How do some people still have the gall to say it was because if Lyra said Avery went missing?? I saw someone say what Lyra said to Eve set of a chain reaction and inevitably Avery getting kidnapped and makes no sense that only one character gets the hate someone said ‘whether u like it or not what Lyra said was part of the reason’.

So let me get this straight, you ‘read’ a book by turning your brain off or skipping parts? Or do you simply not care to so you can carry on trying to get people to hate on Lyra? Because thats what it seems like to me. I really am curious as to why exactly these people just love to take her out of context, ignoring her own story, her reasons and them blatantly making up lies and content to share on a platform with a huge audience. You can have problems with the way she was written but calling her Avery 2.0 and the reason why everything went down?? Wow that is some next level ignorance and as someone who has been here since the tig books I really wanna say if you lack basic character analyzation, human empathy and reading comprehension then this series is genuinely not for you. Don’t consider this a hate post but I’m just so damn angry that even after glorious rivals some people just have the NEED to hate on her somehow. Before you say…..’but, but, she told Eve this…she said that’ shut up learn to comprehend because she told Eve nothing. She only happened to ask if she knew anything about their grandmother and Eve tells she knows nothing. She was perfectly transparent about what went down to grayson and if you still want to blame her for Jameson’s shitty behaviour then no you haven’t read nor understood anything or anyone so please go read it again until you form some idea of what exactly is going on.

Glorious Rivals (spoilers alert ‼️)

1. Jameson

The fandom needs to understand that u can still like a character and criticise their actions.

Criticism ≠ hating

But what pissed me off more was not him telling lyra and jameson to go to hell but his decision to disqualify Lyra . In chapter 32, Lyra meets Eve and she makes her a deal

In exchange eve offers her answers to three questions one of them being

Neither did Eve nor Lyra know anything about what is up with Alice, Eve even confirms she was bot the one to send the calla lily’s but did plant the notes of ger father’s game. That confirms two games are being played one from Eve when she manipulates Savannah and then anonymously inviting Lyra. Then Lyra tells Grayson about the entire conversation he proceeds to confront Jameson and tell him the truth including miles end and about her father in Chapter 41. (Mind you this was before Avery went missing)

And then Rohan reveals Jameson asked him to find a reason to get Lyra disqualified. THIS . Even after being confronted with the truth he chooses to go ahead with that plan, to see that someone despite not being invited by him is playing to save her HOME. HER LITERAL HOME. THE ONE WHERE HER FAMILY LIVES. One she might have to sacrifice her education for. That is not viewing someone as a threat, its straight up abuse of power. Then he again chooses to insult her as if his secret keeping was not the one that began this shit show. Maybe jlb overlooked it, a plot hole probably but if he did see her as a threat and knew he didnt invite her why not disqualify her at the VERY BEGINNING?? The fact that he CHOSE to lack BASIC human empathy and not considering the fact that not everyone has a big ass house and enough money to relocate and still see through to disqualify her is what gets me.

Also because I know what it is like to lose a childhood home. The house was my grandmother’s and thats where i spent a lot of my time growing up now it’s being torn down to build roads, even though our family lives somewhere else now.

Now, apart from the part I wrote above, him crashing out over Avery disappearing is understandable, seeing Lyra as part of the reason why it happened in a fit of rage too, I want his pov in the next book. So yeah, I’d very much like to see his arc and justification in the gilded blade.

A FEW THOUGHTS ON THE GLORIOUS RIVALS SPOILERS FLYING AROUND

( please keep in mind that these are thoughts purely based on the spoilers, I have not read the book and so if any of them are wrong or if I have misunderstood the context I will also post AFTER I read the book to refine any)

1. THE LYRA AND EVE SITUATION

As I have mentioned I don’t for sure know the context of what went down between them but as far as I have read the spoilers, Lyra happened to tell Eve about Alice. I do not know how or who told lyra about alice but hear me out, it doesn’t mean you can hate on her because of it. It feels as though everyone conveniently forgets Eve is a master manipulator, the same way she was in tfg.

If anything Eve might have convinced lyra she was on the good side and totally not trying to sabotage things. I know for a fact lyra is not a character who would sell family secrets on a whim especially given that she has some trauma of her own. Keep in mind lyra is looking for answers too, about why she was invited to the game and who did so plus about her father as well.

2. THE JAVERY, LYRA AND GRAYSON SITUATION

I’ve stumbled on different opinions on this and read the pages myself, heres the thing its absolutely understandable why jameson and avery would not trust lyra or think she is not trustworthy when she told eve about alice but in any case does it warrant causing a fight and telling lyra and grayson to “go to hell”? No. I understand people defending their actions and calling back to how grayson thought avery was a threat, but theres a difference between the two situations, grayson was not picking fights with avery nor insulting her. To be very honest when jameson said lyra had a “big mouth telling eve about alice and how she and grayson can go to hell” I WAS SHOCKED, I mean like mouth open and could not think anything for a moment shocked. Given everything javery went through he has a valid reason to not trust anyone lyra included and so does avery but although the question i have is if they did not trust her that much then why didnt they disqualify her knowing they didnt invite her? Knowing that someone has been invited behind their backs would only open a can of worms and was a call for trouble? They are the game masters anyway. Everyone of the hawthorne brothers needs therapy but not telling his brothers about alice was also wrong. I do admit i am getting tired of certain characteristics, one criticism i have seen is that javery still treat everything as a game and keeping everything between themselves, this might be jlb’s way of stretching the story but it becomes repetitive and annoying at some point, if thats the way she keeps writing them then its just lack of growth for avery and jameson.

