Small Grants for Green Projects
The 2025 Bedminster’s Secret Gardens event in June was the twelfth open garden weekend Blooming Bedminster has organised since 2009 and this year was the most successful event to date. Over the weekend an amazing £6,600 was raised, which the organisers are offering to local gardening and environmental projects in the form of small grants. If you are a part of a group which wants to do something to make our community greener and more sustainable, you can apply for a grant of up to £400 to help. Perhaps you want to improve a green space near you, do something to increase biodiversity or organise a workshop with your neighbours.
Your group must be working in the Greater Bedminster area and the deadline for applications is 14th September. For more details and an application form, please email [email protected]. The organisers would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who opened their gardens and to Boardwalk Property who sponsored the event, making these grants possible.

Travel information
Walking and Cycling
If you can it is easiest to walk and cycle between the gardens. There are cycle racks by the shops on North St and by Southville Primary School on Stackpool Road.
Bus
The number 24 route between Ashton Vale and Southmead Hospital has several stops on North Street within walking distance of many of the gardens.
Train
There are two stations on the southern edge of the garden trail area. Parson Street Station and Bedminster Station. Some trains travelling between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston Super Mare/Taunton stop at these stations (check timetables for details). Both stations are approximately ten minutes walk from the nearest gardens open.
Car
The streets between North Street and Coronation Road, and Bower Ashton are covered by a resident parking zone on Saturdays. There are no parking restrictions in the residential streets on Sunday, however parking is on street and can be limited.
You can park cars at Long Ashton park and ride for free, just pay for the bus - Adult single fare £2.40/ Children aged 5-15 £1. Take the M2 metrobus from the park and ride. Option one: Alight at Cumberland Road, walk back over the river bridge, turn left and follow the path to the pedestrian crossing. Cross over and start your visit at the Frayne Road gardens. Option two: Alight at Wapping Wharf, walk over the pedestrian footbridge. Cross Coronation Road, turn left into Dean Lane, then first right to start your visit at the Stackpool Road gardens.

Could you design this year's Bedminster Good Garden Award?
This summer the Greater Bedminster Good Front Garden Awards will return. The organisers are now inviting entries for the design of this year's Award. Now in its 21st year, each summer volunteer judges give out thousands of awards across Ashton, Ashton Vale, Bedminster, Bower Ashton, Southville, Marksbury Road and Windmill Hill to say 'thank you' to those who's front gardens are making a green and pleasant contribution to the neighbourhood.
The design of the award should be on A4 size (it can be portrait or landscape). It should contain the words 'Good Garden Award 2025' and there should be a space to include the sponsors logo. The organisers would love to see a colourful award design that stands out in people's windows. Design submissions should be emailed to [email protected] by Wednesday 30 April. The winner will be chosen by a public vote in May. The awards will be given out in June.
