Dear Gen Z
Your jokes about World War 3 are not funny
Your jokes about âvladdy daddyâ are not funny
Your jokes about Ukraine are not funny
Your jokes about how you gonna pose to pics to look nice in history books are not funny
We have war in Ukraine. We do not laugh
Putin attacked our country. He is not a âdaddyâ to us he is the person who kills our families and friends
Ukraine is our home and it is now being destroyed. It is not funny to us
In Kyiv and other cities bombs are falling down, the Putinâs army is on the streets, we are being killed, we are trying to find a place to hide. We do not care about how we look and if you were in our situation you would not care either
War in Ukraine is not a joke. It is a reality that we are facing right now. Your jokes to âcope with itâ are disgusting because you have nothing to cope with. Your country is not being attacked, you and your family, your friends too are safe. Stop it. Now

Snakes & Ladders - part two
*not my gif, credit goes to the actual owner, @elkelix*
Pairing: Camilo x fem!reader
Summary: When a village girl catches Camilo's eye, he can't help but constantly run into her.
Warnings: none, fluff
a/n: I do not speak Spanish. I used Google Translate for this. Please let me know if anything is wrong and I will fix it immediately!
a/n: Sorry this took so long! School is really cramping my schedule right now, so it was hard to find free time to write. Again, criticism is welcome. Hope you guys enjoy!
Part one
The week following was a blur, honestly. Your chores went on as usual, nothing special happened. You would see fleeting glimpses of Camilo as you ran through town on deliveries. The weather that week hadnât been its best â Pepa was stressing out over the upcoming wedding between Dolores and Mariano â so you and Camilo couldnât babysit. And while your chores still had you running around town, Camilo was stuck inside helping prepare for the wedding.
At last, the weekend came, and the sun was shining. Félix was taking Pepa on a picnic to help her relieve her stress. Since the busy part of the week was over for most people, the town was still quiet as you made your delivery rounds.
âY/n! One last delivery!â your mother called as you walked into the house. She held out a basket covered with a cloth. You could smell the food in the basket and your stomach rumbled.
âBring this to Julieta, por favor?â she asked.
Taking the basket, you step out the door and make your way towards La Casa Madrigal.
Arriving at the door, you went to knock, but the doors swung open before you could. The tiles beneath you shifted, and you were moved into the house. Almost as if the house could tell where you needed to go, you continued to be moved all the way to the kitchen. When you arrived, the tiles abruptly stopped, and you almost fell.
Julieta, who had been tending the stove, turned around in surprise at the sudden clatter in the front of the room.
âDios mĂo! Are you alright?â she rushed over to you. You nodded, you were just a little shaken from your trip. You nodded a little before coming back to your senses.
âOh! Yes, thank you, Iâm fine.â You said, âMy mamĂ wanted me to bring this to you.â You hold out the basket to her.
She sets the basket on the table beside her. âGracias, Y/n.â she smiles and takes your hands in her own and guides you over to the stove. âI made some arepas, you should have some!â she exclaims.
âBut Iâm not sick?â you questioned. You only ate Julietaâs food when you were sick or hurt.
She shook her head, âIt doesnât matter, you can still have some even if youâre fine.â She offered the small cake to you again. This time you to took it with a smile on your face.
âGracias, Señora.â You say as you bite into the arepa. It was delicious.
The two of you talked for a little while after that. Julieta mentioned that when your chores calmed down you should hang out with her daughter, Mirabel. You had only seen Mirabel at town gatherings, and your chores were constant throughout each week, but you appreciated her suggestion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After many goodbyes, and arepas stuffed into your bag, you left the kitchen.
You were making your way towards the door when Casita decided to shift the tiles, tripping you up. Starting to fall for the second time that day, you drop your bag and hold your arms out to catch yourself. You shut your eyes, bracing yourself for the impact of the floor, but it never comes.
Slowly opening your eyes, you find yourself staring into the eyes of a familiar Madrigal.
âWe meet again, chica serpienteâ the shapeshifter says, smirking slightly.
Your heart flutters and you feel your face grow warm. Of course it was him, itâs always him.
Clearing your throat, you awkwardly stand up straight and bend down to pick up your fallen bag. You quickly stand back up and are face to face with Camilo once more.
Youâre close enough that you can count the freckles sprinkled across his nose and cheeks. He stares at you intensely, not noticing how it made your breath hitch and your palms start to sweat.
