She has head trauma, a bacterial infection, and an upper respiratory infection. Likely, because she's an amputee, she took a tumble in her cage and didn't catch herself on the nets etc we set up for just that reason. Then she aspirated vomit which caused the infections. She's doing okay because we got her in quickly, but it's a good reminder that birds are very good at hiding their illnesses and you have to be on the lookout for ANY sign that they are unwell.

My clumsiest child is sick :/ we’re lucky to have good avian vets around us. It definitely pays to be in such a large city.

Ripley has figured out how to ask for cheek scritches by holding her foot to her face and making her baby cockatiel begging for food noise

MY COCKATIEL DOES THE ASKING FOOT FOR SCRITCHES THING TOO OMG!! Isn't it the silliest thing? It's so cute when they do that :D

:D I was pretty surprised lol. At first I thought she just had an itch and was having a hard time reaching it, but it's been consistent for about a week. It's very clever haha and she's normally ....not so clever. I scritch every time as a reward for learning how to ask (and also because it's so friggen cute ;o;)
