A good fanfic recommended by @sploopyghost. Marinette starts out as her normal paranoid possessive self and then slowly spirals into a darker path. The pov from adrien was eye opening and shows that he's a bit twisted and puts on a face for everyone. The reason that he was attracted to lila in the first place was because he recognized she was the same way. The thing that got me was marinette in her delusion is somewhat self-aware that she's in love with his facade but doesn't care.

When adrien agreste and marinette contacted vincent about coming on his podcast to clear up some things, he already had in mind that he was going to edit parts together to create his own story. What he didn't expect was for their entire story to be one giant red flag. Whenever marinette talked about adrien, she talked about him in a shallow way that was clear she really loved the image of him. She would go on about how handsome and nice he was, which is fine but it would never be anything beyond that. Adrien talked about her in a way that was clear he liked her as a friend but not enough to be dating her. He couldn't even answer when he started liking her, which is fine, sometimes people can't place exactly when they realized their feelings for their partner, but it sounded like he never thought of her as anything other than a friend and then conveniently in his words he was "going through a lot with his dad" around the time they started dating.

At this point vincent was heavily side eyeing marinette, he didn't say anything but it was starting to sound like she may have taken advantage of adrien's emotional state and lack of experience to score a boyfriend. When they finished recording he said that he would have it up by next week, of course he was lying he just needed time to investigate and figure out what was going on. For the next couple of days he went undercover and interviewed people who went to school with the couple. He found that everyone was surprised that he would date her since he showed no real interest and it was clear she was a fangirl. They watched as the girls encouraged her and joined in on planning "dates". Even when the guys knew they didn't seem to care, but somewhere along the way they also started helping her with plans.

They recounted when kagami came along she instantly hated her, even when they were "becoming friends" she still didn't like her. None of them understood how juleka could stand to be around her knowing that she had used her brother because adrien was dating kagami at the time, so she couldn't have him. He interviewed girls that had been harassed by her for trying to be friends with adrien, and while she had apologized to some of them it was obvious she was just saying it so they wouldn't tell adrien. They told him that while what they went through was annoying, none of them had it worse than sublime, and interviewing her, vincent couldn't agree more. Sublime had been stalked and harassed that ended with her prosthetics broken, which marinette excused as her "trying to become friends". Sublime wanted nothing to do with her but accepted her friendship because she was scared and didn't want her to go crying to her friends, which in turn would get them to harass her trying to explain the "misunderstanding" and force her to be friends.

The more vincent learned about marinette and her friends the more horrified he became. But he couldn't help but wonder, with their relationship constantly being all over social media, why didn't any of them come out and say how horrible of a person marinette was. The answer was that marinette presented the image of a clumsy, sweet girl who goes out of her way to help others. Her parents are sweet people who own one of the most popular bakeries in paris and she has connections to celebrities like jagged stone, style queen, clara nightingale, and even the late gabriel agreste. Anyone who didn't like marinette was immediately written off as jealous or a terrible person who has it out for her. Vincent has to admit that it would've been hard for any of them to expose her, while her reputation in school was horrible since everyone saw her for who she was, outside of school was a different story.

After getting enough evidence and interviews he started editing everything together. Vincent thought back to the beginning of everything. He started this thinking he would get more gossip to use, but then it spiraled and now he's left feeling sad for adrien. His girlfriend is a crazy fangirl and the people he thinks are his friends all know and even helped. He knew that when he posted this it would cause a huge media storm, but unlike his other posts this wasn't gossip or speculation without proof. This was the truth and he felt that everyone should know just what type of person marinette was beyond her facade.

The Effect was immediate, with news outlets reporting on it and even more people finally feeling comfortable to come out and tell their story. Vincent had also released the full unedited interview with the couple, so that people could see the red flags he saw, as well as tagging the celebrities tied to marinette. Because of this people didn't hesitate to turn to them, demanding answers and where they stood on the matter. The celebrities were quick to put out a public statement saying that they only met her briefly and didn't support or condone her behavior, effectively cutting ties with her publicly.

Miss anonymous was popular in Dupont for their gossip blog. No one knows how they do it but they're always right, even if a few details are off they're never wrong. Their blog is the place everyone goes to find out who's dating who, who cheated, who backstabbed, and who lied.

Suzie loved gossip, specifically gossip rooted in truth and not brainless gossip that obviously wasn't true. It was the reason why she created her miss anonymous blog. She was a social butterfly, so it was easy to flit around to different friend groups other than her own. Not even her friends knew she was miss anonymous. Suzie loved her friends and was always there for them, so when her friend emma came to her in near tears because someone had ruined some of the set and costumes for the play, she was determined to get to the bottom of things.

The play had to be delayed so they could have time to fix things and remake costumes. As suzie investigated into what happened, she found that marinette was the most suspicious out of everyone. Things were fine until she joined the crew as one of the costume designers. Things would be misplaced or went missing and suddenly they could no longer get a hold of certain fabrics they needed. Even now, marinette is dragging her feet and giving excuses as to why she didn't have the time to fix certain costumes. Through it all marinette is constantly suggesting changes to the play or suggesting getting rid of some characters. She specifically seemed focused on two side characters, which seemed odd to suzie. Asking around, she found that she's been saying that since joining and asking about the characters she found that they were a married couple, and that "john" was being played by adrien.

It wasn't a secret that marinette had a crush on adrien, everyone just ignored her and the akuma class not wanting to get mixed up in their mess. Suzie was no different, so for two weeks she observed marinette from afar and discovered that she was an obsessive creep. During her observation she decided to make her next blog post about marinette, so she recorded her ranting to her friends about how "evil" and "manipulative" jessica is before setting up an elaborate trap that ruined her pants, and recorded her and her friends planning a "date" between her and adrien where she then rambles about how he'll confess to her on the date and then they'll get married and have kids. After two weeks she had more than enough evidence for her post to show everyone just what a creepy fangirl she is.

Marinette arrived at school like normal, until she looked around and saw everyone whispering and pointing at her. When she got to her class she found that everyone was going through the same thing. As the day went on people continued to whisper about them, some of the guys got asked "if they knew" which they had no idea what they were talking about, and the girls were flat out avoided by everyone. When lunch came around they all decided to eat in their classroom not being able to take the looks and whispers. Adrien was the only one not there, other than chloe and sabrina, since he had a meeting with his fencing team.

Adrien was surprised and overwhelmed when he arrived and his teammates bombarded him with questions, asking if he was ok. When everyone calmed down and saw his confusion, they showed him the blog post. Reading through the post, adrien wanted to deny that marinette would ever be this kind of person, but as he read further and saw the videos he couldn't deny the proof. Adrien was on auto pilot when he arrived back at his class. Nino, noticing his distressed state, tried asking him what was wrong, but he only shook his head, not wanting to say it with marinette and alya behind them. Now that he was aware of marinette and her behavior, it was hard to miss the feeling of her burning stare. When him and nino were alone was when he showed him everything and asked if he knew since alya was a part of it.

Nino denied knowing anything about this, only knowing that alya told him that she had a crush on him, but promised he would talk with the others and get to the bottom of this. Nino decided to have everyone meet up at the park where he revealed the blog post. To the guys they finally understood why they were being asked "if they knew", especially nino and ivan since their girlfriends were involved. They couldn't believe that the girls thought that this kind of behavior was ok or cute even. The girls at least had the decency to look ashamed, they realized that this was the reason everyone was avoiding them and remembering the looks and whispers it was going to stay that way for a while.

