It feels a little funny to me how little weird I see it that the Cullens' cover story basically says that the "kids" are foster siblings/legal cousins and they're dating each other. I mean, I GET why it feels weird, I get why people focus on that, but it was never too high up on my list. And I realize that's perhaps of my own tastes? Like yeah I do have siblings of my own so I can definitely feel the "ugh, but they're siblings" kind of thing, but then I also remember playing the Sims when I was little (before reading Twilight) and I had a single mom with a teenage son marry a single dad with a teenage daughter, and then I also had the teenagers date each other (my justification was that they didn't have the experience of growing up together as siblings, they just met through their parents and they also weren't blood related so maybe feelings could happen?) But then I'm also aroace so probably I have a different view on that XD

Exposing my love for freaky whump here, but I'm one of the very few people who not only wasn't upset by the violent scene of resume's birth, I actually liked it from a whump standpoint. It seriously scratches such an itch in me that I can rarely find outlets for - especially in media that doesn't abuse its female characters for the satisfaction of its male audience (not that Twilight loves women; but at least they're not brutalized like, you know, Game of Thrones or whatever) - and I can't emphasize enough how that's because smeyer seems to like whump. A lot.
Like, I once saw someone who had read all the twilight books look surprised that smeyer did such a detailed violent scene for Beau getting attacked by Joss in Life and Death and I'm like, my guy, you read Twilight, you read Breaking Dawn, you saw the film and all its bloody birth glory... and you're surprised smeyer did that with a male character? Hmm.
So, yeah. Stuff like GoT or The Handmaid's Tale tv show don't scratch that itch because if nothing else they make me feel like they make the brutality a spectacle for a specific audience, and I don't intend to scratch my itch on something like that. But the birth scene, especially in the way it's done in the film... it's the shit.
I know a lot of people won't like it, and I fully understand that, they don't have to like it or even defend its existence in the film. The film could work perfectly without the graphicness. If nothing else, the whole pro-forced birth sentiment that covers the entire thing is the main reason I don't like that part from Bella's pov. So I fully get it.
My point with this post is to say that smeyer did one part of it well and you cannot convince me that someone who isn't into whump would write something like this. Spoken as someone who likes this shit... it takes one to know one.

Has anyone made an analysis on why Billy Black uses a wheelchair? Like on one hand yay for disability inclusion I guess (not that I trust smeyer with it) but why was it this particular character that smeyer wrote like that? Just to make Jacob the "mature teenager" who looks after his father?

AU where Bella’s gift is not so much a shield as it is an Uno reverse card
Edward can read everyone’s mind but Bella’s as in canon, but now she can read Edward’s mind
Alice’s visions are blank where she’s concerned (like the werewolves in canon), but Bella can see visions of the future involving Alice, or has visions when she’s around Alice. Jasper’s gift is already kinda 2-way so he can still sense/manipulate her emotions, but she can do it back to him. She can hurt Jane, zap Kate, etc etc
Bella would have the weirdest fucking first day of school anyone has ever had, ever. There’s a voice in her head saying “yeah okay I guess she’s pretty but kind of plain and— wait why can’t I hear her” and then Biology is just. The worst hour of her life. but being Bella she’s just sitting there like

How to turn a phrase from an insult to a compliment by just adding a word:
"This sounds like it came straight out of Twilight" = insult
"This sounds like it came straight out of Twilight's soundtrack" = compliment

Today seems like a GREAT day to read up on Quileute history and all the misconceptions Twilight spread, and if you can, donate to the Move to the Higher Ground project!
If you are interested in local history, you can also text your US zip code to 907-312-5085 and they’ll let you know whose indigenous land you are on.
((I am far from being the first person to share this info, and I hope I am not the last. Not only do we have new blogs that could benefit from these links, but as active fans it is our duty to exert the same energy into educating ourselves about social injustices around us, especially considering what our ~fave~ series did to the Quileute tribe.))

