rewatching Lockwood & Co, and I must say I really really really appreciate what they did with the opening credits. There's a fair bit of Lore you need to understand for the events of the show to make sense (especially when you dive right into the thick of things like they do in Episode 1).

Imo, it's a little bit easier to get away with an infodump in written media than in tv. (Due to reading speed being faster than speaking speed, among other things.) And given that the characters themselves have been living in this world for their entire lives, and been working as agents for years, it's a bit easy to fall into an "As you know" situation.

So using the opening credits to give the audience a crash-course in the history of the world (or in this case, the Problem) is actually really fucking clever. (Also, I'm a sucker for in-universe newsreels and newspapers, and loved the newspaper snippets in the books.) It's short, visually-appealing, and gives you the necessary info very quickly. But yeah, I really think they knocked it out of the park with using the opening credits for a lore dump. It's a really, really cool idea, and it works better than I would have expected, tbh.

Urgent prayer request (severe pet illness)

My mom's cat Ella is dying. The vet isn't 100% sure why but he thinks it's a tick-borne disease, which is weird because all the cats get regular flea and tick prevention. But regardless, Ella is the last living thing my mom has from her mom, who passed away suddenly a couple years ago. Ella's illness came on very suddenly in the last week and she's been declining rapidly. My mom wanted to try to save her with the medications the vet prescribed, but Ella hasn't been able to keep any fluids down. I won't give all the details but it's really, really bad. Something needs to happen, and I want Ella to live, for my mom's sake, but it's looking very bleak. Please please pray for Ella and my mom.

Me connecting to nature while scratching the 20 bug bites I received while admiring a beautiful cypress swamp for 5 minutes:

wow, this nature is very nature.

When I say "connect with nature" I don't just mean the aesthetic forests with deer and beautiful flowers.

I mean the weeds growing through concrete, the fungus that grows on the rotten shed, the nettles that always seem to return and the scary, spindly cellar spider in the corner of the bathroom.

Nature is not always pretty or magical - the pigeons and seagulls you swat at are nature too, the wasps and flies that hover by your meals are animals too, store-bought strawberries and the leaves that fall from your neighbour's tree are not all that different from the Giant Sequoias and it's seeds.

If you want to connect and understand nature, I mean *really* connect to it, in it's entirety, you have to seek out and learn about the ugly, scary and mundane things as well. You don't have to like it, just don't forget that it's there.

Thinking about George seeing his friends in the ghosts he researches. Lucy in the agent who died because their supervisor messed up. Lockwood in the man who took his own life because he felt so alone. And George knows he won't be able to sense them as intensely as Lockwood and Lucy when fighting them but it's like he can sense them now as if their souls infest the pages he is reading.

So he stays at the archive until its closing because he needs to be able to protect his friends and he buys Lucy’s favourite biscuits and Lockwood’s favourite paper because it feels a little like he almost lost them that day.

One time all the agencies in London have to send agents to some big day conference and Fittes and Rotwell and the other big agencies send their agents in with cheap, mass produced pack lunches where they have a sandwich with barely any filling, a fruit shoot and a piece of fruit. While Lockwood and Co come in with lunches George has hand packed for each of them in labelled paper bags full of all their favourite things and everyone is so jealous.

I’m pretty satisfied with what I’ve got going with Lucy, but Lockwood’s face shape is still giving me trouble. And his hair but that’s a generalized problem for me. Let’s also ignore that I can’t draw shoes.

George is fine though. He’s pretty easy to get the essence of.

What she means: the writers and developers of Portal 2 didn't really have to show us the scene right at the end with Wheatley floating in space. But they did. They made to concious choice to show the player the character who betrayed them say he's sorry, despite the fact that in canon he's floating alone in space where the person he's saying sorry to will never hear him. They recognized that they set him up to be your friend and your lifeline and then they made him betray you. And they took the time and effort to let him apologize. It could've just ended with that last shot of Chell on the surface. But it didn't. The stupid lil moron who put you through hell said "im sorry" for it and he must've meant it, otherwise why show it?