It had been a couple of weeks since suzie had exposed marinette and her friends, everyone still avoids the girls and from what she's heard from some on the fencing team, adrien has been avoiding marinette like the plague. She was in the library getting a book for her class when she overheard marinette and alya talking. She quickly hid behind a shelf and listened as marinette complained about adrien avoiding her and alya comforting her, saying that they have to give him time to come around. As they left, marinette didn't notice something falling out of her bag. Out of curiosity suzie picked it up and decided to look through it. It was a normal planner, until she looked closer and saw fencing practice and photoshoot written down. She knew marinette wasn't a model or did fencing, so why did she have them written down? As she looked further, she froze seeing "adrien's doctor's appointment" surrounded by hearts and a note next to it saying to "bring him something to show your love".

It was then that suzie realized marinette's planner was filled with adrien's schedule. The schedule was incredibly detailed, down to the minute and it went on for months. She doubts adrien even knows his schedule in this much detail. Suddenly this got a lot more serious, marintte went from being a creepy fangirl to a creepy stalker fangirl. At this point the police needed to be involved, but before that she flipped though past months in the planner and took pictures to use for her next blog post. She didn't want to use the next few weeks, so she settled for older ones to use as proof.

Marintte was rushing around getting ready, she was already late for school. As she was rushing down the stairs she was stopped by her parents. Confused, she looked up and saw her parents pale faces and a police officer. At the same time, at school everyone got a notification from the miss anonymous blog. Everyone was in shock and horror at the new post titled "marinette, the stalker fangirl".

After sublimation was taken care of and she casted the miracle cure, marinette quickly headed to the Locker room to de transform and wait for sublime. She had it all planned out, she would apologize and explain everything to her, then they would become friends and look back on this situation in fondness and laugh about it. When the door opened, it revealed sublime's parents with her dad carrying her.

Sublime, upon seeing marinette, instantly tensed up and looked ready to leave despite not having her legs on at the moment. Her parents, seeing this, put their guard up wondering who this girl was and why their daughter was uncomfortable around her. Marinette, distracted by her lack of prosthetics, asked her where they were. Sublime looked at her weirdly before tensely explaining that they were broken. Confused, marinette stated that that wouldn't be possible because ladybug's miracle cure would have fixed it. Sublime didn't know what game she was playing, she knew her prosthetics had to be broken since she was the one who caused them to break. Her parents, having looked over the prosthetics finding soap on them, put two together and were quick to tell marinette to leave and never come near their daughter again unless she wants to be served with a restraining order.

Marinette was quick to run out of the locker room, not wanting to face their anger anymore. Once she was home she asked tikki if there was something wrong with the miraculous since it didn't fix sublime's prosthetics. Tikki looked at her confused before answering no. Before marinette could spiral tikki explains to her that the cure fixes the damage akuma's cause. Seeing that marinette was still confused, tikki sighs before having to spell it out to her. "Marinette, you caused sublime's prosthetics to break, not an akuma." When it finally sinks in, she starts to panic. If the cure wouldn't fix sublime's prosthetics then they would never become friends and if they don't become friends then sublime will tell adrien what she did. She continued to spiral trying to think of way to fix things but came up empty.

The next day at school marinette found herself on the receiving end of glares and whispers. People looked at her with disgust and suspicion when they heard what she did to sublime. Later, adrien had pulled her aside to confront her about what happened. Marinette rambled that sublime was just so perfect and that they looked really good next to each other. Adrien was hurt that marinette didn't trust him to not cheat but she denied thinking that of him. Saying that he was perfect and would never do anything like that, and that sublime was just new and she didn't know her. By the end of her rambling adrien was appalled that marinette felt the need to essentially vet sublime, like he couldn't have friends of his own, instead of getting to know her normally. No matter how much she explained he felt like nothing would ever justify what she did and decided that it would be best for both of them if they took a break. Marinette was devasted, but no matter how much she explained and pleaded adrien wouldn't change his mind

With middle school finished it was time to focus on high school and get a little more serious. The class were excited but a little nervous since they wouldn't be in the same class. Some of them had some classes together and would be able to see each other at lunch. Even if some of them had no classes with the others they would always be able to hang out after school and catch up. Unknowingly, high school would change them in a way they never expected.

The first change that they noticed was actually funny to them. It had been a few weeks since school started back up, they were all getting used to their schedules and the work they had. That's when they noticed Chloe and Sabrina weren't having an easy time, more specifically Chloe. In middle school Chloe had Sabrina do all of her work and keep track of things for her. Now, her and Sabrina don't even have classes together, so their work isn't the same, and the few times she tried to pass off Sabrina's work as hers the teachers immediately saw through it. It was an adjustment for both of them, Sabrina for once had to learn to put herself first unless she also wanted to be dragged into trouble with Chloe, and Chloe was learning that being the mayor's daughter didn't get her out of trouble anymore.

As the months passed and they got used to their schedules, the guys were the second to be hit with reality. It was slow at first and didn't hit them until they got together to talk. As they branched out and made more friends, they started to realize that Marinette's behavior was weird. Nino was the first to realize this when it was pointed out to him. At that time Marinette had another freak out and loudly rambled something about Adrien before running off. At first, he didn't think anything of it since he was used to it, but his friends talked about how weird she was. He didn't understand it since sure she could be a little weird but overall she was cool.

They pointed out how during free period she always seemed to track adrien down and how she had fantasies about a life together with him. Nino can admit that sounded pretty bad but he's sure it wasn't as bad as it looked, He felt bad about revealing her crush to them but he wanted to clear things up. The thing was they knew, everyone in the school knew, it was hard not to know with how loudly she'd talk about it. They pointed out that even with Marinette having a thing for him it was still weird that she had their supposed life planned out and tracked his every move. Then they asked a damning question, "would you do that?", and Nino was stunned, not because he didn't know the answer, he did, he just never thought of it that way. As much as he loved Alya it was way too soon to think about marriage or even kids, and he never felt the need to know where she was at every minute of the day.

After that day Nino was a lot more observant of Marinette's behavior and found himself becoming increasingly more unsettled. He decided he had to tell the guys, he subtly told them in a way that would make them more observant of her behavior but not outright accuse her. When they met up to talk they were all disturbed by her behavior and her frequent ramblings of a supposed future with Adrien. They start recalling past events where Marinette intervened with clear purpose of getting close to him. By the end of their talk they came to the conclusion that they needed to tell the girls and Adrien, but they didn't know how to bring it up. Unknown to them Adrien was coming to a conclusion of his own. To Adrien it was nothing new that Marinette stuttered her way through conversations with him. His friends however pointed out how she could never hold any type of conversation with him, but he brushed it off that she was just nervous and that she was still a great friend.

His friends seemed unsure of that and asked if they had ever hung out together or even had one decent conversation. Adrien didn't know how to respond to that, he thought back to every time they've interacted. It was always in a group setting and they never really had actual conversations because she was never coherent. He realized that he couldn't really say they were friends, just that they were once classmates and share friends. He felt kind of bad but what was he supposed to do, he can't force a conversation with her. As they talked more about it one of his friends blandly pointed out "you know she has a thing for you right?", Adrien didn't know what to say to that as his friends went on to explain. Apparently, everyone in the school knew about Marinette's thing for him and no one felt comfortable calling it other than a thing. A crush was something innocent and cute even, but what Marinette had for Adrien was anything but cute or innocent. With her following him around, watching his every move, and glaring at any girl he had a conversation with, it was clear that she went beyond a crush. Adrien didn't know what to say, he felt numb and his view of Marinette shattered.