Camilo smiles and grabs your hand, âCome onâ he says. And drags you out the door. You run behind him, unsure of where he was going.
Camilo continues dragging you through the streets before coming to an abrupt stop. You slam into his back from the suddenness, causing him to trip forward and fall. Thankfully, he catches himself before hitting the ground.
âSorryâ you say as you reach out your hand to help him up.
He grins and takes it. A mischievous glint lights up in his eyes and before you can react, he pulls you down with him - catching you before you hurt yourself.
Camilo laid back and looked up at the sky. He patted the ground beside him and you laid next to him.
âThis is nice,â you say, looking over to Camilo, âBut I think I know a better place.â
He looks over at you, eyes boring into yours. You feel hot under his gaze, but it doesnât make you uncomfortable, you like it. He grins at you, sitting up,
âOh yeah, and where would that be?â
You stand and grab his hand, âCome onâ you say, and start running towards your house.
Camilo laughs behind you as you drag him through the streets. When the two of you arrive at your house, you go to the back to find the ladder. Camilo smiles when the realization sets in.
You come out from behind the house and wave him over. âCouldnât find the ladder, weâll have to go through the house.â You say.
Camilo simply smiles, âNo need, princessa.â
Camilo grabs your waist and brings you flush to his chest. You squeak at the sudden closeness. Camilo starts running towards the house. You groan when you realize what heâs doing.
âDios mio, not this again.â You think to yourself, closing your eyes. Camilo shifts in to different people to reach higher. He uses a bench to jump up to the roof, still shifting, and grabs on to the edge of the side of house. He carefully hoists you up onto the roof and pulls himself up after. He sighs as he sits down, winded from that crazy feat.
âYou know,â you say, nudging his shoulder, âWe couldâve just gone through the house. It would have been much quicker, and safer.â
Seeing his smile slightly dim, you immediately say, âBut it was fun! I enjoyed it. Your gift is really cool.â
He turns to you and smiles brightly, âNo problem chica serpiente.â You sigh, again with that nickname. You didnât hate it though. It was a unique nickname, not just some generic pet name.
You laugh and fall onto your back, looking up at the clouds. Camilo follows in a similar suit. You turn on your side to face him, and he does the same. The two of you get quiet as you look at each other.
The silence isnât uncomfortable though, it feels almost welcoming. As you look into Camiloâs warm brown eyes, you feel butterflies erupt once more. He just had that affect on you, and you knew exactly why, but you were still in denial with yourself.
Thereâs no way he could love me the way I love him. He just sees me as a friend, or does he even see me as that? If I tell him how I feel, heâll stop wanting to be around me, or worse, heâll stay in pity.
Subconsciously, the two of you had gotten closer to each other. Camilo wrapped his arm around the side of your waist and pulled you even closer. You were now so close to each other, your noses were practically touching.
âHi,â you whispered, unsure of what to do.
Camilo didnât respond, he just looked into your eyes.
âCam-,â you started, before you were cut of with his lips on yours.
You widened your eyes in surprise before closing your eyes and melting into the kiss. After a second, Camilo pulled away smiling and blushing.
âIâm just gonna go ahead and say it - I love youâ he breathed out. âBut if you donât feel the same way I totally understand. I get it-,â This time it was you who cut him off with a kiss.
âI love you too,â you say shyly as his grin grows wider and wider. He pulls you close to his chest and kisses your head.
âBueno. Porque no te dejarĂ© ir, mi vida.â

Snakes & Ladders - part one
*not my gif, credit goes to the actual owner, @elkelix*
Pairing: Camilo x fem!reader
Summary: When a village girl catches Camilo's eye, he can't help but constantly run into her.
Warnings: snake?(idk if this is a warning, but whatever), fluff

this is my first time posting one of my fics, so feedback(and criticism). part 2 will be out soon! thank you, love you guys <3
Part two
The sunâs early rays peaked into your room, signaling the start of another glorious day. Of chores. Groaning, you sat up and rubbed your eyes.
âY/n, hurry up. Youâre going to be late!â your mother calls from downstairs. You heard her bustling around in the kitchen, no doubt getting breakfast set up for you and your younger brothers.
You yawn, âComing, Mami!â. You quietly, so as not to wake up your brothers, get dressed and head downstairs.
The house was silent when you entered the kitchen. Your mother had probably already left for work, as usual. You grabbed your food from the table and picked up your basket for deliveries for this morning and walked out the door.
