THIS THIS EXPLAINATION IS *chefs kiss* 😍✨let me stitch this; I used to think I was bisexual simply because I still fell in love with fictional men and found men aesthetically pleasing to my eyes but oh boy was I wrong for many and I mean MANY years[though ik this may not be the case for everyone in the LGBT+ community/self ship community it was for me so keep that in mind  ] I struggled with the idea of aesthetic attraction and romantic attraction mainly separating the two until I came to the realization I was a lesbian, firstly because I would never date a man irl im only comfortable with woman and only finding woman attractive despite finding them aesthetically pleasing or liking that character ,  I would not be comfortable physically or mentally  in a hetero relationship  secondly it was only aesthetic attraction not raw romantic attraction that I had for these fictional men/male presenting characters. because I would never I mean NEVER date one if they were real, and which they aren't I only liked them because they were unattainable and I think that speaks for itself on the matter. thirdly, theres comphet, comphet can be very harmful towards the lesbian community and this is a healthier way of me coping rather then making rash decisions because of comphet . 

lastly id like to add ; if you see  lesbian folks self shipping with man/male presenting characters mind ya business and think twice about judging us and actually look into the context of it because we exist and we are valid for having this experience.

I don't know who needs to hear this. But a reminder if you're female and self ship or f/o with a Male character but you are pan/bi/ace. It doesn't make you actually straight. If you ship mostly with men that doesn't make you actually straight.

Would any of the fictional men I like actually be a person I'd be interested in if they were a real person? Absolutely not! Most of their wild personalities and actions would not be okay in real life! Shipping with men on tumblr is safe and we can self project our own feelings and intentions onto them while avoiding real world issues. Online spaces like this become safe spaces for us to fantasize and love ourselves via these f/o's and self ships without danger. And to simply have fun delving into fictional worlds and spaces!

Honestly I could do a deep dive into that for hours. But bottom line is. Liking men doesn't make you any less gay. Especially fictional men that we're projecting onto!! Me finding the amazing hunk of man that Clark Kent is doesn't make me not pan anymore or lying about my feelings to anybody else it just means I have eyes and good taste.

I know I personally have had the passing thought of not being gay enough. Not shipping with women or anyone else enough. But the self doubt of "not being gay enough" is SUCH a gay thing to do!!! We owe explanations and "proof" to absolutely no one

You are valid and you are free to ship with whoever you want of whatever gender or sexuality you please. Sexuality is a spectrum and we are ever evolving beings. You are your own person and a beautiful member of the LGBTQIA+ community
