One day Berlin
Once in a while you just have luck! And we really had this last weekend because of a very well arranged VIP-flight by KLM to Berlin. They asked people to get 99 friends within 99 hours in one airplane to win a flight. 77 airplanes had been filled out of 2,200 - and @slijterijmeisje was the lucky captain of the airplane #SpiritintheSky. And KLM got more than 100,000 hits @ their website for their new product - by using social media.
We had a very special trip with 99 friends we mostly never met before. It already started directly after the winning team had been chosen. Tweeting about the city, the trip, roommates, car sharing, the group got a real group. And when we arrived @ the special VIP-room @ Schiphol Oost we knew each other already a bit better than before. The flight was short but with breakfast (dinner retour) and a special drink @slijterijmeisje offered for the spirit of the flight. And we got a shuttle to the hotel. A stay in a very special hotel (nhow in Berlin), a visit @ Frisch Berlin with a new shirt for M and a new suit for me, an empty 6 lane ‘Unter den Linden’ as beingprepared for a marathon on sunday, a family-like dinner with friends, a typical Berlin breakfast with everything you can imagine and a nice biketour through Mitte, Kreuzberg and Tiergarten.
Something to share and to keep good thoughts about, especially if you have to celebrate being 15 years together! Useally, I never ever post here anything personal - but this was special - and I am a ZZP’er (Zelfstandige Zonder Personeel = self-employee without staff).
It has been hilaric when my friends heard this title (ZZP) at the dinner - they again liked the Dutch way of thinking: pragmatic and sufficiant, as only they can define life here.
Probably, that’s why I m still in Amsterdam - I do like the ease, the direct way to communicate and the scale of this big small worldvillage. But Berlin is calm, too - the people are relaxed, even if you see some contrasts between rich and poor, more than in The Netherlands.
So, we still now and then are dreaming living there, but there are practical things like work, school and family keeping us here. So we will visit Berlin - very often, I promise!