Meanwhile the girls were facing the reality of Marinette's disturbing behavior and the part they played in it. Rose was the first among the girls to become disillusioned to her behavior. She was a romantic, she loved romance and thought Marinette's crush was cute. That is until her friends pointed out that it was anything but cute. Rose of course tried to explain otherwise, even bringing up some of the plans she and the girls did to try and get Marinette and Adrien alone on a date, like the rickshaw date they planned. However when she looked at her friends they looked a little horrified, they looked at each other before one of them asked rose "how would you feel if you were unknowingly on a date with someone you didn't know that well and suddenly had to confess your nonexistent feelings to them?".

Rose was about to respond but stopped, she never thought of it that way. If she was taken on a date she didn't consent to then confessed to and expected to confess feelings she may or may not of had she would feel beyond uncomfortable. She at least wanted to argue that Marinette and Adrien were friends but she could never hold any type of conversation with him and could barley hold herself together in his presence. The only thing she could argue was that Adrien wouldn't have had to accept her feelings if he didn't want to, but they pointed out that she and the girls were clearly going to be near by and everyone knows how Adrien is, he wouldn't have wanted to hurt her feelings but he would be put on the spot. The more her friends talked about how what she and the girls did wasn't okay the more she thought back to other plans the girls did to help Marinette. She remembered the schedule Marinette had and suddenly felt sick, she felt sick about the entire thing and the role she played in it.

Rose had told Juleka and they both went to the rest of the girls to talk about Marinette's behavior and the role they all played in it. From their perspective they were just helping a friend with a boy she really liked, but from an outside view they were doing a lot more than that. As they talked more they came to the harsh reality that Marinette was stalking Adrien and they had helped her. They felt awful, they had no idea how it even got this far and how they didn't see it earlier. One thing was certain though, they needed to come clean to the guys especially Adrien and apologize for the part they played in it. One thing they needed to do before going to them was to talk to Alya, she's Marinette's best friend and they worried that she might not see how far Marinette's gone.

At the same time on the other side of the school, Alya was having the same conversation with her friends. They were telling her that it wasn't normal for Marinette to glare at any girl who talked to Adrien or go so far as to harass them. Alya wanted to argue that Marinette could go a little far sometimes but that she meant well but was interrupted, they told her that the last girl Marinette harassed got seriously injured. Marinette had made her trip and unfortunately she was near the stairs and fell down. Alya didn't want to believe that she would do that, but she remembered hearing about it and how the girl was close to Adrien since they had a couple classes together. She remembered how Marinette came to her days before the incident freaking out about the girl, but she didn't think she would do something like that. However, Marinette's history tells a different story, she knew she worked with Chloe to harass Kagami when they were at a movie premiere because she had told her, though she was trying to gloss over the details.

Finally, one of her friends asked her "would you like it if Nino chased away every guy you ever talked to?", the answer was obvious, if Nino ever did that she would have broken up with him in a heartbeat. No one should want to be with someone that controlling. With that one thought it hit, why would Adrien want to be with someone who's controlling over who he can talk to. The more she thought about the more she realized that if by some miracle they ever got together it would be extremely toxic. Adrien already deals with a controlling dad why would he want to date someone who's equally controlling. With this revelation she needed to talk with the girls. Both the girls and the guys decided they had to meet with the others to tell them everything. When everyone eventually met up it was awkwardly silent for a little bit. They wanted to tell the others about Marinette but was unsure of how to do it for different reasons.

Not being able to take it anymore, kim blurts it out. All at once everything started coming out, the guys talked about what they found out and the girls talked about the stalking and having a part in it. The girls apologized to Adrien for the part they played in the stalking and gave more insight on some of the plans and her behavior, like her harassing Kagami and some of the other girls in school. The guys were horrified to hear about the plans and by the end of their talk everyone's view of marinette shifted. More than that, it was shattered. They could no longer look at marinette and see a girl with a cute crush. They decided that the guys would keep adrien away from marinette and warn their friends to keep a look out while the girls decided to try and talk with her.

The girls decided to have the conversation in marinette's room to make her feel more comfortable. However, the conversation quickly devolved into arguing, with the girls trying to explain how unhealthy everything was and marinette denying and feeling betrayed by them. In the end marinette wouldn't listen to them and they decided to cut ties with her, not wanting to be apart of or encourage her behavior. The last thing they did was warn her that she would eventually get in trouble if she continued before leaving to meet up with the guys to tell them the news. As weeks passed they kept to their word and didn't interact with marinette. She would still try and get close to adrien and harassed girls around him, but the guys and adrien's friends had their guard up and never let her get close. The next time any of them heard about her was that she had been suspended for messing with one of the girls costume for the school play. The girl in question was playing the love interest to adrien.

Marinette was excited, there was a fashion competition where the winner would get their work shown on the front of one of the most popular fashion magazines as well as be mentored by one of the fashion icons who were the judges. She was confidant going in, assuring herself that her designs would blow everyone away.

During the first trial of the competition they were tasked with making something in their signature style to introduce them to the judges and make them stand out. Marinette was confidant that she would impress them, but when it was her turn the judges were less than impressed. They critiqued her design saying how certain patterns clashed and design choices that didn't make sense. Overall they thought her piece wasn't cohesive and in the end she didn't get a good score. She was devastated that her piece was metaphorically ripped apart, but with some encouragement from her parents and friends she was determined to win the next trial. This was just a fluke, it wouldn't happen again.

The second trial didn't go any better with the judges being unimpressed with her outfit, calling it "bland" and "uninspired". They thought it was boring and not very creative. Once again she didn't get a good score and looking at her competitors outfits she felt a little insecure about hers. Things continued like this, in each trial her pieces were picked apart and she was given a terrible score. It was a week before the final trial, a runway showing off the best outfit you can put together, and marinette was stuck. She couldn't figure out what she was doing wrong. Out of curiosity to see what made her competitors different she decided to look up their social medias.

Looking them up she found that they often posted about their designs along side their other posts. Some even had separate accounts from their personal ones dedicated to their work and even small businesses. They had years of work to show for their passion, and while she had made her own website for her designs she hadn't really worked on it in months. Marinette shook her head, she couldn't get distracted now. This was her last chance to prove to the judges that she was the best designer out of the others. Afterall she won the hat competition hosted by the gabriel agretse, style queen complimented and even wanted to mentor her, and jagged stone liked her designs. What marinette didn't realize was gabriel agreste was more of a name brand now, especially with how expensive his clothes were. His clothes were expensive and bland, most people buy his clothes to say they have them not because they liked them.

Style queen was a name audrey gave herself, no one actually thought that of her. With ex coworkers and employees coming out about her verbal abuse not to mention video footage of it, she's in a scandal every other day. Her designs are good but because of her attitude and overall terrible reputation no one wants to risk working with her. Jagged stone is an awesome rockstar but he's just that, a rockstar. As great and well loved as he is he's not a fashion designer. During the finale marinette got an average score, which still wasn't great but it was the best she had gotten out of the entire competition. In the end she lost, not even placing. The people in the top ten at least caught the judges attention even if they didn't win, while marinette didn't leave any impression on them.

