You know what, i feel bad for Misha, this is our god damn fault, we should have never made such a fuss over a joke and some mumbled words. we are the assholes in this situation we forced him to do this. Don't treat him as a liar or think he did this for fun, it was a legit accident, we are the ones who blow things out of proportion. I hope he's ok.

let's be clear: this isn't the fault of fans. misha is an adult capable of thinking through his own decisions. he has decades of experience dealing with fans. he has 10+ years of experience specifically dealing with fans from the spn fandom. he knows that the fans care a lot about queer rep and that every small comment he makes, especially about queer issues, can quickly travel through social media.

he had every good reason to believe that a comment like the one he made would blow up. and every fan who was happy to hear a comment like that and chose to celebrate did nothing wrong! there are fans that look up to him! who identify with him! who have him as their role model! even misha knows that.

misha does not need to be coddled and protected by us. his job description includes that he should be capable of contending with the consequences of what the public may say or think about him. that he should be able to know that, very similarly, what he may say can affect him too!

let's not blame queer fans for being happy to think someone might be like them! especially when it was misha who misspoke. especially when the statement he made was pretty clear about being bisexual when he was not. if someone says "i am all three of them" after listing three qualities, then it is not wrong to assume that all three qualities apply to that person. in fact, that's how language works.

so it's pretty clear that it was not the fans who made a mistake here. it was misha. so let misha own his own mistakes! he's done that by taking the step to apologize on twitter. he's doing the right thing. he'll be okay. the fans shouldn't feel like they've done something wrong when they haven't!
