(girl with adhd voice) yeah i just love in fiction when a character has a superpower thats also a disability. like a power that changes how they interact with the world in exciting ways but also has terrible drawbacks to their daily life. no real reason why

Sweater (probably American, 1895), The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The large gigot (leg-of-mutton) sleeves of this wool knitted sweater were one of the most distinctive silhouettes of 1890s fashion.
If you want to knit your own, a similar pattern was published in Fancy and Practical Knitting (1897) on pages 167-168.

Just to clarify, there's a bill that would STOP credit card companies from controlling who's allowed to spend money on porn or "risque" (read: queer) content. If you don't think big business should be able to tell you what to spend your own damn money on, call your senators and reps to let them know! It's the Fair Access to Banking Act, H.R.987 in the House, S.410 in the Senate.

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

I ruptured my ACL bouldering in December and had reconstructive surgery in April. Recovery is a year-long process that involves extensive physical therapy before I am able to fully return to sport. The sports that I miss the most is backpacking. During my recovery process, I frequently revisit photos from my favorite backpacking trips. I thought I might share them with you all on the off chance they inspire folks to get out and enjoy our beautiful world while they still can.

Good Omens Fan Fiction Friday (7/11/25) - Saw the Tags; Read it Anyway
Tumblr media
I love the diversity of Good Omens fan fic writers and readers. There's something for everyone. It's amazing. We don't all like the same things. I'm sure my recs dominated by sweet stories with happy endings have some readers wishing for something edgier. Well buckle up, this theme is for you. Today I share the fics with tags I normally avoid. But the writer intrigued me so much I read their fic anyway. And even if I had to follow some stories by reading tooth-rotting fluff, I don't regret it a bit. If you prefer to give dark subjects a miss, stop reading here. Check out some of my other themed recs on lighter topics. And come back next week for happier stories.
Let's start with one of the first fics I read with a tag I'd normally forgo. However, it wasn't the writer who lured me in, but readers. So many people recommended Be Still, My Love, Be Still (E) by entanglednow that I gave it a shot. And this tale of a human and a sleep paralysis demon falling in love landed in my top 10% of fics. The writer skillfully managed the dub-con tag to get past my initial squick. And wrote something surprisingly tender.
BTW, entanglednow has written 188 Good Omens fics. So if this is your jam, check them out.
Thank You for the Thorns (E) by @captainblou tags by the chapter. The writer hits you with the sexual assault of a primary character by the second chapter. I read this slow burn love story between Ezra Fell and Anthony Crowley because I know captainblou can write an emotional story that gives me the feels. This didn't disappoint.
As long as we're abusing primary characters, check out @raxacoricofallapatoriusrulez's Sunshine and Thorns (E). This is a Dead Dove fic (and they aren't kidding) in which Aziraphale is tormented by his partner, Gabriel. I found it a tough ride. But I trusted Rax who didn't let me down. It was worth a read for BAMF!Crowley.
Still with me? Take a duckling break.
Tumblr media
And we're back with more Dark Omens I felt compelled to read. I find WIP English Gothic (M) by wild_iwaslivid so horrifying I skim it in the reading version of watching a scary movie through your fingers. I haven't even entered it in my fan fic spreadsheet. But every time I see a new chapter pop up on AO3, I can't resist reading it. Clerk Anthony Crowley is trafficked to the nefarious Aziraphale Prince. So why do I read it? The entire story is written in a series of letters, journal entries, and reports. Which means the abuse and other dark tags are referenced rather than shown directly. And it's still really disturbing. The story is well written and captures the language of an earlier time. I'd give up. But it's near the end. And I want to be sure poor Anthony gets away. However, if you don't want to read dark (and I mean DARK) Aziraphale, give this one a pass. If you can handle that aspect, check out how well the writer handles their material. In Why Does the Ortolan Sing (E) by @onedappercat, bookseller Azira is intrigued by the singer he hears performing at Nina's coffee shop. Intrigue leads to fascination with Crowley, the partner of a controlling mob boss. This one had me wanting to shake Azira for putting Crowley in danger. But the wonderful writing and desire to get to the happy ending kept me reading.
Line up at Club Eden (E) by @dustandhalos for all your gay, asexual, BDSM needs. Crowley is an incubus who runs a mysterious nightclub where people who enter find themselves forever changed (if they leave at all). Aziraphale went there intending to write about it for his paper. But the demon and the reporter find themselves drawn to each other and appear to have a mysterious connection. This Dead Dove fic is filled with violence. Crowley is a proper demon, although still morally complex compared to most of hell's personnel. The writer wrote one of my favorite heist fics, Stalwart Sun, Wily Moon and includes stunning artwork with their writing. I simply can't resist reading it. This WIP is nearly finished. I look forward to the big reveal of the exact connection between Aziraphale and Crowley. Finally, I tend to avoid both priest and sex worker fics. It hurts my heart to read the trauma these characters often suffer. So you'll probably be surprised that I'm finishing this list with a fic that pairs a priest with a sex worker: Lay Thee Sinner, 'Neath The Cross And Pole (E) by @ElysiumLeo (The_Nerd_Alert). Father Aziraphale's co-worker takes him to a strip club for his 50th birthday. He gets a lap dance from 30-something Anthony, an ambitious pole dancer who proposes an arrangement to teach the priest about sex so he can make an informed decision about whether he wants to remain in the priesthood. Okay, sounds like a great excuse to write lots of smut. But more than that, the writer writes explicit sex scenes that amazingly reveal things about the characters in the middle of the smut. They are a master of their craft. And despite my initial reluctance, they have made me really care about these characters and want to see where they end up and how they got there. Yes, this fic has all the trauma I normally avoid. But the characters are endearing and I found it worth reading despite tags I'd usually give a pass. This is another WIP about half way finished. Reblog and comment if you appreciate a well written Dark Omens. I'll be back next week with more Good Omens fic recs. I'll probably go the opposite way--perhaps a list of Live Doves: Give Them A Little Kiss fics. In the meantime, check out my other favorite fics on this pinned post of weekly Good Omens fan fiction recommendations. And if my faves appear to be your faves, check out my bookmarks on AO3--all the fics I rate in my top 10% of everything I've read.

