be honest, if we were seeing a movie and I knocked my popcorn over the balcony onto the town bullies, would you pour your soda on them and insult their physical appearance to put all of the attention on yourself?

hi!! i’m nervous about posting this but i’m hoping to start roleplaying more and i don’t know how to go about finding a roleplay partner so consider this my advertisement.
i’m looking for somebody to roleplay any members of the losers’ club.
- semi literate/literate. i can mirror whatever you do. i’d just ask no asterisks.
- platonic pairings or romantic pairings! my favorite characters to roleplay are stan and/or richie but i’m flexible. just know there might be a learning curve if i’m taking on a character i’m not used to.
- i can play one character or multiple, depending on what you want.
- 18+. even with sfw stuff, i’m not comfortable roleplaying with minors (i’m 20 btw)
- i usually choose to do AUs but i’m willing to give canon compliant/canon divergent roleplay a try!
- i’m very active. you don’t have to be although i would love an active partner. but just don’t be creeped out if i immediately start typing the second i get your reply.
- i’d prefer to use discord but i’m willing to try something else if you have a preferred platform.
- not a must but i would love somebody i can befriend and talk to ooc. i promise i don’t bite.
- i’m very flexible. just talk to me about what you want or don’t want and i can adjust as needed!
i just love these characters and their relationships and i want to write for them again.
if you’re interested, you can dm me here or on discord mmtittle#9828
maybe if IT mutuals could reblog this so there’s more of a chance it’ll be seen?? thank you.

Dear Fellow Roleplayers
I've noticed afew people on here, like to pm me and talk about a plot and sadly they never answer. so, please. if you are not going to answer, and be online constantly without a reason on why you aren't messaging me. then I will delete our pm and block you.
I do not want people wasting my time on waiting when you could have compassion and tell me why you weren't replying or even answering after a few days, but you've been online?
thank you, and please. don't bother to even message me if your just going to waste my time. and this is for everyone, not a particular person.

pls can u just rant about 1990s eddie, everything and anything, he needs more love 🥺
Okay. Finally getting to this.
So, I L O V E Miniseries Edward Kaspbrak.
This might be all over the place, and long, this will mostly be adult Eddie, and at the end I’ll talk a little about young Eddie. (I have only read half of the book ffr) also some of this is from notes I took while drunkenly rewatching the miniseries. So it might not be great, but you only asked for a rant <3
Firstly, I don’t really like what It Chapter 2 did to Eddie, a risk analyst is a huge discredit to Eddie I think, because despite his traumas and abuse, in the book/miniseries Eddie owned his own limo business - which was VERY successful. Starting a business can be a huge risk, and that alone speaks volumes for his character. But looking into it, it shows he had intelligence, charisma, perseverance and bravery. You could put a lot of money into a business venture and have it completely flop, it’s a gutsy move. And Eddie Kaspbrak took a risk, and became damn successful.
Which leads me to my next problem with Ch.2 Eddie. The clothes he wears. Eddie’s fashion in the miniseries is immaculate, he dresses fucking amazing. Like described in the books, gucci loafers wearing bitch. He owns a successful business and he LOOKS like it, he shows pride in what he does and his achievements in how he dresses, in designer SHIT. He knows what looks good, he’s stylish and fairly effeminate - which I think is really great representation for other men, especially for when the movie was released/when it was set. miniseries Eddie Kaspbrak said no to toxic masculinity, you can be well put together, stylish, not to conform to typical overly masculine traits, and still be successful, brave and no less of a man. Successful and the only male adult loser with s t y l e. I’m sure there were so many men who felt relieved to see a character like Eddie Kaspbrak in the media.
Adult Ch.2 Eddie’s clothes were fugly which goes with his fugly stupid job. But something I didn’t really connect was in @letsgetreddie‘s post recently (which finally gave me the boost to finally get this ask done, thank you btw <3) was that adult ch.2 Eddie dressed how his mum dressed him as a child. Which, is just... another huge discredit to him as a character. I understand that’s probably what they were going for, but I still think it’s a huge discredit!!!! He was so much more than his mother’s abuse, and his fashion in the miniseries really amplified that to me. And as they also said in their post, that ain’t cute. 10 points to miniseries Eddie.
