i think we can all agree lando has been conditioned by mclaren to always put the team first. he’s been with them since he was a teenager and has been shaped by the team’s structure, media strategy, and internal culture. so if he’s told to take a hit “for the good of the team,” he’ll do it, even if it costs him personally.

oscar didn’t grow up at mclaren. he hasn’t had to sacrifice a thing to get where he is in that team. he’s never been expected to put the team first, and frankly, he never does. he’s not a team player and he’s shown that more than once.

instead, he came into mclaren as a hot prospect with leverage. he wasn’t molded by the team, he came in fully formed, on his own terms, and with his own priorities. it feels like from the start, the expectation wasn’t for him to slot in and serve the bigger picture, but to be positioned as the future. he’s been able to negotiate that space for himself and mclaren has let him.

And I’m supposed to believe PRstri Racing Co doesn’t have the media on payroll when they’re out here using fanfic phrasing like “Piastri would have won.” Sorry, did I hallucinate the part where Max and Lando were behind him, both ready to rush him once the safety car left? Without the penalty, he still would've had to fight for it. He wasn’t cruising solo in P1. And even with the penalty, he was told on lap 21, why didn’t he insist they serve it immediately so he could chase Lando down if he’s such a racing god? “Gifted the lead to Norris” is such a brain-dead way to say Oscar fucked around and found out. No wonder the 81s are out here crying about Lando’s “gifted win.”