3. AVERY BRING KIDNAPPED?

See i have read three books where it was evident avery would definitely be in some kind of trouble given her recent inheritance but now? The whole dead people being alive and kidnapping? Even gigi? It’s repetitive and annoying. I trust jlb’s vision but its so obvious when an author keeps reusing certain tropes and writing for the sole purpose of producing a sequel which in turn just ends up feeling like lazy writing just leads to the haters getting agency to whine on. I am not a fan of it anymore although i will complete the series because i love the tig universe but i can also have my criticisms. Now that i have gotten that out of the way i just hope she is alright and everyone gets their happy ending in the last book because they all deserve it.

4. THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR LOVE FOR MISUNDERSTANDING AND NOT COMMUNICATING

Another criticism i have for the writing is the above it just feels like no-one is ready to talk nor try and understand things and yet again it becomes annoying. One good thing ? Grayson getting therapy, was very much needed and happy that he did so. +1 point to him for character growth. I just wish Jameson had done so too, the whole treating everything as a game and keeping it to yourself? I feel like now grayson decides to be better Jameson is the one driving a wedge through it by doing the things he does. At some point i was thinking they need to stop and GROW. ( i am not disregarding emily 🤮and tobias🤮) simply stating that they are adults now and its whether they choose to be better and understand the other or not that makes them grow as people.

5. THE HATERS

Haters applies to hating on any character btw. Most of the haters I have seen are almost always biased or look over anything their character has done be it good or bad. Peoples love for tropes and completely butchering characters, making up lies and getting other people to believe it is almost infuriating especially the ones on Pinterest, some are just so plain misogynistic, hinting at incest and disgusting. I would like to attach a comment i saw on Pinterest on why this person ‘did nit like lyra’ and its just so repulsive and exaggerated.

Lyra Rant

The whole debate around whether lyra is good for grayson or not is so DUMB. I’m convinced people who say that grayson deserves a sunshine gf and that lyra is avery #2 are the same averygrayson shippers who are mad that they didn’t end up together and are still hung up on them and the whole ‘if gigi was not his sister i wish they wouldve been romantically involved’ that take is just ???????????? Like wdym some even say ‘oh but they are just HALF SIBLINGS’ just say that you are into the whole incestuous My fault type of shit. The fact that some people actually ship gigi and grayson is just disgusting. Grayson sees gigi as what she is. His.sister. And I feel like the other issue with the emergence of booktok and bookstagram is the fact that people always want a ‘trope’ for the main couple like in this case ‘grumpy bf x sunshine gf’ so much so that any depiction of a real relationship is just plain boring for them. Also this was the FIRST book in the series?? We have two more to go so why are people so quick on whether they think she is good for grayson or not?? She is only a POTENTIAL love interest not a confirmed one. We’ll get to know her as the books progress. Oh and the argument for she is too similar to avery is that she very serious and wants to keep away from grayson and she is too smart like her. The only similar plot I could find between them was the test that the two took. Also are they forgetting about the fact that she and her family are may lose the house that they own, where she grew up??also the fact that she may have to drop-out of college for the same reason??and did I mention that her biological father shot himself and her repressed trauma is back?? And the only clue he left her was ‘a hawthorne did this’ ??? And the only person she felt she could approach was Grayson, and he told her to stop calling and believed he did not want to help her?? What else do you do other than not like the guy from her pov?? OF COURSE SHE WILL PLAY THE GAME LIKE HER LIFE DEPENDS UPON IT. How are people this dense?? Of course she wont like grayson and not exactly trust him. Grandest game IS NOT A ROMANCE BOOK for gods sake that you only focus on the grayson and lyra relationship plot point. The ones who hate lyra because of the sunshine gf take an all either are of the opinion that ‘grayson deserves the best because oh i have the biggest crush on this guy and he is an angel and no one can compare to avery’ or because of the whole trope addiction. If relationships were purely based on tropes then we would be putting people into boxes. Also did I mention the fact that EVERYONE in this game magically has the ability to solve complex ass puzzles an all?? There are others who don't LIKE her character because of the way it was written in the first book, that take valid because honestly where there a few things I wish JLB had written more clearly and slowly? Yes. Do I completely Hate the character because of it? No. There are two more books just wait, We don't know her or the situation so well, we were just introduced to it. Also 2025 averygrayson shippers still hung up on them?? Move on respectfully cuz u know why? Even if they did end up together grayson was way still hung up on emily’s trauma and desperately needed therapy and that is evident on the way he approached eve so yeah.
