rewatching World Trigger. I forgot how gay it was. Osamu straight up says "hey Yuma. I know that we've only known you for like five days, but I can't help but notice that you aren't doing anything with your life right now. Mind if I borrow it for a bit?"

And then Yuma responds with "while its true that we've only know each other for like five days, your kind yet stubborn nature has compelled me. Sure. Why not? From this moment on my life is yours to do whatever you want with. One condition, though. You have to be my boss" and then throughout the story he occasionally makes these little remarks like "I'd do anything my captain (osamu) asked me to."

Like bro what? I really don't think that Osamu fully realizes the weight of the loyalty he somehow managed to earn from Yuma. I don't think he could realize it. From his perspective he cringefailed his way into b rank while Yuma did all the work. "And now Yuma would kill or die for me" is just not a conclusion that would ever occur to Osamu based on the avaliable evidence.

And like, what's going on here from Yuma's perspective? I get that he was a man on the brink when the story started, pursuing a sincerely suicidal plan, and then said plan failed and he was left with absolutely nothing, but I still feel like there has to be more going on here. He decided that he would follow Osamu through hell and back the very same minute that Osamu asked anything of him at all.

It's like, combat is all Yuma has ever known. He doesn't see any future for himself at all, but he especially can't imagine a peaceful one. But he's not a bad kid. He doesn't go out of his way to hurt people. Osamu has proven to be a pretty decent person, willing to sacrifice himself to save the lives of relative strangers. Maybe, the way Yuma sees it, yeah he's a weapon, but if he follows Osamu at least he'll be a weapon pointed in the right direction. He'll fight because it's all he knows how to do, but osamu would only ever ask him to fight for worthy causes. Y'know?

Anyway. The point is that Yuma accepted helping Osamu as his new purpose in life after knowing him for less than a week, and that's A Lot, no matter how you look at it.

Can people who hate Rick stop acting like I care about their opinions! Like I don't really give a fuck about what you think about certain fictional characters but I really do not care if you hate characters I love so stop acting like I need to tell you why I like Rick, yes ik he's a horrible person but at least he's changing and the story doesn't frame him as a good person. (Those aren't the only reasons why I like him but I don't wanna get into all the reasons in this post)

the maka ramble i mentioned because im still autistic

ok so im rewatching as i speak and like skipping through to find the evidence for my claims so claims will be in order of when they come to me

lesbian maka is canon because near the end of the first episode she's literally screaming about how she hates men and wishes they all would just die. i can literally never see maka in a relationship with a man other than MAYBE soul (DISCLAIMER i DO NOT ship soma i will die on the hill of qpp soul and maka) but thats only because she literally says as she's screaming about killing men that soul was the only man she ever decided to trust (this is a whole other segment that i may or may not discuss in this rant)

can we talk about the skill maka demonstrates when she's fighting with soul. she's what. 14? and she fights with aura of years of experience. like soul's pretty much just along for the ride it's maka who's doing all of the actual fighting 90% of the time (10% when soul's being a self sacrificing dipshit and jumps in front of a hit meant for her)

can we talk about how in uhhh episode 4 when they're fighting sid and sid like attacks maka with his gravestone and she says "people need fear to survive, we experience it so we can grow stronger" LORD DEATH IS SO RIGHT WITH THE COMMENT "if she wasn't afraid in this situation id call that reckless, but maka has the courage to fight in spite of her fear"

i saw a tumblr post about it but unrelated why does dtk say "my father's school is exactly like i expected" as if he hasn't been there before

also unrelated but BLAIR IS MY BIGGEST OPP SHE'S LITERALLY A PEDO I HATE HERRRRR

anyways can we also talk about how maka and soul did soul resonance without any warmup or discussion before hand it was just "hey lets do it" "ok" i mean yeah they missed the hit but they still did the skill

jumping wayy forward to the crona vs maka underground fight in ep20 can we talk about even just maka's intuition alone. like she had the vaguest hint of whatever she detected in crona's soul and decided to go full blast with it. adding onto that can we talk about her compassion and empathy? like it takes a truly good person to do what she did for crona and she did it without the expectation of anything in return she simply wanted to help them. she has such a strong and admirable moral compass i think i said this before but she's literally one of my biggest inspirations ever

i'd talk about the last episodes where maka goes inside soul's. soul. and saves him from the black blood but i dont feel like rewatching that entire episode right now and i've only seen that specific episode like twice so i cant do it from memory

but on the topic of soul and maka can we talk about their incredibly intricate bond. their trust in eachother is out of this fucking world liek if you asked either one of them "if x asked you to jump off of a bridge with them would you do it" they'd say yes without hesitation or second thought. they care so much for one another and i love how the writers of soul eater portrayed it without it being inherently romantic. i love male female duos who ARENT in love. have i mentioned how i'd die on the hill of qpp soma. THEY'RE QPPS YOUR HONOR. i had something very specific to say about this and then forgot. it'll probably come back to me later. its later as i type this specific sentence and it still hasn't come back to me so i'll probably end this post here. stay tuned for more i think i have more in me

really positive blackstar rant because im having an autism moment and i love soul eater

ok so first of all i hate people who dont like him. get the fuck OUT OF HERE!!!! he is literally who i aspire to be yea he's a little stupid but he's confident in himself and his ability and he's determined to do what he sets his mind to. his character is so interesting because he's portrayed as this big loud dumbass but he's literally the only kid his age im pretty sure to use his soul wavelength to attack like he does. he's like 13-14 btw. ALSO HE CARES SO MUCH ABOUT HIS FRIENDS???? he literally would kill for any single one of them without hesitation. you saw how he went after arachnophobia when giriko and arachne hurt maka. she wasn't even seriously injured she was just immobilized. i also want to take a moment to mention how after the training thing where he and maka get into a fight and then they pass their exam thing, maka asks blackstar to hit her. blackstar has shown that he cares deeply for his friends and doesn't want them hurt. he also understand his own strength and what he could do to maka if he tried, and yet still doesn't hold back on his punch. he didn't use his soul wavelength but he sure didn't pull his punch. he understands that maka needs this, she needs for him to hurt her the way she hurt him. for things to be even, in a sense. this is because maka also cares deeply for her friends but that's part of an entire rant about maka that may or may not come immediately after this i haven't decided yet. AND BLACKSTAR IS SO INCREDIBLY CAPABLE OF GREAT THINGS! going back to s1 when we see him and tsubaki going to the village to fight masamune, (just realized this is going to tie into blackstar caring about his friends) he demonstrates a certain maturity about the situation, he understands why the villagers hate him and doesn't do any serious harm to them, he shows a lot of restraint. lord death himself canonically says he didn't think it was possible for blackstar to act this way. more on that scene- and this is the part that's gonna tie into blackstar caring about his friends- he tells tsubaki he doesn't need to know about her situation. he's just going to do his best to help. and he does, when tsubaki goes into the mind of the enchanted sword, he sits there and waits. when one of the villagers notices tsubaki and goes to hit her, that is the only time blackstar actually shows malice towards the villagers. he makes it clear they can beat on him all they want, but tsubaki is not to be disturbed. when tsubaki vanishes into the sword, he essentially panics. you can hear it in his voice and you can see it in his actions. he desperately shouts for an encore because he cannot bear to see her leave. anyways thats my wall of text about the one and only blackstar i hope you enjoy and also any thoughts or additions are appreciated i love talking about this stuff