Alternate Ending

Gabriel was ecstatic when volpina almost got the ladybug miraculous, though she failed it was the closest he had ever gotten to getting one of the miraculous. Seeing ladybug so desperate to save "adrien", he planned to have more of his akumas take hostages. They just wouldn't be so focused on his son, even if volpina didn't really take adrien hostage the idea of it left a pit in his stomach. He might not be the greatest father but he drew the line at akumatizing crazed fans, and from the link he shared with lila when she was akumatized he could tell she wasn't a fan but she was definitely unhinged.

However, no matter how many of his akuma's took hostages ladybug never faltered. He tried taking hostages around adriens age but she never failed. Sure, she was frustrated and appalled at his tactic but she always came up with a plan to save them. It was frustrating, what made the volpina incident so different?, what made her throw out common sense and just give up? Then it clicked, it wasn't the age of the person that mattered nor the amount, it was the person, it was adrien. Adrien himself was the only difference in all of these scenarios, and to test his theory his next akuma had similar powers to volpina. Just as he thought, ladybug was willing to give up her miraculous without hesitation when "adrien's" life was threatened. It was clear that she either knew him in her personal life or was a fangirl, which made planning to get her miraculous so much easier.

Gabriel waited a couple of months before enacting his plan, deciding to do it during an event where adrien and other celebrities were attending. He gave his akuma the power to make copies of people and made sure to keep them away from adrien. For his plan to work he needed to separate chat noir and ladybug, seeing as both times chat noir saw through the illusion. And just like last time, when the akuma threatened the adrien copy ladybug was already reaching for her miraculous. Gabriel was surprised that the girl behind the mask was one of his son's classmate but quickly put that aside and ordered his akuma to grab the miraculous. A copy had quickly grabbed the miraculous, getting it back to the akuma. Gabriel, not wanting to take any chances ordered his akuma to a roof top away from there to give him the miraculous.

The akuma sent their copies to keep marinette from following while they escaped. Once gabriel had the earrings he ordered his akuma to continue fighting and get the ring. In the end his akuma failed but he wasn't upset about it. He was finally able to get the ladybug miraculous and without it chat noir would have a hard time battling his akuma's. Without the ladybug miraculous the akuma wasn't purified and damages caused during the fight weren't fixed. His akuma was still out there and it was only a matter of time before someone was akumatized.

The day after felix impersonated adrien and recorded himself saying mean things, adrein apologized for his cousin. He felt a little embarrassed at what happened and that his friends ended up akumatized because of it. However, the class brushed it off saying that it was fine and started joking about it. Adrien laughed along with them, until they brought up how they really thought felix was adrien. At first he didn't think anything of it, afterall they did look alike and felix was really good at impersonating him. But then they went into detail about how they only knew him for a few months so they believed that he would say those things and be like chloe. Looking around he saw everyone agree and laugh like it was a funny joke, like they hadn't just shattered his view of them. They weren't wrong they had only known each other for a few months, but hadn't he shown he wasn't a cruel person? Was their friendship that shallow that they would so easily turn on him?

For the rest of the day adrien smiled and laughed along with the class to mask him spiraling and thinking about their friendship. During fencing practice his team mates noticed his distracted state and eventually asked about it. He was hesitant to say, fearing he was overreacting, but eventually told them about the situation and what had happened. They were quick to reassure him telling him that anyone else would also be questioning their friendships. Still seeing that he was down they decided to invite him to hang out with them and encouraged him to hang out with other people other than his class. He felt kind of bad distancing himself from the class but they reassured him that he was allowed to make other friends and there was nothing wrong with taking a break and rethinking friendships.

For the next couple of months adrien put some distance between him and the class while making other friends. He would be lying if he said it didn't hurt to see how the class never took notice of the distance or really pay much attention to him in general. He focused on his friendships with others and overtime saw the difference between them and the class. They paid attention to what he was saying and remembered things as small as his favorite color to his dislike of being the center of attention. Whenever they have personal projects and want to involve friends they always ask if he wants to join, and when he accepts they give him a role he's comfortable with instead of putting him front and center. The difference between his new friends and the class was like night and day, and him being framed was what really cemented the difference between them.

He was framed for messing with people's projects in the art room and seeing as he was the last person everyone saw leaving the room he expected no one to speak up in his defense. Except his friends were quick to defend him saying how "he would never do that" and "he's not that type of person". In the end everything was resolved and the real culprit was found but he wasn't paying attention. He was stunned and happy that his friends didn't hesitate to defend him. Just like the class they were aware that he's friends with chloe and don't really like her, but they know that her actions don't reflect him. He was his own person and they treated him like he was.

Gabriel was ecstatic when volpina almost got the ladybug miraculous, though she failed it was the closest he had ever gotten to getting one of the miraculous. Seeing ladybug so desperate to save "adrien", he planned to have more of his akumas take hostages. They just wouldn't be so focused on his son, even if volpina didn't really take adrien hostage the idea of it left a pit in his stomach. He might not be the greatest father but he drew the line at akumatizing crazed fans, and from the link he shared with lila when she was akumatized he could tell she wasn't a fan but she was definitely unhinged.

However, no matter how many of his akuma's took hostages ladybug never faltered. He tried taking hostages around adriens age but she never failed. Sure, she was frustrated and appalled at his tactic but she always came up with a plan to save them. It was frustrating, what made the volpina incident so different?, what made her throw out common sense and just give up? Then it clicked, it wasn't the age of the person that mattered nor the amount, it was the person, it was adrien. Adrien himself was the only difference in all of these scenarios, and to test his theory his next akuma had similar powers to volpina. Just as he thought, ladybug was willing to give up her miraculous without hesitation when "adrien's" life was threatened. It was clear that she either knew him in her personal life or was a fangirl, which made planning to get her miraculous so much easier.

Gabriel waited a couple of months before enacting his plan, deciding to do it during an event where adrien and other celebrities were attending. He gave his akuma the power to make copies of people and made sure to keep them away from adrien. For his plan to work he needed to separate chat noir and ladybug, seeing as both times chat noir saw through the illusion. And just like last time, when the akuma threatened the adrien copy ladybug was already reaching for her miraculous. Gabriel was surprised that the girl behind the mask was one of his son's classmate but quickly put that aside and ordered his akuma to grab the miraculous. A copy had quickly grabbed the miraculous but before they could run away with it, chat noir had knocked them off their feet grabbing the earrings.

Chat couldn't believe that he was actually holding ladybug's earrings, that an akuma was actually able to get them. With no time to dwell on it, he quickly put the miraculous in his storage space and continued the fight with the akuma. By the end chat didn't feel like he won. He lost his partner and on top of that he couldn't purify the akuma or fix any of the damages. He had already used his cataclysm during the fight so he couldn't destroy it either. Looking back he saw marinette awkwardly standing there, it wasn't hard to put two together and figure out she was ladybug. He gave her a bittersweet smile "i can't give you the miraculous back". Marinette was shocked, she knew with her identity exposed she couldn't have it back but she had hoped that in some way she could, and to hear it from chat noir of all people. Chat only looked around at the people who came out of their hiding places recording, with so many witnesses and no doubt videos there was no way marinette could have anything to do with the miraculous in the future.

