Lush’s American Cream Perfume
A vanilla perfume with the caramelly warmth of cozy benzoin and herbal clary sage. American Cream is inspired by the creamy milkshakes popular in American diners in the 1950s, with all the vanilla-strawberry sweetness that their devotees loved. On first blush, you'll detect notes of warm vanilla mixed with the sweetness of fresh berries. Then comes the refreshing herbal aroma of sage and lavender. Bottoms up!
Wow. This was highly anticipated. I smelled it in the Lush store (on a testing strip) and was eager to have it in my collection. Thankfully, I only spent $25 on it. On my wrist, American Cream smelled so cloying and gross. It hurt my nostrils. I think the mixture of herbal sage with the benzoin vanilla is what did it for me. The sharpness sweetness of the perfume honestly gave me a headache. Hopefully I can sell this fragrance and remove it from my sight. Was this a blind buy? In some ways, it was. I had only smelled it on paper, not on skin. Have I smelled it enough to make a final decision? No, but I already own enough perfumes that don’t make me feel sick. I don’t feel particularly compelled to smell American Cream again.
