finished a missing year. my opinion on it is basically the same as my opinion on pied piper, just replace "ziggy" with "shion" and "flip phone game" with "series of flash videos".
just finished “playing” pied piper(watched a translated playthrough since the english patch isn’t out yet). pretty neat, liked the depth it gave to ziggy’s character and the context it gave to the testaments(plus clearing up the factions fighting each other going into episode iii, since i found some of the relationships between factions a bit hard to follow in the main series). i can’t help but wish this was stuff that was in the main series though.
or at least told through a different medium than a flip phone game, the shop for which is now completely defunct

it’d be nice if xenosaga 2 was good, but it’s so much more interesting that it sucks
#here’s an incredibly emotional and impactful story#none of the characters can make any facial expressions and most of the voice acting is completely flat#oh and they took the combat from the first game and shuffled it around and stapled more mechanics onto it#also every battle is at least 10 minutes long now#and sometimes the penultimate boss decides you lose and spams boosts#and if you’re unlucky the easy basically-a-cutscene final boss with less than 6000 hp can take longer than every other fight in the game#xenosaga#xenosaga episode ii