With only a few minutes left before transforming back, he quickly left leaving marinette the sole center of attention of everyone. Backstage in his designated room, adrien was panicking and trying to figure out what he and the kwamis should do next. Tikki needed a holder and paris needed the ladybug miraculous to purify and repair damages. As they were discussing they were interrupted by the news announcing another akuma and it spreading. Just like with stone heart when ladybug forgot to purify the akuma it multiplied and made things worse. Not seeing any other option, adrien combined the two miraculous and set out to face the akuma.

Adrien was a little surprised and happy to hear about his good luck passive ability, but he took tikki's warning to heart and promised not to use it recklessly. The only times he actively used his ability was to get away from his fans or avoid his bodyguard to stay out a bit longer. However, even when he's not actively using it it still responds to his emotions, leading to situations with luka that leave him flustered and his heart beating wildly. Adrien always becomes embarrassed whenever tikki teases him about the miraculous playing matchmaker.

Marinette wasn't happy hearing about her bad luck ability, thinking that others would think she was some sort of jinx bringing them bad luck. This changed one day when chloe was being her usual self and said something mean. She was upset with her but didn't say anything, knowing it wouldn't lead anywhere, but her ability responded to her emotions and not long after chloe had a bucket of water dumped on her. It was then marinette realized she could use this, and since then she's used it to get back at chloe and on girls she felt were no good and trying to take advantage of adrien. She was confused why the ability didn't seem to work on the girls when they were around adrien but since it worked on them anyway as soon as they left him, she didn't care.

She was happy with the ability since it gave her the power to "protect" adrien from girls who were trying to manipulate him, and brushed off plagg assuring him she wouldn't go overboard. Though lately, she's noticed that he and luka have been getting really close. She liked them both, of course no one could ever compare to adrien, but she like the attention she got from luka. She brushed it off at first since there was no way adrien would be into guys, but then she saw how cozy they looked together and how adrien would blush around him. Not taking any chances she turned her attention towards luka and wasted no time in giving him bad luck.

Adrien was concerned for luka, for the past couple of weeks everything's been going wrong for him. From losing his picks and breaking his guitar strings to his notebook he writes lyrics in getting ruined, it seemed like he couldn't catch a break. When adrien was visiting him he seemed to be having a particularly bad day. Luka was breathing in and out trying to calm down so not to attract an akuma. When adrien asked what happened all luka did was point over where his guitar laid broken beyond repair. Adrien was in shock, he knew what that guitar meant to him and to see it in pieces broke his heart. He didn't say anything, he knew there wasn't much he could say that would comfort him. So, instead he sat there with him, hoping his presence would be enough.

After that day it seemed luka's luck turned around. Adrien was over the moon that luka seemed to be in better spirits, though he found it weird how for weeks he seemed to have really bad luck and now he has extremely good luck. Until tikki revealed that because he felt so strongly for him and wanting to help, a little bit of magic latched on surrounding him in a thin layer of good luck magic canceling out the bad luck surrounding him. Adrien became flustered that the magic gave away his feelings again, before sobering at the last part. Tikki explained that the bad weeks he's been having was caused because of the bad luck surrounding him, bad luck given to him by plagg's holder. Hearing this, he wanted to believe it was a misunderstanding since it was a passive ability, but his hopes were quickly dashed when she explained that the amount of bad luck surrounding him was intentional. She also couldn't help but wonder how often lady noir was using her ability if she was so comfortable using it this intensely.

The answer came when the next akuma attack happened. lady noir used her cataclysm but instead of just destroying the item it spread. It formed a sort of cataclysm dome, spreading out and destroying everything in its path. Seeing this, adrien wasted no time in purifying the akuma and casting the miracle cure. Thankfully the cure had worked, setting things right and bringing people back to life, but it was clear to him that lady noir had overused her passive ability. Running out of time before they transform back, he demanded that they meet later to get some answers. The media wasted no time reporting on the incident, theorizing that lady noir could be a danger to them because of her losing control of her powers.

Unfortunately for adrien, lady noir only made excuses about her overusing her ability saying that she had a good reason for using it. Hearing that adrien snapped, "how could you possibly justify using your ability to harass luka couffaine". Lady seemed shocked, about to ask how he could know that, but he wasn't finished. "you know, with how hard you were trying to make luka miserable i wonder who else you did this to. I'm just glad my ability protected him from yours". Hearing this, lady quickly put together that he was the reason her ability wouldn't work on luka anymore and snapped accusing him of interfering in things that weren't his business. As they continued to argue they failed to notice a civilian recording their argument. They, like everyone else, were terrified when they saw the news of lady noir losing control of her power, but to hear that the reason is because she overused her ability to hurt people in her personal life was terrifying. If she was willing to hurt people who, from what mr bug was saying, did nothing wrong, what else was she willing to do.

Not Enough Luck To Go Around Pt.2

Adrien was stressed now that ladybug's powers weren't reliable. In the beginning they tried fighting how they usually would but found out quickly that her strength, stamina, and agility were cut in half. She was more of a burden than she was any help. The only good thing to come from this situation was that he gained a new power. It was during one of his fights, things weren't looking great, he was trying to contain the akuma to cause less damage, and he was struggling to save his cataclysm. He was desperate looking for a solution and in his panic he gained "black out", giving him the ability to create a dome of darkness around the akuma. Thanks to his new powers battles have gotten a little easier. He's also extremely thankful to luka for helping take his mind off things. He always seems to know when he's stressed but never questions him on it and instead invites him out to have fun.

Marinette was not having a good time and was finding out the hard way what it meant to overuse her powers. Her reputation as ladybug was going down hill since the video of her and chat's talk went viral. It didn't help that she couldn't do much during akuma attacks and was forced to stay out of the way off to the side. She thought she would at least have a sense of normalcy in her civilian life but that only lasted for a month and a half before things started going wrong. The celebrities she connected with were barely interested in her anymore and that's if they remembered her or her designs. Tikki explained that she used the power of luck to gain their attention and now without it she has to use her own skills to keep it. On top of that rumors in school have been going around about how terrible of a person she is. Unknown to her, the ability covered her when she would follow adrien around school and talk loudly about how "evil" a girl was for being close to him or about the future she's going to have with him. When she would harass other girls than give a half assed apology, the ability would sway them into forgiving her because they saw her as sincere and genuine. Now that marinette can't use the ability anymore, people see who she is as a person and no one is forgiving her for her actions.

Luka is an empath, so he always knew more than he let on and what people told him. When he first met marinette he was intrigued, not because of what he's heard from his sister, but because of her heart song. At first it was sweet, until he listened a little longer and it turned into something dark and twisted. What intrigued him though was hearing a completely different melody trying to cover up her song. The melody was beautiful and enchanting, like it was trying to draw him in, but it was hollow which is why he knew it wasn't hers. It didn't take long to figure out that she was ladybug when she and chat noir rescued him, and later meeting adrien putting together he was chat noir. He figured that the miraculous was the reason for the second melody, and seeing the video of her admitting to overusing her abilities gave more weight to the idea. Since then he's made it his mission to stay close to adrien and help him destress.

