Here is the step-by-step guide on installing wall plasterboard correctly.
Tools and Materials Required
Before getting started, get the following tools and materials together:
Tools
Measuring tape
Utility knife
Drywall saw
Screw gun or drill
T-square or straightedge
Level
Joint knife (for taping)
Sanding block or pole sander
Safety goggles and dust mask
Materials
Plasterboard sheets
Drywall screws
Joint tape (paper or fibreglass)
Joint compound (mud)
Corner beads (if needed)
Step 1: Measure and Cut the Plasterboard
Measure the Wall: Use a measuring tape to determine the height and width of the wall where you will install the plasterboard.
Locate the Vertical Studs: Use a stud finder to identify the vertical studs in the wall. Mark them with a pencil.
Cutting the Plasterboard: Lay the plasterboard sheet on a flat surface. Using a utility knife, score the front of the board along your measurements, then snap it along the score line. Cut through the paper backing to separate the pieces.
Step 2: Installation of Plasterboard
Position the Sheet: Press the plasterboard sheet against the wall, aligning it with the studs. It should be level.

Apply joint compound: Using a joint knife spread a layer of joint compound over the taped seams. Feather out the edges to create a smooth transition between the compound and plasterboard.
Let dry: Allow the joint compound to dry completely, which may take several hours or overnight.
Step 4: Sand and Finish
Sand Smooth: Allow drying; use a sanding block or pole sander to fill out rough spots and edges that show through with the joint compound.
