💜🏳🌈 HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE
Hi guys! I’d like to talk about my own future as a queer person who’s living in a country where Section 377 is still law.
I want to move to the United States for both my safety and education, and I need your help to do it.
It’s honestly always been a dream of mine to be able to study abroad, I just let go of the dream for a while because I believed it wouldn’t be possible for me, especially as a queer and disabled Bangladeshi in poverty.
But I’ve finally started to try and aim for that dream. It’s going to be a hard one but I’m trying my best, I have faith that I can achieve it, especially with the help of everyone that loves, supports and cares for me.
Section 377 states that anyone who has queer relationships is subject to being imprisoned. While this law is not always heavily exercised by the government, hate crimes still remain rampant and rights are little to none. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Bangladesh…
Being queer here means that you have to hide and keep your identity in obscurity, otherwise you are in both physical and psychological danger.
I’m someone who’s very open about my identity, both online and in real life, and stifling who I am is detrimental to my very being.
I struggle with anxiety and other issues surrounding my identity on the daily. Not just my queer identity but the very fact that I am assigned female at birth creates a plethora of issues for me, especially in terms of trying to reach for my dreams.
My dreams involve:
🌈 Finishing my education 🌈 Working with social media marketing and YouTubers 🌈 Creating a dog shelter in Bangladesh (the overpopulation of dogs is rampant here and they are often diseased and unhomed).
I’m determined to aim for these goals as best as I can, and for that I need the support and security that being enrolled in college in North America would bring me.
And that’s why I want to try and move to the USA. I want to be happy, I want to make a mark in the world and open my dog shelter and change the animal rights scene in Bangladesh. I want to finish my education and give back to the community to the best of my abilities.
I want to help people, too, especially other Bangladeshi queer people, and I’m already associated with queer rights groups to try and make a difference.
And for me to be able to do all of that, I need a good education, too.
With all of that being said, *please* help me.
Even a dollar is a huge deal to me, any amount of donations would help, and if you can’t donate, that’s fine, too! Sharing this post or the GFM link above and below through reblogs/retweets/messages, in your circles and to your communities/groups is great help as well.
Every bit of help is appreciated by me. And I promise that your efforts will result in fruition! This is just the start of my awesome future full of lots of success and happiness B) And I wanna take you guys along for the ride.
I’ll post updates on my GFM page: https://gofund.me/a6080a36