It was obvious that the stress of him being the sole hero with ladybug practically being dead weight was getting to him. He wanted to offer adrien a break, for him to not have to worry about the next fight. He invited him to hang out, just the two of them, as often as he could, whether it was just hanging out on the houseboat in his room or going out ice skating. During one of their hangouts he offered to go get slushies for them, he ran into an old man in a hawaiian shirt having trouble paying for his. He paid for the man's slushie and declined his offer of repayment, not knowing that the man has been watching for a couple of months now. When luka got home after his date hangout with adrien he found a small box on his bed. Opening it revealed a pair of earrings and a small creature calling themselves tikki.

All the miraculous have a passive ability that is always active, though the holder can put more effort into consciously using their ability. The ladybug gives the holder good luck while the cat gives bad luck to people around their holder. When adrien was told this he was horrified that he would end up hurting people, but plagg calmed him down saying that they would only be mildly inconvenienced, like losing a pencil or tripping. It did however, respond to his emotions, so, if he was upset with someone or felt uncomfortable it would respond and lash out at that person, and it would do more than just trip them. He had warned him that if he overused this ability it would mess up his powers as chat noir, which he acknowledged but he hadn't planned on using it so he didn't feel the need to be cautious.

Marinette however, was overjoyed when she was told that she could give herself even more good luck. Tikki warned her that if she overused it it could mess with her powers as ladybug, but marinette assured her that she would use it responsibly. In the beginning it was great, she used it to get noticed during the hat competition for the school, to get noticed by jagged stone, and even make connections with other celebrities. What frustrates her though is no matter how much she used the ability she just couldn't get a perfect date with adrien, and instead would end up humiliated in front of everyone. Unknown to her and adrien, his bad luck cancels out her good luck, but overtime adrien started to recognize the signs of her being a fangirl and grew uncomfortable being around her. In return his ability responded to his emotions and anytime she reached out with with her ability to try and sway things around him to go her way it canceled it out and lashed out against her, leaving her humiliated.

It was during an akuma fight marinette found out just how much she overused the ability. It started out like any other fight until she tried to summon lucky charm, it almost looked like it glitched before giving her the object. She brushed it off and tried to use her ladybug vision, but found that things around her were barely lighting up. When she finally put together a plan that's when things went wrong. The plan failed and caused more destruction and got people hurt. She was in shock before chat noir pulled her out of it and took her to the side. Chat asked her what was happening, until he put together that she was having trouble using her powers. "You overused your passive ability, didn't you?", ladybug looked away embarrassed. Adrien was in shock, sure plagg warned him of overusing his ability but he was never going to use it anyway. So, to see the consequences of it was horrifying, and ladybug who always preached about being responsible to be the one to carelessly use her ability was sobering.

With no time to dwell on the situation chat quickly takes charge, keeping in mind to save his cataclysm in case her purifying powers didn't work. After defeating the akuma, adrien held his breath as ladybug's yoyo snapped closed around the butterfly. When she released it, nothing changed, it was still the same, not taking any chances adrien wasted no time using his cataclysm to destroy it. Her miracle cure was also affected, buildings had cracks in them and looked like they would fall apart at any moment, people who had injuries or broken bones were somewhat healed and now had fractures or phantom pains, and the people who died were now alive but in a coma. With little time left before they transformed back chat told ladybug to meet him later to figure out what to do.

News outlets quickly picked up that ladybug's powers weren't working and speculated that she could be losing her powers. To say that people were scared and worried would be an understatement, their loved ones were injured or in a coma and their homes were destroyed. Panicked, marinette asked tikki if there was a way to fix this. Tikki only shook her head saying she had warned her this would happen, there was no easy way to fix this. Marinette had to stop using the ability so the miraculous wouldn't be stretched thin and "recharge", and that it might take a while before she can fully use her full powers again. Meeting up with chat noir she told him what her kwami had said, leaving out how she overused it. Chat wasn't having it and immediately questioned how she overused it despite her kwami's warnings. With chat relentlessly questioning her, she snapped, saying that she used it to get things she deserved and that she deserved nice things.

The silence that followed stretched for a few minutes before chat broke it, "how long have you been using your ability?". Ladybug looked away and chat changed his question, "when did you start using your ability?". Ladybug quietly answered, "three weeks after getting the miraculous." Chat was in shock, for an entire year she's been using her ability non stop, no wonder it would take a while to "recharge". Chat calmed himself down, fighting over it would get them no where. The only thing they could do now was try and prepare for upcoming battles where ladybug wouldn't be able to use her powers. Unknown to them, someone had recorded the entire conversation. They were walking by when they spotted ladybug and chat noir on a nearby rooftop and overheard the conversation. They couldn't believe it, the reason ladybug couldn't use her powers was because she overused it in her personal life to win competitions and be close to celebrities. They were appalled that one of their "protectors" would carelessly use their powers like that, and when they uploaded the video, others thought the same

Marinette and adrien were dating, at least that's what tom and sabine thought. One day while marinette had the girls over, she was about to deliver them some cookies when she overheard them planning a date between her and adrien. She thought it cute that she got her friends help to plan out their date. She didn't want to interrupt them, so she headed back down and told tom everything. It wasn't long before the girls came rushing down the stairs and out the door, no doubt to enact their plan.

As months passed they dropped subtle hints to marinette about inviting adrien over but she would always get flustered. They figured it was because she didn't want them to embarrass her in front of him, like any other teenager with their significant other. They finally got the chance to talk with him when she brought him over one day, though only briefly before marinette took him upstairs to her room. They occasionally checked on them just to make sure nothing was going on before being shooed out of the room. An hour later adrien came downstairs and they decided to chat with him before he left. During their chat he asked if he could take some chocolate sweets with him, which they were happy to pack for him.

As they were packaging his order he mentioned that he wanted to share them with blake. Tom and sabine looked at each other questioningly, wondering who blake was. Marinette never mentioned a blake and they never saw a new face hanging out with her friends. When asked he said that she was a musician and his girlfriend, they froze hearing this. Tom's immediate reaction was anger, thinking he was cheating on his daughter, but with a look from sabine he held back. Clearly there was something they were missing, adrien's a sweet boy and cheating didn't seem like something he would do. When asking him about her, he had this adoring look on his face before launching into a rant about her and how they met. From the information they gathered from adrien's rant, he and blake have been together for a long time and he completely adores her. Which confused them since they thought he was dating marinette, so, they asked how things were between him and marinette.

Adrien hesitated before responding that everything was fine, but the way he said it it was phrased like a question. Sabine gave him a stern look, gently telling him that he could be honest. He gave them an apologetic look before telling them that he and marinette aren't really friends, they don't hang out or talk and him coming over to do this project is the only form of interaction he's had with her. Any other form of 'interaction' he's had with her has been other people talking for her while she stands awkwardly to the side. Again, he apologized if they thought that he and marinette were friends but they waved him off saying he had nothing to apologize for. After adrien left tom and sabine talked about what they found out. Sabine was adamant that she overhead the girls talking about setting up a date between marinette and adrien, but from what adrien said, he had a girlfriend and they weren't even friends.

Getting no where they decided to ask marinette about it over dinner, but while tom was hopeful that marinette would have an answer that would clear up everything, sabine doubted that she would give them a straight answer. Over dinner they asked her about adrien and as usual she was blushing as she talked about how sweet and great he was. Then they asked about blake saying that they heard from adrien about his girlfriend, like a switch was flipped her whole demeanor changed. She grumbled as she said she was ok but went on to say that she was stuck up and thought she was better than everyone. They wanted to believe marinette but hearing her talk about adrien like they have some sort of connection when in reality they're not even friends, they just can't trust her perspective on things anymore. When she started getting suspicious of them asking her about her relationship with adrien, they decided to drop it for now.