Saw that post about Rosalie's want to have children and as I don't want to hijack it (nor am I sure if I should link it to here) but it gave me inspiration for a storyline, a little messed up, but something? idk
So, Rosalie mourns the fact that, as a vampire, she's frozen and she can't have children, to watch them grow while she and Emmett grow into an old happy couple, right?
That said, there are ways to go around it, if smeyer was a little braver and smarter. And that other post gave me an idea for a slightly dark way Rosalie could satisfy her want for a child.
Naturally, the easiest way would be for her to adopt a baby. She has the money and resources to make hundreds of children happy and give them a great, bright future. But as that post mentions, that wouldn't give her the experience of pregnancy, of childbirth, of breast-feeding, whatever she might find appealing about the whole thing.
So, what does she do? She finds a pregnant woman who is in a desolate situation. Maybe the woman is poor, homeless, anything that would make her desperate enough to accept Rosalie's sudden and very sus offer. Rosalie goes to her and offers her a safe environment with all her needs covered, a house, food, medical expenses paid, and then also offers whatever luxury the woman might want, a chauffeur at her disposal 24/7, opportunities for entertainment, maybe even a pool or a hot tub or you know. That stuff. And the woman, desperate as she was before, of course agrees.
And here is where it gets dark, as Rosalie makes it a requirement that she's seen as an extra "mother" to the child. She gets to touch the woman's belly, she gets to keep sonogram pictures, she gets to furnish the baby room, she gets to have a baby shower, all that. Maybe she even gets to pick the baby's name. And once the baby is born, she gets to be there for the delivery (assuming she can handle all the scents), she gets to sit next to the mother while she breastfeeds, she gets to buy baby clothes and toys, she gets to take the baby to the doctor for vaccines and stuff, and of course she gets to hold the baby and sing them to sleep. And it all culminates to the biological mother being seen only as a "vessel" through which the baby was born and kept fed.
Now whether you want to make it full-on creepy and have her kill the mother and claim the child as her own and only once the child is weaned is up to you, but in general the whole thing WOULD be creepy, especially because it's done to a pregnant woman who had no other alternatives and only accepted out of despair, but Rosalie does indeed take care of her and the baby's needs and future, and she can leave any time (or so she thinks, if you want to make it darker) so it's not really THAT bad, is it?
So yeah idk just some inspiration I had.

i read a fic a long time ago where bree survies and the cullen take her in,that's pretty common AFAIK. but in that particular fic,she become a daughter figure to emmet and rosalie is that also common?
I've definitely seen that before.
And I certainly understand the impulse: Rosalie longs for the ability to have children, and so they adopt Bree.
Personally, though, I don't think that's really what Rosalie wants. Bree is 15/16 years old. Rosalie, IMO, wants a baby. She wants the whole experience. She wants to find out she's pregnant and giddily tell Emmett so he picks her up and spins her around in joy. She wants to talk about baby names. She wants to furnish a nursery and buy baby clothes. She wants to be fussed over and pampered during pregnancy. She wants Emmett to kiss her growing belly. And then she wants to hold the baby and protect the baby and snuggle the baby and watch it grow and change and learn and develop.
Would reality live up to her dreams? Probably not. Pregnancy and parenthood are messy! But adopting a 16-year-old vampire is not going fulfill those impossible dreams. Doesn't mean she wouldn't do it, that it might not be fulfilling in other ways, but IMO it won't solve the longing, just as I don't think Renesmee will ultimately. Rosalie wants to be a mom, not an aunt (Nessie), and she wants a baby, not a teenager (Bree).
Feel similarly about Esme (and Carlisle, too). "Oh they're fulfilled because they have their children." Yeah but they got them when they were all 17-20. They didn't get to raise them or watch them grow. They get to see them hit some adulthood milestones (Rose and Em getting married, Ed and Bella getting married, Renesmee being born) but even those are few and far between because of the unchanging nature of vampires.
tl;dr: I've definitely seen it before, and think it can be a sweet story, but I don't think it will ultimately satisfy Rosalie in the long run. Esme is the kind of person who can make herself reasonably happy in almost any circumstance and 'makes do with substitutes' but I don't think that's Rosalie's vibe. As beautiful as a mother/daughter like relationship between her and Bree might be, it doesn't solve the baby problem, IMO.
