id like to write paul/yoko hate sex for this beatles rarepair event but it's been so long since I've written straight sex I fear it would turn out horribly

every single celebrity couple since john lennon and yoko ono has been trying to reach the sheer level of cunt that john lennon and yoko ono jointly served and no one ever has and no one ever will. like it can't be done again and they just need to accept that and stop trying.

Do you think the line "I'm in love with a friend of mine" is about John or Linda?

I think it makes more sense that he's talking about John here, as the song is about John. Why would he say "I'm in love with Linda" on a song about reconciling with John? To make him even more angry? And it still sounds odd to me that he would refer to Linda as a "friend of mine". I mean, its possible, but still kind of odd. Also, if this was about Linda, then Paul would have easily explained that line at least once on the occasions he has discussed "Dear Friend", not avoid explaining it like he always has. In his book the Lyrics, he goes over many lines of that song, but not this one. Why? Also look at Paul explaining this song in this 1988 interview:

"Dear Friend was written for John – to John.  It was like a letter.  With the business pressures of the Beatles breaking up, it’s like a marriage.  One minute you’re in love, next minute, you hate each other’s guts. [...] It’s a pity because it’s very difficult to cut through all that, and what can you do?  You can’t write a letter saying “Dear pal of mine, I love you…” it’s all a bit too much.  So you do what we all seemed to do, which was write it in songs.  I wrote “Dear Friend” as kind of peace gesture."

So to me that line is Paul saying to John "I'm still in love with you". But that's just my opinion.
