Yesterday, I finished "Nothing to Envy: Love, Life and Death in North Korea" by Barbara Demick which looks at the situation in North Korea and how the Kim dynasty in North Korea controls the people of North Korea. Last night, I have begun to read "The End of History and the Last Man" by Francis Fukuyama, an updated version of the original version that was originally released at around the time of the end of the Cold War, which was dubbed "the end of history" and the triumph of liberal democracy.
The events of recent times (such as the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine, or the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, and the very recent conflict between India and Pakistan, which broke out in the past couple of days) makes "The End of History and the Last Man" by Francis Fukuyama more relevant than ever, in addition to the rise of populism (and in particular Trumpism in the United States of America and the rise of Reform UK in the United Kingdom).

It is well-known that dim sims are an important part of Australian cuisine, especially when it comes to the local fish and chips shop (as pictured). The dim sim (name derived from the pronounciation diim syiim 點心 in Toisanese, the dominant dialect that was spoken in the 1940s by Central Melbourne's Chinese community) was popularised in the 1940s by William Chen Wing Young, a Chinese immigrant in Melbourne who originally came from Guangdong and the father of Australian celebrity chef, author and television personality Elizabeth Chong. The term dim sim itself dates back as far as 1928, although the modern recipe of the dish most likely was developed in Melbourne's Chinatown in 1945 by William Chen Wing Young for his food processing company Wing Lee. The larger, globular version of the dim sim is commonly known as a "South Melbourne dim sim" due to it originating at the South Melbourne Market. William Chen Wing Yong's "original recipe" for the dim sim was presented by Elizabeth Chong on Episode 2 of ABC TV's "Myf Warhurst's Nice" which aired on 20 June 2012 and consisted of pork, prawns, water chestnuts (which is not a nut but a aquatic vegetable), spring onions, and soy sauce wrapped in a soft skin-like wrapper.
