The fruits of tonight’s labours with @kvaspencer and Jon. Kate’s is an owl. Jon’s is an homage to Rusty and the Boulder, a Thomas the Tank Engine episode that he could do a thesis on. Mine is Hercule Poirot, because my little grey cells decided that would be a fitting tribute to someone who is far away. https://www.instagram.com/p/CkUr3iDrqzh/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The final episode of That’s a Thing?! awaits you in your podcatcher of choice (or in the link in bio). In it, I review the lessons I’ve learned from @elizadeathyeg over the previous 50 episodes. Chief among them is that it’s unfathomably rewarding to make something with one’s kids. . Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us along the way. I so deeply appreciate your time and kind words. . Salute to our fellow podcasters in @albertapodnet — it’s been a pleasure to be among you! . Credit to Jon for this 3D-printed monument to our cover art. . #yegpodcast #yegpodcasts #familypodcast #medialiteracy https://www.instagram.com/p/CajTDHlLt3K/?utm_medium=tumblr

The penultimate episode of That’s a Thing?! (yes, friends, the end is nigh) is a deep and nuanced look at the value of uncomfortable art. Parents, your vocabulary is probably going to expand with this one — the arguments your kids may be having online are way more complex than you think. . That’s a Thing?! says goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022 with some righteous anger about the exploitation of kids’ creativity on the internet. Sounds heavy, but you know us — @elizadeathyeg can’t help but be funny, and I can’t help but laugh. A lot. . Episode 44 of That’s a Thing?! is *not* brought to you by Creep-B-Gone, because that is not actually a thing. But it could be! . Listen to @elizadeathyeg poke holes in safety capitalism, which tends to bombard certain demographics on TikTok and Reels. Yahoo Answers is no longer a thing. But it was a thing, as @elizadeathyeg and Jon explain, and not just as the basis of many jokes from @mybrothermybrotherandme. . Come for the hijinks, stay for the Borges, in Episode 40 of That’s a Thing?!, available where pods are cast or in the good old link in bio. . #yegpodcasts #yahooanswers #familypodcast https://www.instagram.com/p/COeksNgATXP/?igshid=ipx667yb2xaf

Episode 39 of That’s a Thing?! takes another run at gaming, inspired in part by our recent VR experience and @elizadeathyeg’s foray into phone games. Also, Jon speaks! (And he took this picture.) . The show notes are full of games you may or may not want to check out, so head to thatsathing.transistor.fm/39 for those. Episode 37 of That’s a Thing?! awaits you. This time, @elizadeathyeg explains drivers license (the song, not the document), the unpoggers fate of PogChamp, and the fall of a Minecraft speedrunner who doped his e-sport (these are things, I’ve learned). . Look closely and you’ll see a couple of podcasters, reflecting as they are reflected on the last day of 2020. We come across a lot more clearly on Episode 36 of That’s a Thing?!, in which Elizabeth examines the TikTokification of pop music. It ends on a happy note! . Today I got to see #yeg like I’ve never seen it before, thanks to a #baskonthesask preview courtesy of @rivervalleyalliance and @epcor. I brought my son, who has never experienced the city like this before either (though there’s a chance he’ll get to go on a RiverWatch trip with school in a raft like we were in.) You can do this too — and take better pictures — at RiverFest on Aug. 11. I highly recommend! (at North Saskatchewan River Edmonton)
