it’s better to give than receive; praying at dinner to thank God for all of our blessings.
Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
God’s greatest gift to humanity is something I have been lucky enough to know my whole life.
Yes we like to watch Christmas movies, sing carols, and leave cookies out for Santa.
But we also spread joy, love, and peace, just as Jesus did during his whole life.
If it were up to me, the holiday season would never end. Because to me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a reason to celebrate Jesus.

Class of 2020
To my fellow classmates..
This isn't how we wanted to end our senior year, No prom, No spring sports, No graduation, No celebration parties.. But this is what we got. We have worked so hard the past 4 years in high school to be able to walk across that stage. The failed tests, the tears because we got a D on a test, the studying for the ACT, the finding a date to homecoming or prom, staying up till 2 am studying or finishing a project, asking our teacher to move our grade up to get a 100%.. We now look back at that all and feel at loss but do to the cerminstans we can’t change anything or or back for one more day like we wish we could..
But we will be remembered as Class of 2020.

Somethings about me
•I will almost always say yes to eating food, any kind of food. •I always check behind the shower curtain when I go to the bathroom to make sure a monster isn’t hiding there. •I spend way more money than I should on candles. •Getting my back scratched is my weakness. •When I am stressed or nervous I bite my lip. •I write everything down in my planner, sometimes even twice. •I have wanted to be a mom since I was in my own mom’s womb and someday it will happen, hopefully. (Dogs just don’t cut it) •I will only eat the m&ms out of the trail mix. •Dogs. I love dogs, big dogs. •I stress about stress before there is even stress to stress about. •It is really hard for me to say no to people. •I trust too easily and give second chances way too much. •I look up to my parents more than they will ever know. •I find talking on the phone the most uncomfortable thing ever. •I pretend like I am really organized with my planner, but I still procrastinate like it’s my day job. •I am an extreme extrovert. •I love to experience new cultures. •I really like my eyelashes. •I am a night person (Hate mornings) •I never can stay awake during movies, my eyes think it is the perfect time to sleep. •I don’t really get grossed out by anything. •I really just love life, and if you are part of it, I will definitely put you before myself.

parents
For the past 18 years you both have been my rock.
My #1 fans, my support system, my role models.
Thanks isn’t enough for the sole fact that you are the reason for my existence. Without you, there would be no me. God picked the perfect parents.
One of my favorite compliments is when others say how much I look like you. Aside from your good looks, I also hope to gain in my future your work ethics, selflessness, and example of how a marriage and love should be. You are the strongest people I know. I can not recall a single time either of you have ever given up on anything. Through the good and bad that life brings, you two always see the value of life, love, and family.
So thank you. Thank you for raising me, for loving me, and for giving me your everything.
Thank you for traditions. Easter Eggs, Pumpkin patches, Christmas for three months. For allowing me to appreciate the Minnesota weather; the fun that a 85° sunny day and a -30° winter night can bring.
Thank you for letting me do it all. Soccer, softball, volleyball, track, basketball and dance. The amount of time, miles, and money you put into all these things is more than you probably wanted, but you still did it. Driving me to every practice and being in the stands for every game. Home or Away. Even if I rode the bench, even if we lost by 20 points.
Thank you for siblings. For teaching me how to love them with my whole being, even on days when we couldn’t stop fighting long enough to see your frustration. Many of my childhood memories include my siblings and you both. Something I will hold close to my heart as I become a parent of my own someday.
Thank you for letting me experience life. When I tell you about my next big idea; you don’t shoot it down, but help me talk it out and see if this dream of mine can become a reality.
Thank you for showing me who God is. For raising me in a household where we pray before family dinner, attend church on Sundays, and thank the Lord our God before we drift off to sleep. This is my biggest thank you. I cannot imagine a life without knowing Him. Through Him all things are possible, and I know that we all can agree when we say all praise goes to Him and the blessings this family has.
Thank you for late night calls and random “Miss you. Love you. Proud of you!” texts. When you can’t make out a word I’m saying because my words are drowned out with tears. Whether it be because I’m happy or stressing over something, you are always there to listen. For reminding me of all the good when I can only see the bad, and that my GPA will always be higher than dads. Thank you for the encouragement, advice, and reassurance. That no matter what I do, I will never be a disappointment.
Although the future is unknown, I will never stop being grateful for all you have given me. I will still call when I need to be calmed down. I will still panic when I don’t understand how to file my taxes. I will still never say no to a family dinner and I will still be grateful for the times you want to fill up my tank.
I owe it all to you and for that I am forever grateful.