One of my favourite moments is when Eddie goes to the pharmacy and sees Mr. Keene. Eddie thanks him for trying to tell him the truth about his fake medicine, Mr. Keene (who at a point seemed to be Pennywise) grabs him, Eddie’s terrified but he doesn’t react violently, doesn’t shout, he very kindly asks to be let go. He doesn’t want to inflict any harm, and as somebody who’s worked in a care home, I really appreciate the kindness he had at that moment. That he wouldn’t harm Mr. Keene despite evil clown man being in him.
Eddie Kaspbrak in the miniseries, like I’ve seen in the book so far, at his core is very loving and kind. He’s not the “dude” “bro” snapping constantly at his friends type of guy. He loves the Losers, he thinks they’re hilarious, but he also stands up for himself, and can be a funny snarky shit (I hate it when you stutter my name Bill, you sound like Elmer Fudd - like damn child Eddie. Not an exact quote, but it was along those lines)
Speaking of kid Eddie. There’s the trauma he goes through living with his mother, the placebo medicine, the Munchausen Syndrome by proxy. He’s very sheltered and afraid of a lot of stuff, he panics a lot. But it’s so beautiful how strong he is when he’s with the Losers. For example at some point, when the Losers give him a concerned look (I think it was as they were going into the sewers) he says “I’m with my friends, right?” He sounded so brave and assured in himself.
When they’re fighting It as kids, after Stan is captured by Pennywise, Beverly is fumbling to get the slingshot and silver, and Eddie steps forward with his inhaler, and gives out the famous line “This is battery acid, you slime.” despite his sheltered lifestyle from his mother, her saying she didn’t want him to be around the Losers anymore, despite the fears he has, he steps forward to save his friends without hesitation. Which is SO FUCKING BRAVE, they’re CHILDREN.
Not only that, but when the pact is made, he also agreed to come back with no hesitation. With the Losers he’s brave and FREE.
I’ll just be adding on to the drunk notes I took while watching the miniseries last. I’m starting to lose concentration so this part won’t be structured at all, it’s just short ramblings.
- He still lives with his mother and I hate that. -10/10
- Didn't cut his fortune cookie with a fork 1/10 (Great moment in the book. Loved it. Sad that it didn’t make the miniseries)
R E D D I E. Eddie lying on the floor with Richie, cuddled on the couch with Beverly and Richie. The Reddie vibes are way stronger in the miniseries, and their moments together are so tender and sweet. The scene in the library where they’re giggling and playing with each other and he holds up the thing that says silence????? *CHEFS KISS*
He’s so damn SWEET in the miniseries, he looks like he’s having fun with the Losers, he looks free and at ease, like how it showed him as a kid. He looks safe with the Losers, and the whole thing with the Losers is that they stick together and feel safe with one another.
Obviously thinks Ben's hot - I wrote this when I was drunkenly watching so I don’t remember the part in particular, but I believe myself.
Eddie is giggling always, and I LOVE IT, I’m pretty sure he giggles a few times in the book, so where was it in the movies?? I love that they didn’t try to make him overly masculine, because from what I’ve read, that just isn’t Eddie. It doesn’t make him a weak character or person, he cries and that’s damn realistic, there’s an evil space clown that killed children. It’s just great that they made him so open, I love that.
Immaculate hair - Wrote this note drunk, but we all know his hair is immaculate, no need to say any more.
"I don't know what's going to happen when the sun comes up, but I do know that I appreciate what you've done for everyone" GIVES MIKE THE RESPECT AND RECOGNITION HE DESERVES.
H a n d s o m e Dennis Christopher is so handsome, and Eddie is one of the more attractive members of the adult miniseries Losers Club (along with Mike and Bev)
Eddie: convinces Richie to stay with a look and a touch - another quick note I took, this is as Richie talks about the chance of leaving Derry. Honestly, they’re in love, and I love it. Like I said, the reddie vibes are way better in the miniseries.
The “i believe in santa/tooth fairy/Easter bunny, but I don’t believe in you.” And then again, “this is battery acid, you slime” scene, this had me in tears when I first watched it. Again he puts himself in front of the Losers, to protect his best friends the others he LOOKS INTO THE DEADLIGHTS WITHOUT BEING CAUGHT IN THEM, and gets the other losers out of it. He’s gone through a lot of trauma, he still lived with his abuser in the miniseries, but he’s just so GOD DAMN BRAVE.
