testing the mic
Hi peaceful people! (Just testing the mic). Welcome to our new followers and thanks to everyone already tuned in.
Had some crazy thoughts this morning, about brewing and peaceful protest, and effective positive change in our communities (like a sit-in, but brewing style--a brew-in maybe?).
The big question on my mind is this: How can we constructively and creatively respond to the unrest in our communities with positive action?
This is the big question that prompted this party. But a party ain't a party without party people, am I right?
So, tell me about you. Who are you? What's on your mind? What crazy ideas do you have about brewing up some positive change?

At this point in my life, given my hobbies and my heritage, I shouldn't be surprised that a few barstools, beer taps, and feet of lacquered wood can stir my emotions to boil. But as I sipped on a p...
Hi there to all the people who have liked and interacted with this page in the last 48 hours. Welcome, and thank you for showing interest and support for the idea of Brew4Peace.
Today, I'm sharing a link with you from my friend Oliver Gray who has written a piece about loss upon the one year anniversary of his father's death.
I think often that when we say "I need a beer"--and boy have I felt like saying that a lot lately--that what we need (aside from good beer, of course) is really good company, and good listeners. To be witnessed and heard.
I've been following Literature and Libation for some time after meeting him at a Beer Symposium in Kentucky earlier this year, and it is exactly this kind of heart-felt bar-side personal unveiling that Oliver shares in this piece that I think we all sometimes need to hear, if only virtually, to know we are not alone in feeling this sense of inescapable loss, despite the insistent turning of the calendar that seems to suggest otherwise.
Take care of each other. Listen hard. Drink together.  Cheers, @Brew4Peace

Letter #1
It seems like there ought to be a place where we can sit down and just be human. For me at least, the beer community has been that place. It’s been beside brew kettles and atop bar stools that I’ve gotten to know my community, to feel a part of this place, to feel “home” (although none of us really seem to be able to go back there).
Is it naive of me to believe that beer can bring peace to the world? Maybe. But if it isn’t doing something good in the universe, then maybe it isn’t doing enough.
It has been harder to go on talking about beer without talking about the rest of the world. And although there is so much I love about the community of beer of which I am a part, I think there are ways we can better put our passionate devotion to beer to use.
Will you join me in peaceful protest of the craziness, violence and inhumane actions that are happening all around the world? Can we brew a beer together? Or sip it all just a little slower and enjoy what we’ve created in a shared space? Can we minimize the loneliness and isolation that allows people to drown their sorrows alone as though we didn’t all go to bed with a little sorrow at night? Can we put on a virtual show of hands for all those in favor of a more peaceful planet? Is this shit getting too hippy-dippy for you yet?
I’m not wanting this to be a religious space, though having one doesn’t prohibit you being here. No preaching. Just choir. Am I using the right words here? I hope so.
Let’s get creative, and see if we can make a beer without murdering anybody. I think that’s possible.
  Cheers,
@Brew4Peace