You checked your basket for the list of market stands you had to stop by and made your way towards the heart of town.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âBuenos dĂas, y/nâ a villager calls out as you pass by.
You smile and wave at him. âHola señor!â
You make a few rounds of deliveries and you check your list. One more, you have to pick up fruit from the produce stand. You make your way through the busy street.
When you got to the stand, there were still a lot of people running around, so you had to squeeze your way through a mess of hectic to get to the table.
âSnake!â someone shrieks from behind you. Everyone scatters from the stands and thatâs when you see it. A brown and green snake around the size of your arm. You back up a little, unsure as to what to do. You werenât necessarily frightened of the snake, your brothers were very curious about the animal kingdom, so you were used to seeing wild animals around and learned to deal with it.
Someone ran forward with a broom, ill intentions for the innocent creature clear, and thatâs when you snapped out of your trance.
You drop your stuff and run over to where the snake was curling around the leg of a table. âNo stop! Donât hurt it!â you shout, putting your hands up to stop the broom from ending the poor creatureâs life.
The man with the broom looked in confusion towards you, but you paid him no mind, turning around and squatting down to get level with the snake.
Meanwhile, Camilo and Antonio Madrigal were scouring the streets when a commotion up ahead caught their attention. Camilo heard a girl shout and ran ahead, worried if someone was hurt. When he and Antonio broke through the crowd, he saw the back of a girl crouched down by a table.
Murmurs ran through the crowd and both Madrigals were confused as to what had happened.
The girl stood up and turned around to face the newcomers and Camilo felt his heart stop. She was beautiful, her y/h/c hair shone in the sun and her y/e/c sparkled. Camilo stared in awe.
âCarlos!â Antonio exclaimed, running forward. In his daze, Camilo hadnât noticed that coiled around your hand was the very snake that Antonio had asked him to help find this morning.
When Antonio reached you, he nervously looked from the snake to the girlâs eyes. Nervously, he pointed to Carlos, âUm â Can I? â Thatâs â Carlos â?â he stuttered and pointed, unable to ask the girl for the snake. Rather than laugh at the childâs nervousness, she simply smiled and crouched down to eye level with the young Madrigal.
Offering her arm out, she let Carlos the runaway snake slither from his refuge on her arm to the shoulders of Antonio. âOf course, amigo. Here you go.â Her voice was beautiful, âYou know, my hermanos love snakes.â
Antonio smiled before shyly walking back to Camilo, who realized heâd been staring at the whole interaction. Antonio tugged at his hand and started to walk out of the crowd.
Camilo started to follow him, but turned around and looked back. You had kneeled down and were picking up your spilled items from your basket.
Feeling eyes on you, you looked up and the two of you made direct eye contact. Embarrassed you looked back down, feeling red creep up onto your face. Camilo felt the same.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Later that day, after you had finished your deliveries, you were walking around town with your two younger brothers, Diego and Miguel, while picking up kids from the village to babysit.
âMuchos Gracias, Y/n. I really appreciate it.â A woman said as you knocked on her door to pick up her daughter.
âOf course, Señora! Itâs not a problem. Diego and Miguel appreciate the company.â You responded as the young girl came next to you and held onto the fabric of your skirt, just like your brothers. The three of you walked out onto the street and the kids huddled close, surprisingly shy for 5-year-olds. You picked up the last kid who oddly had a coffee mug in his hands and wouldnât let anyone take it away from him.
Up ahead of you, you saw 3 little kids running around playing a game with a ball. You looked around, it didnât look like there was anyone watching them. You walked over, concerned that the kids were alone.
When you arrived at the group, all 3 kids looked up at you. But before you could ask the kids anything, a small curly-haired boy walked up to you and reached for your hand. He stayed by your side, even as the 3 kids holding your skirt let go to play with the other kids.
âExcuse me, niños.â You interrupted their playing,
âDo you have someone watching you?â They nodded and went back to playing.
You looked at the young boy at your side in exasperation and he shrugged.
âWho?â you questioned, âWhere are they?â
Without saying anything the kids pointed to the boy holding your hand. You looked back down to see him smiling up at you, and suddenly he changed into Camilo Madrigal, the village shapeshifter! He smiled teasingly at you as you jumped back in surprise.
He brought your hand, which he still managed to hold on to, to his lips and said with a smile.