The only Eddie to get out of the sewers/neibolt street. And that’s how it SHOULD BE.
Tumblr media
In conclusion. I love Miniseries Edward Kaspbrak, he’s a cutie, but he’s also brave as fuck. And I respect the fuck out of him. Isn’t a stupid risk analyst who  says dude and bro like the movie. But also isn’t fatphobic like in the book.
I would trust Miniseries Eddie to watch my drink, he’s so sweet, and caring. And he’s the best adult Eddie.

Eddie Kaspbrak is fucking gay folks
Listen, I know that MLA format is not one that you’re supposed to use personal pronouns in, but I don’t care. I need to express one thing right from the start: I don’t care what you hc Eddie as, that’s none of my fucking business, do what you want, but as a gay kid who spent far, far too long uncomfortable with my sexuality because people took it and said shit like, “He’s gay but he’s also ace because gay sex is ‘icky’” or shit about how “hard they were sinning” because of this gay ship, I’m tired. I’m fucking exhausted. So today, we’re going to run through all adaptations of It and our main man, Edward Kaspbrak and why he’s a gay man, a homoromantic homosexual, if you will.
To start, let’s take a step back to the original number one bestseller IT by Stephen King. This book is fucking huge my guy, a solid 1090 pages, in fact, and you know, that’s a lot of fucking space for queer coding, so let’s get started. Eddie’s first introduction to the audience is 79 pages into the novel in the fourth part of the third chapter, Eddie Kaspbrak Takes His Medicine. Soon after his introduction we get this fucking gem of information, “But in the end he had married Myra anyway. In the end the old ways and the old habits had simply been too strong.” ( 87, King). This quote clearly states that more than anything, marrying his wife had been out of habit. Myra is compared to his mother many times and each time it makes it more clear that this isn’t something he really wanted, but he had gone back to his mother three times before marriage and Myra was the next best thing to his mother. It was convenient to him, a habit and nothing more. On his way out of the house to head back to Derry King states, “Was that what he meant? That he had finally decided it was all right to lover her?” (92). This one is a bit more of a personal gay experience, in that when I was trying to be straight, it wasn’t that hard honestly, but it was easier when I didn’t actively have to do it. It was alright to love the guys I “loved” when I wasn’t around them because it didn’t take work, I didn’t have to prove it. If Eddie isn’t around his wife, there’s no proving it, all he has to do is wear his wedding ring and say he loves his wife. It’s effortless.
In the novel as well, there’s an obvious comparison to Eddie early on, before we even meet him, and that character is none other than Adrian Mellon. Adrian is described to be a small, asthmatic, gay boy, and more than that, his boyfriend even calls him “my love,” on page 27, the way Richie does to Eddie several times. I’m not trying to sway this towards Reddie because that’s not the point here, but teasing or not, Richie calls him that and King is an author, he knows that writing Adrian and his boyfriend the same way he writes Richie and Eddie will be read the same way. On the subject of nicknames, in the novel Eddie also calls Myra “Marty” which is very clearly not a female name. Of course nicknames are often not related to the gender of who they name but nonetheless, this is an odd little bit that King includes.
One argument that could be stated is that Eddie had a crush on Greta Bowie in the novel, but if you read the section that mentions his crush, you can see some obvious queer coding. The novel reads, “He fell in love with her a little that day- her shining blonde hair falling to her the shoulders of her culotte dress, which was a cool blue.” (525, King). Now just reading through this it may just seem like a child’s crush, but from a gay person’s perspective, it reads very clearly of internalized homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality. At no point in the following paragraph does he note anything about her other than her looks. Of course he’s 11 and falling in love at 11 is never real and doesn’t ever base itself on personality, but nonetheless, adult him is the one telling us this, and at no point does he ever mention anything but her looks. He also describes a man one page later and does so in much more glittering language than the girl he’s meant to love. “Tony Tracker, large but somehow ghostlike, his white shirt glimmering as summer dusk drew down and fireflies began to loom the air with their lace of lights…” (526, King). Of course everyone will interpret this differently, but from a gay perspective, that’s gay.
