HUH?! HUH!? Every single time Morgana dreamt of some terrible shit happening to Arthur, she tried her best to warn everyone and anyone who would listen without revealing herself as magical

Script writers: 'have Gaius make the worst take' challenge👹

I'm glad Katie McGrath was so protective of her character Morgana because no one else was (except maybe Morgause)

Rambles now back to chronological order of how the ep went:

Arthur telling Merlin to run - with the intention of staying behind to fight undead soldiers who can't be felled; ain't no way the crown prince would sacrifice himself like that for any other servant

Katie McGrath, the Merthur shipper, is back in this episode's audio commentary lolololol😂

But fr it was very sweet that Arthur noticed Merlin was hurt and immediately wrapped his injury🤭

The makeup in the show is fairly period accurate, until there is an evil character or a character turns evil, and then they must have the thickest 2000s-styled eyeliner known to humankind

"We could dress him [Uther] as a woman." Merlin, why was that your FIRST idea😭

Arthur is clueless af and apparently incapable of reading into intonations, but no one can say that man isn't incredibly protective of the people he loves🥺

I can't say that if I were in Kilgharrah's position, I wouldn't also take revenge; only Uther deserves the dragon's ire, but if anyone stewed in their anger for 20+ years, chained up without sunlight or company, they'd probably take drastic measures upon their release

I’m half convinced Kilgharrah is pulling some of these prophecies out of his ass - wdym it was foretold that Morgana and Mordred would work together to fuck over Albion, and you’re just telling Merlin NOW⁉️

If Merlin had confided in Morgana, she wouldn’t be betraying Camelot, but noooo the dragon convinced him to leave her in the dark👹 (tbf Gaius did too, but Merlin would’ve disobeyed if it was just Gaius)

Merlin being the most powerful magic user in the world and spending his entire time fighting against the rise of magic because a chained-up dragon told him he’s the chosen one🙃🫠

I love Merlin (the character), but yikes😬 that was so cowardly - tripping Mordred knowing if he got caught, the knights would kill him regardless of his age - if you want Mordred dead, have the guts to do it yourself

Alvarr is a bit shady, but he’s a real one for not naming Morgana as an accomplice

I was worried Morgana was going to do a 180 in personality instantly, but the show is actually doing a fairly good job of showing (ha) the breakdown of Morgana and Uther’s relationship and thus the breakdown of Morgana’s faith in Uther’s Camelot

Apprentice to the Villain (book 2) was a fantasy adventure

I'm about 15% through Accomplice to the Villain (book 3) as of this bullet point, and it's shaping up to be the best one yet

Idk how Evie and Gideon got past Nura (albeit accidentally) aiming the full force of her powers at Lyssa so quickly; If Keeley hadn't been there, Lyssa would have died

RENNEDAWN'S STORY WAS WRITTEN ON THE WINDOWS ALL ALONG (amazing plot device that the original glass was used, but the windows were all redesigned, so they'll have to go piecing it all together again)

If Kingsley loses his human sentience, and it’s not fixed by the end of the book, I’m gonna riot ➡️ we didn’t even get one sentence from his human lips, but he’s back!

Trystan “The Villain” Maverine STUTTERING. High five Evie✋

All of chapter 19 was glorious

Merthur scene with the rope was GOLD😂 (Arthur, there was no way Merlin was going to be strong enough to not drop you, especially when you're wearing full chainmail and armor)

Oh my god, Uther was too ready to consummate his marriage with Catrina, that man was RIPPING off his coat👹

Arthur committing treason before the episode even hits the 4-minute mark by letting Merlin go (begging him to leave, in fact) - mans is simping already

Arthur has never been more attractive than when he’s arguing against tyranny, seeing him be so adamantly against the throne issuing more taxes on the people of Camelot, someone fan me🥵

Gaius making Merlin taste the fake potion (and the real one) was pure evil😭

Uther dresses in finery and wears a lot of jewelry in every scene he’s in, in contrast - Arthur wears simple clothing with almost no adornments in most of his scenes and only wears fancy shit when he’s required to at feasts and such

F*ck the character, but Catrina’s hairstyles have been fire this episode - the intricate, braided half-up half-down the night of their wedding and the coronation updo *chef’s kiss*

IM CRYING THE FADE TO BLACK AFTER UTHER THROWS THE TROLL ON THE BED💀 there is absolutely no way they decided to imply that Uther actually f*cked her (this isn't what I meant when I said "F*ck the character")😭😭😭

They really stepped it up this season with Kilgharrah’s animation

2x02 The Once and Future Queen

That fall Colin Morgan does in the forest to showcase Merlin’s clumsiness is so good😆

Arthur taking Gwen’s bed (albeit unknowingly) and leaving her to sleep on the ground is absolutely crazy ��️ He redeemed himself just a bit by refusing to take the bed once he knew

I’m so here for Gwen tearing Arthur a new one for being the worst house guest ever (side note her lavender dress is stunning🤩)

The violins that play during Gwen x Arthur moments are so romantic (I love Merthur as much as anyone in the fandom, but I have to admit that Angel Coulby and Bradley James have great chemistry too)

Anthony Head does such a good job oscillating between unforgivable tyrant and loving guardian

(I’ve seen the first 2 seasons before a few years ago, so this was a rewatch [yes, in 2025, over a decade after the show ended]. I also know how the show ends, yet I’m committed to watching the whole series and getting my heart torn in two.)

Colin Morgan’s and Bradley James’s acting impresses me in nearly every scene they’re in

The way Richard Wilson (Gaius) says “sorcery” tickles my brain

The relationship between Merlin and Gaius is so sweet

Arthur’s floor-length coat🫦

And Merlin’s stupid (affectionate) neckerchief too

Knowing how the series ends, my heart breaks for Arthur’s AND Morgana’s fates

Hearing Colin Morgan’s and Katie McGrath’s real accents slip out at times is endearing to me

Morgana deserves a better fate, she was hardly evil in S1, and I don’t believe that she’d turn evil if the circumstances were different

Also, I love Morgana’s wardrobe, I’d gladly gallivant around in those dresses, acting like it’s the year 900

Kilgharrah, a straight-up Uther hater (he’s so justified for that)

At the same time, I can’t help but dislike Kilgharrah for leading Merlin down a path of solitude and a destiny filled with burying friends

I think if Arthur found out that Merlin had magic in S1, Arthur would be conflicted about it, but he would tell Uther, and Merlin would’ve been executed

I’ve seen multiple people of the opinion that Arthur’s characterization is inconsistent throughout the show, and that makes me bummed because he’s got some really great moments and arcs in S1
