Rising From A Night’s Sleep: Observations of the Everyday in Japanese Graphic Design is an exhibition of poster art and illustration by emerging Japanese graphic designers, curated by Ryan Hageman, founder of Gurafiku, a website archiving the history of graphic design in Japan.

Using design as a way to reflect on the experiences and situations happening in their everyday lives, the designers featured in this exhibition capture the little moments in life: daydreams, fond farewells, mundane routine; feelings of uncertainty, curiosity, and boredom; times of transition, struggle, and joy. These day-to-day makings give insight into the life, personality, and experiences of each individual designer and tells the story of everyday life in Japan.

04.03    친구의 생일. 톡을 보냈는데 새벽이라 아직 못 본 것 같다. 시차 때문에 미래로 톡을 보내는 느낌이 든다. 날은 흐리고, 자주 가는 괜찮은 커피집에서 처음보는 바리스타가 타 준 커피가 맛이 없어서 맥이 풀렸다.

문득 졸업한지 2년이 다 되어가는구나 하는 생각에 조바심이 거미줄처럼 엉겨붙는다.

04.02   금요일같은 오늘 하루. 번역을 시작해볼까. 꾸준히 매달려서 (작업 이외의) 할 수 있는 취미가 필요하다는 말이 와 닿는 하루. 출근길에 급히? 본 문학지에 실린 소설이 좀 쓰게 느껴졌다. 그것은 창작의 열매가 다 소진된 듯한 유명 중견소설가의 다소 자조적이고 안쓰러운 이야기였는데 다 읽고 나니 좀 우울해지고 불쾌해졌다. 마치 유머를 잃고 딱딱하고 무거워진 홍상수…

네덜란드에서 함께 유학(을 빙자한 룰루랄라 한량생활)했던 예정이가 뉴욕에 옵니다. 이로써 서현과 예정 나까지 모두 미국동부에서 뭉치게 되네요. 삼년 만입니다. 아직 실감이 나지 않지만 호텔방에서 모여 바카디와 팩와인 그리고 스트롭와플을 안주삼아 마시다보면 실감이 날지도 ��르겠군요. 셋 다 역마살이 꽤나 있는 팔자인가봅니다.