Hopeful
“Hey!” “Hello, how are you?” “I’m good thanks, how are you?” “I’m good.”
What if you were to change one word to Hopeful?
What if instead of saying “I’m good”, you said “I’m hopeful.”
How would the other person react?
What if they responded “Well what are you hopeful for?”
I mean how could they not be curious, this isn’t something one hears everyday.
What would you say? How would you answer? ————————————————
This scenario was presented to me at church a few Sundays back. Since then I’ve been itching to try it, but I always find myself once again answering with a simple, “I’m good!”
I’ve been pondering on this answer and asking myself what would happen if I responded with “hopeful.”
Would the other person just look at me weird and walk away, or would they actually ask what I mean when I say “I’m hopeful.”
How would I answer?
What am I even hopeful for?
I have so much going on day by day, hour to hour. It is so easy to let life fill up with stress, discouragement, and temporary problems.
But where is my hope in all this chaos?
I needed to remind myself.
•I am hopeful for my college diploma; a symbol of four years of hard work, late nights, early mornings, endless cups of coffee, 300+ hours in a elementary classroom, tears, laughs, 3 page papers, and the some of my favorite memories•
•I am hopeful for my next plane ticket. A chance to explore a new culture, learn more about myself, and see God’s beautiful creations•
•I am hopeful for my future classroom; good morning smiles, limitless laughs, word walls and posters, our future generations growing, loving, learning•
•I am hopeful for when I fall in love. Crazy adventures, passionate kisses, happy tears and butterflies on the day we become one; a promising future to build together•
•I am hopeful for starting a family. First a puppy or two, then the opportunity to read bedtime stories at night, take 30 extra minutes to walk out the door in the morning, and have open arms running towards me as I pick them up from daycare; beautiful children that came from my own body•
•I am hopeful for God’s people. That He continues to provide for those in need. Pick people up from darkness to show them light; to plant generosity in our souls and peace among all nations•
•I am hopeful for my next chance to be the feet and hands of Jesus. To see the world through God’s eyes and share with others how God is L O V E•
•I am hopeful for my friends and family. That they follow their passions, seek God, and take risks; lucky that I am blessed with amazing, loving, and adventurous people to support me daily•
•I am hopeful for the power of conversation, to express my thoughts, through mouth, paper, or song. To allow feelings to be shared to someone who will listen•
•But lastly, I am hopeful that some day I’ll finally get the chance to share my hopes with a sidewalk stranger who engaged in a simple hello•

To my mini-me
I hope that high school will bring nothing but late nights, countless memories, and life long friends.
I hope that when you first fall in love, And I mean truly fall in love with that guy in your English class, that you love with all your heart; all your being.
I hope that he treats you like the beautiful diamond you are and shows you what a healthy relationship is.
But I hope that if he doesn’t, you will see your worth. You will see that he is only dimming your sparkle, and no matter how hard it will be, you need to let go.
I hope that when your heart is broken, you confide in me. I will be there with multiple Ben and Jerry tubs full of the sweetest ice cream to eat all the pain away.
I hope that you will find a healthy balance between school and fun. Remember academics are important, but your GPA only lasts so long, and your girlfriends will last forever.
I hope you find joy in the little things. In the mornings you wake up before the sun to finish a project, or the late nights spent helping your friend decide what to wear tomorrow on her date.
I hope you spoil yourself. Take bubble baths when your stressed, and try on all the prom dresses at Macy’s before you find the one that makes you feel beautiful inside and out.
I hope you try out for the softball team, and dance your heart out during competitions. Use your athletic ability as an outlet for your crazy life.
I hope you eat the rest of the chocolate bar or the last slice of pizza, because that number on the scale does not define you.
I hope you find time for yourself. Time to take the car for a drive down a never ending gravel road. Windows down, the stereo cranked, wind blowing through your hair.
I hope that you communicate. Tell people how you feel. Family, friends, teachers. Never keep things in your heart unsaid.
I hope you go to every school dance, sporting event, and fine arts production. One day you will miss all these times spent supporting your school. Make sure you have memories to look back on.
I hope you look towards God in times of darkness. Let Him be your rock. Lay your burdens down at the foot of the cross, and know He has great plans for you.
I hope you don’t drive mom and dad crazy. That you stay patient with them when they just don’t understand, and that you stay humble in all that they have blessed you with.
But above all I hope you know you are loved. You are loved by me, by our brother, our mom and dad, and by every person that gets a chance to see your beautiful soul.
I am so proud of all you have already accomplished and the beautiful young woman you are growing up to be. I wouldn’t want anyone else to be my mini-me.
All my love, Your big sister
“You are altogether beautiful my love. There is NO flaw in you.” -Solomon 4:7
