wanted to make another post about Smurfs (2025) ever since the second main trailer and Rihanna’s song dropped (a song that has grown on me) but i honestly don’t know what to say? the soundtrack and more clips are out and the music isn’t bad and it’s nice to see a few more smurfs i guess even if they’re just ones like “Calendar Smurf”, “Sound-Effects Smurf”, so-on. But I really hope the “What is a Smurf?” theming pulls through all the, honestly cringe and I hate using cringe seriously, other scenes to deliver a good story. I still have some hope, you can do it Smurfs movie.

moshi monsters what was that. what was THAT. £2.5 MILLION? do not get me wrong the new art and animation is incredibly good and i am happy they are back but oh my god the insane whiplash, i watched people turn on them so FAST. tiktok is going to be BUZZING soon the concept art and idea for the new game is cute, it'll never truly be what the original was (+plus there's some fan recreations iirc i dipped my toes in once i might go back) but i would/will give it a try if it happens. i dunno how they're gonna pull this one back i think everyones trust got shattered oops

Poppet was my monster choice btw I loved Poppet I forget what I named mine though maybe Pop/Poppy? dunno. Wallop & Gabby are my fav moshlings tho

all my playtime in mario kart world is going into obsessing over the Sunshine Railway and the entire railway network and the yards and stations and the TRAINS

all the sonic blitz stuff is super insane and the game does look fun but i think the most exciting part for me is that whoever does get into this game is getting a nice model and clean render i love having a definite set of renders to draw from for characters

i really want to know more about the lore and storyline that happened during the BREAKthrough, BREAKpoint, Fates Collide and Steam Siege sets. I was so happy when this all got brought up in a video by DeltaSeeker ('Pokemon Card LORE' amazing video)

the parallel worlds arc is super interesting with the fighting mega mewtwos and mega alakazam & zygarde just teaming up to merge the worlds together (chaos tower is a great card). steam siege is clearly inspired by the volcanion movie so it could be assumed similar events are playing out but still i want design documents and the full lore and everything.

also need more on the BREAK Evolutions it's said they originate from these worlds but give me more honestly. maybe it's like weird mega evolution?

the dual-type pokemon cards from steam siege specifically also need to make a return.... honestly i wish whenever volcanion was in a set it would retain it's dual typing or there'd be a few dual-types along with it, also love they were shiny that was neat

when i was younger and didnt understand how the actual ptcg worked i thought "prize cards" meant your opponent got to take your own cards home with them and i was so scared to play the actual game because i didnt want to loose any of my EX Cards (this was end of BW & XY/ORAS era)

i think it would be really funny if we got a Mega Meowscarada distribution in Z-A in conjunction with Horizons Arc 5 to parallel XY’s Mega Blaziken promotion. I want to see what the general consensus would be.

Since Mega Blaziken was a teaser for ORAS maybe Mega Meowscarada could be one for a new Mystery Dungeon (the last 2 entries have had Megas in them anyways, no better time to make a new one while they’re coming back big time) or a new TCG Set or smth

so… that smurfs movie trailer huh….

Smurfs Ramble Time !!

I watched that trailer and came out of it sadly messaging my boyfriend that the Smurfs were in Paris (again). so disappointing to see “we’re going to the real world!” is part of the plot again but im hoping (and it does somewhat look like) its not the full focus.

Also disappointing is the Smurfs cast themselves seems so little in terms of ‘unique’ (like, has a name/accessory/outfit etc.) Smurfs (excluding the new ones). I think Papa, Smurfette, Hefty, Brainy, Vanity, Grouchy and Scaredy make up the main cast. Clumsy, Handy, Lazy, Fisherman(?), Poet, Baker/Greedy were the only other unique ones I could personally spot. If the movie is going to address the question of “What is a Smurf?” then like.. where are the rest of them.. a question of that scale and yet Smurf Village is populated with copy/pastes. To be fair, only the first footage and more are likely to appear but still concerning when lots of group shots are seen and could have been filled with any Smurfs from across the franchise— old or new. I do also get one of their things is “they all look the same” but I feel like you can still fill the scenes with a mix of the unique and ‘generic’ Smurfs. No reason those dance scenes couldn’t have been exactly that. Hope this doesn’t sound insane, tl;dr actually include more of the recognisable Smurfs.

Moxie is interesting because she has the blue stylised hair the Smurf Girls do. Was curious if the Smurf Girls were going to show up at all so wonder if they’ll make a cameo or if Moxie is it. No thoughts on Papa Smurf’s brother, Ken, yet will need to see and understand more (he has to a reference to or been pulled from the comics smurf cousins theres no way). Very unfortunate James Corden is playing No-Name Smurf.

I was really hoping this was going to follow in the footsteps of Lost Village and to an extent the 2021 TV Series. I don’t think either of those are perfect but they were a huge step in the right direction for course-correcting the Smurfs after the 2 Live Action movies. Honestly, give the Smurfs some consistency— It’s a little tiring that every new project that comes out ends up in it’s own bubble(s) and barelyyy anything carries over (the live action movies can remain isolated lol). Best way to deal with that would probably be a definitive reboot that combines as much as possible from the Comics/Older TV Show, Lost Village, 2021 Show, if it ends up fine this movie, plus any other media— into one big canon that can be worked with for TV/Movie and that remains the main one for a decent amount of time. Huge hypothetical here I don’t know if that’s at all possible but hey.

The art style and animation for this are fine I don’t have any issues with that, Rihanna as Smurfette though is not entirely there for me yet but also not the worst.

Praying it has some stuff up it’s sleeve and that it does end up being a pleasant surprise, maybe this was just a really bad trailer. there’s a Castle involved at some point so if there’s a Johan and Peewit appearance I can cheer and clap. down with influencer smurf

another day another tear shed for the fact koraidon and miraidon aren’t in horizons. yet at least maybe they’ll show up. also anipoke rambles time

im a huge fan of when the anime adapts the games stories/arcs/legendary-encounters with their own spin on things. Like I love the team flare arc despite xerneas and yveltal snoozing through it because lysandre is still pretty much enacting a similar scheme from the games just with the animes huge spins such as zygarde, red zygarde and the megalith-zygarde-thing etc. (all of which is awesome, not the only reasons I like the arc either).

Even though it was pretty rushed I can’t bring myself to fully dislike the SwSh Story adaption (in my heart I love it) because its just so cool to see moments from the games brought to life. But they did the isle of armour and crown tundra (their game content specifically) so dirty. honestly would’ve loved to see Chloe tackle the Calyrex storyline while Ash/Goh helped Sonia track down the Swords of Justice (Ash reunites with them and Keldeo as a sweet movie reference, hurray!). Also it’s been a while since ive watched Journeys but iirc they heavily imply or state Chloe’s Yamper was a gift from some friend in Galar to Professor Cerise, always hoped the friend was Professor Magnolia and since Sonia is notably missing her Yamper I really wanted some sort of episode or scene about this. I have a lot of thoughts about Journeys, XY etc. maybe one day i’ll write down everything I’d change around and rewrite.

Back to Horizons, they’ve alluded to it taking place post-SVs main story through Geeta + Penny working for the Pokemon League so unless they do flashbacks I doubt we’ll see those events play out. It definitely allows for Horizons unique story to stand out more and that’s good, I am enjoying it and all, but that part of me that loves seeing major game events/plotlines adapted cries a little. Excited for Area Zero this week though and the Past Paradoxes.
