Hidden Feelings -  Zhang Yixing

Synopsis: In which readers roommate has a boy staying over so she goes to her best friend Yixing to sleep the night at his apartment, and they end up revealing their hidden feelings for each other

I groaned as my best friend and roommate Anna told me about her boyfriend staying the night, I mean I’m happy she’s getting it and all, but not why I’m here. I told her I would stay at a friends rather then wearing ear buds to try and block out their sounds. The first person that came to mind was Yixing, my best friend of 5 years.

Me: Can I stay over? Anna has her bf staying round tonight

Yixing: Of course I’ll be home at 4 come whenever

Me: Thanks so much <3

3:45 pm

I put my pajamas and emergency make up bag into my backpack along with snacks for whatever terrible movies we’ll be watching later before leaving the house and making my way to Yixings apartment. I t was only 15 minutes away thankfully, so I didn’t have to look like an idiot with a huge backpack glued to me.

I knocked on the door to be welcomed by a smiling Yixing, “welcome this is where you will be staying tonight” he spoke, imitating those fake, cheesy hotel owners. “Wow thank you, I never would have guessed!” I laughed sarcastically. “So Anna is kicking you out for some sexy times wow” Yixing commented. “Actually worse, she was going to do it while I was there so I took matters into my own hands”, causing a nod from Yixing.

By 8pm we were sprawled across the sofa, facing each other in fits of giggles surrounded by popcorn and bag of crisps, I had also just had a good cry at ‘love, rosie’ which Yixing made fun of me for but by the end I saw a little tear slip down his cheek causing me to tease him for the rest of the night.

“You know it’s crazy, how they were best friends and had feelings for each other but never told each other and just by not telling each other they ruined practically their whole life by marrying the wrong people” he spoke softly, staring softly at me. Butterflies rose in my stomach, why did he have to say such a thing looking at me with those precious and meaningful eyes.

I had always had feelings for Yixing, but never once did I tell anybody. We were best friends, we have never spoke about feelings for each other, he calls me his best friend, so I call him mine, and it will continue that way until one of us finds somebody we love. I think he will find love first, and I’ll be forced into even more heartbreak and pain, watching him be happy with someone, even though I want all the happiness in the world for him I can’t help but be selfish. The moments we share bring me so much happiness and I feel on top of the world for just a minute and I wish I could be with him, to see his gorgeous smile when I wake up, to have him hold me, kiss me, just love me. “Y/N?” he questioned? Obviously confused to why I had zoned out and was starting to well up with tears. “Yeah?” I replied, trying to hold back the tears. “What’s wrong?”, I just shook my head in response, tears now falling down my flushed cheeks.

He moved closer to me so we were sitting side by side, he softly moved my head with his hand to face him, before looking deeply into my eyes with his own soft hazel ones. “Tell me” he said softly”

“I-I love you” I managed to choke out, instantly regretting my decision to tell him. He leaned close, and his lips met my own, I was in shock at first, but kissed back and once it had ended I felt like the room was spinning, that it was a dream, I wasn’t really here. “I love you too, y/n” he whispered.
