Every year on July 31st I think about how James would’ve made Harry’s birthday a whole event. Streamers everywhere, a cake shaped like a Snitch, wildly unsafe magical fireworks going off in the kitchen.

Lily would’ve rolled her eyes, cleaned up the mess, and then charmed the ceiling to look like stars just because she knew Harry loved them.

Today James would’ve joked about him being an old man now, and Lily would’ve smoothed his hair and told him to hush.

Lily would’ve made a cake from scratch, even if it sank in the middle, and James would’ve snuck icing with his finger until she smacked his hand away.

Harry could've had everything and instead he got a scar and a prophecy and a world that knew his name before he did.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY, but more importantly, IT'S HARRY'S BIRTHDAY TOO!!!!

still not over the stephen colbert thing, the way they're punishing him so much by not only essentially firing him but cancelling the show he loves in its entirety, which means also punishing all 200 people who work for and with him on the show.

it is setting an example. it's saying, "this is what happens when you speak truth to power. we will not only punish you. we'll punish the people around you that you've led and loved. is it worth it now, stephen? would it be worth it, other late night talk show hosts? if you don't keep quiet, we will quiet you". the other late night talk show hosts are not all under paramount (iirc, it's just the daily show), but this sets a precedent that tells them they are all vulnerable.

I need a little help here

idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.

Seeing people drive big lifted and totally pristine giant pickup trucks as just a car to get to and from work on fully paved roads is like watching a high energy working breed dog be forced to live in a 1 bedroom apartment and only go out for poop walks.

If you cant provide them the home they need its abuse. That truck should be hauling bricks, it needs to be maxing out its suspension hitting ridges at 65 mph. It should be dirty and dented because they love it. Theres no enrichment in your 1/4 mile drive to the gas station. Youre torturing it, youre killing that truck.