In the morning when marinette left for school, they went up to her room to search for answers themselves. They knew that it would be an invasion of privacy and breach of trust but they also knew they weren't going to get accurate answers from her. Looking around her room they saw the same adrien posters they always saw that she put up after meeting him, except now knowing that they weren't friends or even talked to each other, it seemed a lot less cute. Looking deeper into her room is where they found the chest full of presents with adrien's name on them, more posters under her bed, and his schedule that seemed to go on for a couple of years. Horrified, they immediately began to clean out her room, making sure to check every hidden place and removed her computer. While tom was cleaning out the last of the posters and presents, sabine called the girls parents. If they can plan a 'date' between marinette and adrien, knowing he has a girlfriend, think it was a good idea and actually go through with it, then their parents needed to be involved too.

Talking with the other parents about the situation, they all agreed that it would be best if the girls separated for a bit. Sabine and tom decided that it would be best to transfer marinette to a different school, not wanting her to be in the same vicinity as adrien. When marinette got home she immediately went up to her room only to see it bare. Tom and sabine wasted no time explaining to her that they cleaned out her room and that she would be switched to a different school. Marinette didn't understand why they were doing this, she loved adrien and was doing everything for him. Hearing this, tom and sabine looked at each other worried, their daughter saw nothing wrong with stalking the poor boy or making his girlfriend out to be a bad person for simply dating him. As marinette went on to excuse her behavior they knew that switching schools wouldn't be enough, so, they decided they would enroll her into an all girls correction school. They didn't want to send their only daughter away but with the way she was behaving it wouldn't be long before she spiraled and really hurt someone. the next day marinette didn't even get to say goodbye to her friends before her parents drove her to her new school and dropped her off. For the next few months this is where she'll be staying, and she couldn't even get in touch with her friends since her phone had been taken. Not that it would have mattered anyway since the girls were grounded and told to take a break from one another for a bit, and to make sure of this their parents had switched their classes, so, none of them had the same classes anymore.

Everyone in school knew that chloe was the queen and that whatever she said goes. It was why she was so cruel and vindictive with the power she held over everyone. Overtime she mellowed out especially since akuma attacks started happening. She was still a bit bitchy but she was more sassy than mean. They no longer felt like they had to walk on egg shells around her or watch their backs. They could actually hang out with her and have a good time. With chloe being more chill instead of reining over them like a tyrant, it gave other rich/influential kids more confidence to act out and bully others. Unfortunately for them, chloe didn't take them stepping out of line kindly and was quick to remind them of their place. From then on everyone knew that chloe was the only one keeping them in their place and their school days peaceful.

So, when chloe was switching schools to pursue better opportunities everyone knew it was only a matter of time before the other rich kids would start to act out. They threw her a goodbye party, happy for her to get new opportunities but sad to see her go, as well as uneasy for when she leaves. It didn't take long for the other rich kids to take advantage of chloe leaving and abuse their power. Fortunately for everyone it seemed like they didn't want to risk any of them telling chloe about their bullying and largely stayed away from them. They stayed away from anyone who was friends or on good terms with chloe, and instead went after an easier target, the akuma class. They were the only ones who still actively hated chloe for things she did years ago on top of being avoided by the rest of the school because of their akumatazations.

No one blamed the victim for being akumatized, but when you get akumatized so much that it becomes what you're known for no one's going to want to be around you anymore. Adrien had watched on in disappointment when the class threw a party celebrating chloe leaving. He didn't know when it started but at some point he had started to notice that the class often blamed chloe when things went wrong for them and even some akumas. He tried to tell them that chloe didn't do anything but every time they would always brush him off telling him he was just too nice. Ever since then he distanced himself from them, not wanting to hear them blame her for something she wasn't even there for. However, that didn't mean he didn't feel bad for them when the bullying started.

Unlike chloe they were a hell of a lot crueler when it came to bullying. They would make paint bombs explode on them, set up glitter traps, ruin their work, and even cover them in glue and feathers. The class would often complain about the constant attacks they went through, but one thing never changed, they still blamed chloe. Adrien couldn't believe what he was hearing, it had been months since chloe transferred and they still somehow found a way to blame her. At this point he couldn't stay quiet anymore, "chloe isn't here anymore, remember". They all fell silent at that, as if remembering that chloe was no longer here, until alya spoke up. "Still, they're chloe's friends and she probably told them to start messing with us now that she's no longer here". The others nodded their heads and agreed as if that made sense. "except they aren't chloe's friends", he responded.

They only shook their heads insisting that they had to be with how cruel they were. Nino spoke up "look dude, we get that chloe is your childhood friend but you're way too nice to see how awful she can be". The others agreed, giving adrien a pitying look. Adrien hated that look, as if he were a child who didn't know any better. He took a deep breath, getting angry wouldn't solve anything and instead asked a simple question, "when was the last time chloe had done something mean to any of you?". Without hesitation they all started listing things chloe had done to them and things she's ruined, the common thing he's noticed is that they all talked about it like it happened last week. Adrien just sighed, "half of those things happened three years ago while the other half, she wasn't even there for. Even before chloe switched schools she hadn't messed with any of you for three years, and she never hung out with any of you so all of those parties and events that went wrong were never her fault. It's like your automatic response to anything that goes wrong is to blame her. You don't have to forgive chloe but you do have to acknowledge that the "proof" you use to say that she's a horrible person falls flat." With that adrien left not bothering to hear their response or excuses, he still felt bad for them but he couldn't listen to them continue to blame chloe, he was done with them and the situation.

Patience Pt.2

In the few months of lila attending dupont she had become popular and established herself as the schools sweetheart. Unlike chloe who boasted about being the "queen bee" of the school, lila was actually liked and invited to things by other people. She knew when she first arrived that she couldn't limit herself to the class and expanded her influence outside of them. Marinette however, still wants to prove to her friends that she's a lair, and in turn the class tries to keep the fact the marinette doesn't like her from her to 'protect' her feelings. Lila wasn't worried about marinette since no one believed her but lately she seemed more jittery than usual.

She decided that she would once again get closer to adrien, and the best way to do that was to sit next to him. Lila never did things half way and always committed to her performance, so, when she was walking with some of her classmates she lightly sprained her ankle going down the steps. They had taken her to the nurse where she got her ankle wrapped and some ice. Heading to the classroom, they had already made arrangements for her to sit in the front and adrien had offered to help her. She made a show of apologizing to nino for taking his seat and nathaniel for not being able to sit next to him. They had both waved her off saying it was fine and alix offered for nathaniel to sit next to her, which spiraled into everyone picking their own seats.

When marinette finally showed, it was obvious to lila that she was upset about the seating arrangement. She questioned her about her ankle, which she gladly showed off, before she complained about having to sit in the back. Lila took note of the fact that she was clearly upset she was sitting next to adrien, but made it seem like she was upset at having to sit in the back. Adrien offered to sit somewhere else, which she didn't want but didn't voice because that would be out of character, but marinette loudly objected to it. She took this as a chance to state that she didn't mind sitting somewhere else, but that sitting in the front would have been easier on her ankle. With that everyone glared at marinette for making something from nothing before she was sent to the back.