Deprecating New XKit
Hi all, it's been a while!
tl;dr: You should use XKit Rewritten, it's new, shiny, and getting consistent updates. Get it from here: https://addons.tumblr.com/post/661324873572974592/xkit-rewritten. If you want to customize the appearance of Tumblr you should use the built-in settings or Palettes for Tumblr. You shouldn't rely on New XKit, it's old and busted.
Around four years ago, April, a core contributor to New XKit, started the XKit Rewritten and wider @addons projects to create a modern alternative to the already somewhat moldy New XKit. This was with our complete support, and many members of the New XKit team now also help out with XKit Rewritten and other addons.
Chrome and Firefox have both phased out support for older extensions, requiring challenging workarounds to install New XKit. It's become very clear that anyone who is still using New XKit would really have a better time using XKit Rewritten, Palettes and Outbox for Tumblr, and the couple XKit-inspired core Tumblr features.
If you continue to use New XKit for some key part of your Tumblr workflow be warned that it's past the end of its digital lifespan. Despite the name, New XKit is a crumbling old cathedral. You can still walk around in it if you really want to, but it has been fenced off for safety and a brick might fall on your head.
One key difference we'd like to highlight is that XKit Rewritten intentionally doesn't have a Blacklist feature, leaving it to Tumblr's native post filtering functionality. If you still need the specific functionality of New XKit's Blacklist, you can keep it installed alongside XKit Rewritten. Click here for a list of other frequently asked questions.
To summarize: Get XKit Rewritten here: https://addons.tumblr.com/post/661324873572974592/xkit-rewritten. It's like New XKit but designed for modern Tumblr and consistently updated. New XKit will still be around for anyone who really needs it but is a much buggier experience.
Thank you all very much for using New XKit! On behalf of the whole team it's been a great time with all of you here on [tumblr].

Seeing as how the Big Beautiful Bill just passed, here's are some websites that offer discounts on medications:
- GoodRx
- SingleCare
- Pharmacy Checker
- WellRx - this one compares prices across different pharmacies
- Cost Plus - thanks to @thedamnqueenofhell for suggesting!
Stay safe, everyone. Things are about to get much, much worse in the US.
EDIT: if you're worried about doctor/therapy appointments, see if there's a sliding scale clinic near you (and ask your therapist if they offer sliding scale prices)

I wish Americans fucked with more foreign music. You don’t have to know the language to appreciate a good record. Folks in other countries listen to our music and don’t speak a lick of english. Music needs no translator