âHola, Princesa.â The name made your face heat up and butterflies flutter in your stomach, âSorry, didnât mean to frighten you.â
You opened your mouth to reply, but you were cut off when Diego ran up to you and cried, âOur ball got stuck on the roof! Please get it back, Y/n!â he tugged on your hand and led you to the small circle the children had formed. Camilo, still holding your hand, followed. One of the kids pointed up and you squinted in the sun as you looked up at the roof of the house. There, you could see the ball peeking over the edge.
âItâs okay guys, Iâll grab a ladder and get it.â You say as you turn your head to look for a ladder. You spot one and start to walk towards it but you are stopped by a tug on your wrist. Camilo steps past you and turns to face you.
âNot to worry, bonita. I got thisâ he says gallantly. He turns and starts running towards the building, shifting into different people to reach higher. He uses a bench to jump up to the roof, still shifting, and grabs onto the edge of the side of the house. He grabs the ball and drops it down to the awestruck kids, who start squealing excitedly.
âSee? Who needs a ladder?â he calls down to you and you just roll your eyes, scoffing. He drops down, landing a little wobbly, and goes to stand next to you again.
You try to focus on the kids playing in front of you, but itâs hard with Camilo practically hovering over your shoulder. You didnât mind though, his presence was very welcoming and calming.
As the sun started to set, you remembered that you had to get the kids back to their parents and your brothers needed dinner. âDiego! Miguel! Vamos!â you called as you started grabbing your stuff.
Camiloâs smile dipped a little when he realized that you were leaving. He went over to help you grab your stuff. His hand brushed yours, awakening the butterflies in both of your stomachs once more, as he handed you your shawl. His face flushed red and he backed away a little when he saw the small smile that graced your features.
âWell,â you started, âI should get going. Mama wants Diego and Miguel to be in bed soon and I need to drop the other kids off.â
Camilo nodded, âYeah, I should probably go tooâ he gently grabs your wrist and brings it to his lips as he did earlier.
âFarewell, chica serpiente.â The nickname makes your face flush red, âMaybe weâll see each other tomorrowâ he says, hope evident in his voice.
âYes, maybe we will.â You say smiling. Turning to leave, you give him one last smile. And you and the kids holding your skirt walk away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the pitch-black night, long after you put your brothers to bed, you lie awake in your bed, unable to sleep. Quietly, you tiptoe over to your open window. Stepping onto the ledge, you turn at an odd angle and pull yourself onto the roof of your house. You slowly crawl over to the middle of the roof and lay down. A lantern that you kept up there, since you did this often, sat next to you. You took a small match that you had smuggled from the kitchen out of your pocket and lit the lantern. It wasnât bright â just enough for you to see a little.
Little did you know, you werenât the only person in Encanto who couldnât sleep that peaceful night.
Camilo groaned and flipped over in his bed, unable to find a comfortable position. After a few more minutes of tossing and turning, he sat up and went to sit by his window. The cool air usually helped him fall asleep. As he looked out the window, he noticed a dim light standing out in the dark town. He squinted at the light and noticed it was on top of a roof of a small house.
Careful not to wake up anyone in the house, Camilo slipped on his ruana and out the front door into the cool air. He walked quickly down the empty street to where he saw the light.
Arriving at the small house, he saw the dim lantern resting on the roof. He backed up a little to get a better view of the roof and saw a person lying next to it! Camilo yelped in surprise, which caused the person on the roof to sit up.
Looking down, you saw Camilo Madrigal, looking up at you with a confused and shocked expression. Smiling, you motion for him to join you on top of the house. He gave you a thumbs up and slowly approached the house.
âLadder?â he called softly, careful not to wake anyone up.
You motioned around the house, âIn the backâ you whispered, âBut I thought you donât need a ladder?â
He chuckled at the reference to his boast earlier, âWell, princesa, seeing as Iâm not a cat, I canât see in the dark. I wouldnât be able to see where I was going.â.
Camilo ran around the backside of your house and climbed up the ladder.
Sighing, he sat down next to you, âYou come up here often?â he questioned.
âIâd say so,â you replied, looking up at the stars, âI like watching the stars, they tell the story of the earth.â
Camilo turns to look at you. The moonâs soft glow covered your face. Your smile made his heart pound. The way your hair shone in the dim light made the butterflies erupt in his stomach. He just sat there, watching you talk about the stars.
God, how he loved you
Wait- What?!