During lunch some of her classmates brought her tray so she didn't have to wait in line with her ankle. As they were talking she made sure to 'show' interest in their hobbies and ask about how they were doing. When she realized she needed some napkins she stood up to get some. They offered to get them for her but she declined since it was close by and she didn't want them to catch on to her using them. As she was walking she heard her name being called, just as she looked over she saw something quickly sliding across the floor towards her. She quickly moved out of the way landing awkwardly on her sprained ankle, she looked at marinette, shocked that she would actually go that far to try and prove she was lying. While marinette smiled triumphally thinking she won, the others were horrified and quickly rushed towards lila.

They checked her over asking if she was ok before chastising marinette. Some of them were there walking with lila before she sprained her ankle, so, for marinette try and use this as 'proof' that she was faking backfired. Lila watched as marinette stormed off to the bathroom, still in shock that she would be that impulsive. She brushed off everyone's concerns saying she was fine and wanted to talk to marinette to 'check on her'. Talking to her proved to do nothing but rile her up, she went on to say that the only way they could ever be friends was if she stopped lying. She internally rolled her eyes at that, she doesn't know why marinette was pretending to care that she was lying. Sure, a part of her probably hates that she's lying to her friends but the real reason she hates her and could never be friends was because she was close to adrien. After their brief exchange she pretended to be hurt by her words and left.

In the hallway she ran into adrien, who asked if she was alright. She didn't say specifically what happened but eluded that it had something to do with marinette, she made a show of 'not wanting to talk about it' and 'wanting to be alone for a bit' before walking away. She was sure he would hear from the rest of the class if not others in the school what marinette had done. It was then she spotted an akuma aimlessly wandering, and thought this would be the perfect thing to add a bit more tragedy to her story. She knew whatever emotions she pushed forward would be driving her as an akuma, and what better emotions than fear, vulnerability, and wanting nothing more than to protect yourself. Lila's akuma transformed the school into a sort of twisted wonderland with creatures only having the goal to protect lila, and at the heart of it all was lila's curled up form, sleeping in a giant flower.

When lila woke after being de akumatized she was met with chat noir asking if she was ok. Seeing the crowd surrounding them, she thanked him before 'hesitating' to explain that she was scared because of what her classmate had done and when she tried to talk to her in the bathroom she yelled at her. People began whispering, already knowing it was marinette because of the incident in the cafeteria but were unaware that lila had tried to talk to her after. They started to wonder what marinette could have said that made her so scared, some theorizing that maybe she threatened her.

When she made it back to class, her classmates surrounded her asking if she was ok and what happened. She 'didn't' want to make trouble for marinette but she explained that she just wanted to clear things up with her before she suddenly started yelling at her. When marinette entered the classroom, everyone stopped and stared. Marinette looked around and saw the glares and disappointed looks, she kept her head down as she walked to the back to her seat. Lila was a lot of things but she wasn't completely unfair, she feels like she did enough damage and would back off for now, but if marinette persisted than she would have to get rid of her.

Marinette was shy and didn't talk to others, it wasn't until this year she started coming out of her shell and talking to others in class. She still spent most of her time with alya given she's her best friend, but she does occasionally hang out with the rest of the girls. All this to say that rose and juleka really didn't know marinette that well. They knew that she was a sweet and caring person, always wiling to help out others, and her very obvious crush on adrien. However, when they were invited over to her place to help her with something along with the other girls, they were seeing a completely different side of her. Marinette and alya had wanted them to help her with planning out a date, which sounded innocent until they realized that adrien clearly had no idea about this date and she somehow got his schedule down to the minute so she knew where he was.

They knew marinette liked adrien, it was obvious, but they were unaware just how deep it went to the point of obsession. After they were dragged into a plan that thankfully failed, they decided to distance themselves from marinette and alya. They didn't make it obvious or a big deal so no one would notice and ask questions, the only time they somewhat hung out with them was in a group setting, like when they invited the class over to juleka's place. Juleka initially had a bad feeling but she didn't know why, rose had calmed her down reassuring her that everything would be fine. That was until a couple months later when they reluctantly went to another meeting with the girls. Everything started out the same with marinette going on about adrien and not making progress except this time she talked about moving on since he was dating kagami. Juleka and rose didn't care and weren't really listening until luka was mentioned and how marinette also liked him.

Rose and juleka didn't say anything but they were horrified at the idea of marinette using luka because she couldn't deal with her feelings towards adrien. When they got to the houseboat they warned luka of marinette and how she would never really be over adrien. They couldn't stop him if he really wanted to date her but they knew he would only end up getting hurt. They were proven right when they watched luka become a shell of himself. Every time she called him adrien, bailed on him, and just not be present in their relationship slowly chipped away at him. When they inevitably broke up Juleka was happy but seeing the state she left him in, it quickly turned to anger. Through out the months juleka, rose, and their friends were there to pick up the pieces and help luka. It took a while before he was able to recognize that he wasn't the one at fault and just like his sister and her girlfriend said marinette wasn't over adrien and would probably never be over him.

It hurt to know that he was more of a second option but it was better than blaming himself, in the long run knowing this made it easier for him to move on. When it was the twins birthday, juleka was taken aback when marinette had run up to her asking her to uninvite her brother to his own party. She didn't say anything and just nodded her head but silently questioned why she and anyone else from class thought they were invited. Through out the party rose and juleka's phones were going off with texts from the girls asking where the party was since they had moved the boat. They had already explained before hand to the guys that it wasn't personal but they didn't know each other well enough, which they accepted. Everyone was having fun until her parents started arguing and became akumatized. Ladybug and chat noir showed up but ladybug seemed off, even when she handed her a miraculous she asked weird questions like "are you having a party?" and "did you invite all your friends?". Juleka didn't know what to make of her questions and brushed them off.

The next day at school juleka and rose weren't surprised when they were confronted by the girls. They figured that this would happen sooner or later so they were honest stating that they didn't want to invite the girl who used juleka's brother and the girls who somewhat encouraged it. Marinette at least had the decency to look somewhat ashamed but quickly made excuses for herself claiming how hard she had it. Rose and juleka had enough and honestly it was a long time coming, they ended the crumbled remains of their friendship and went their separate ways. Rose, ever the optimist, was hopeful that one day they'll see what they did wrong and sometime in the future they can be friends again. Juleka wasn't as hopeful, at least not for marinette and alya. Marinette had planned out everything so specifically, down to how many children she and adrien would have and their names. Someone like that doesn't change unless they realize they have a problem and seek help. Alya was an enabler and enablers rarely saw anything wrong with their actions as well as the person they're enabling. For now though they were comfortable cutting off the girls and whatever drama they brought with them.

the amount of times I've read fanfiction where the reader/oc is marinette's twin/sibling and they end up being the shy reserved one as opposed to marinette who is described as brave, bold and is practically a social butterfly. It just doesn't make sense

Even taking out the fact that she doesn't talk to anyone outside of her class, before adrien and alya arrive she doesn't really have friends. She knows her classmates but has never interacted with them before like she does once canon starts. So, painting her as the popular social butterfly has always struck me as weird since she never talks to anyone else. I get wanting to have contrasting personalities but the reader/oc would be the one who is the popular social butterfly, since even after her gaining a bit more confidence because of alya, she's still not that character