Keeping with the theme of the novel, we’ll need to take a look at Eddie’s biggest fear as well. The first time he encounter’s Pennywise he sees a leper offering him a blowjob. This obviously feeds into his fear of germs, but if we look deeper we can see clear parallels to being gay, even excluding the blowjob commentary. The novel is set both in the 50’s and late 70’s, both of which did not view gay people very well. Sonia Kaspbrak is shown to be homophobic as well when she states “‘Any two men who bother keeping a house so nice must be queers.” (525, King) and Eddie isn’t dumb, he knows what that means and he can read that it isn’t good. Being gay at the time was often viewed as a sickness, something that wasn’t born with you and could be cured with conversion therapy and it was likely that he knew that and internalized it along with his other fear of germs and sickness. The leper is clearly illness, but it’s so much more.
And completing our condensed queer coding from the novel, we finish with Eddie’s death. He ends with his classic closing words, “‘Don’t call me Eds,’ he said, and smiled. He raised his left hand slowly and touched Richie’s cheek. Richie was crying. ‘You know I…I…’ Eddie closed his eyes, thinking how to finish and while he was still thinking it over he died.” (1024, King). Of course this could be interpreted as him continuing with his “Don’t call me that you know how I hate that,” which he repeats several times throughout the novel, and it has several times, but it’s so clear if you read it that that’s not what it’s intended to read as. If he has said several times “You know how I hate that,” he wouldn’t have to think, just like Myra, it would be a habit, King wouldn’t repeat that he was thinking twice, there would be now need. Before he even says his last words, King says, “But there was something else he had to say first.” I’ve seen enough romantic movies to know what that means.
To continue we’ll discuss the 1990 miniseries’ interpretation of Eddie, both child and adult. The child Eddie is a little harder to pinpoint specific queer coded moments as much of the novel was cut out and toned down for a family audience, but the most obvious thing is in his fear, just like the novel. He fears showering with the other boys, and if that isn’t the biggest gay mood, I don’t know what is. Not only that, but when Pennywise taunts him in the showers, it’s with the insult “Girly-boy.” The actor playing child Eddie isn’t particularly feminine looking either, just a bit skinny and this is clearly meant to show something more.
It’s much easier to notice with Dennis Christopher’s Eddie Kaspbrak. Not only is he physically a little more gay coded, affectionately called “the world’s oldest twink” by yours truly, but the way he speaks is somewhat stereotypically gay as well. Ian Scott Todd of Primalscenes.blogspot.com has already written a great piece on Dennis Christopher’s portrayal of Eddie Kaspbrak and the gay coding there as he states,
“Near the end, the film gives Eddie perhaps the closest thing to a coming-out scene that it can imagine (and it’s more than King is able to do in the book, in which the scene doesn’t exist).  As Eddie and his friends are about to enter the lair of It for the second time, he confesses to them that he’s a virgin.  “I could never sleep with somebody I didn’t love,” he explains tearfully, “and I’ve never really loved anyone…except you guys.”  The ambiguity here seems typical of the historical moment at which the film was made; Eddie doesn’t identify himself as gay, and yet he reveals himself to have been harboring a deeply personal sexual secret about which he has lied (in an earlier scene he claimed to be in a relationship with a woman).  Even if the film can’t come out and say what it means any more than Eddie can, that it gives him that moment—and that his friends respond by rallying around him with their support—feels significant.  For a miniseries made for network TV in 1990, that’s something.”
He said it better than I ever could so please go read the rest of his piece if you want to focus in on the 1990 interpretation- http://primalscenes.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-homosexual-in-text-dennis.html
But I have to wonder if this is where many of the Ace!Eddie hc’s come from.
To finish up our look into Eddie Kaspbrak, we’ll look at the 2017 film’s portrayal of him. Eddie in 2017 is much feistier than his earlier counterparts, almost equaling out to Adrian Mellon at times in the way he speaks. He isn’t given a crush in this version, and unlike the other two, there isn’t an adult version of him just yet, but the child is more than enough.
First of all, his shorts had a rainbow on them, thanks for that costume department, I see you and I love you. But similar to the first two, the story is set in a time that isn’t exactly friendly to the gay community, as Eddie himself mentions when he brings up the AIDS crisis when the Losers are helping Ben. This isn’t a direct call out to him being gay but if we consider the context of him learning about that, it’s interesting. His mother was his source of information about HIV/AIDS as he makes clear when he talks about his mom’s friend in New York who got AIDS blood from a hangnail, showing that they’ve spoken about this in the past. I find this interesting as my parents never brought up anything relating back to homosexuality with me ever in my life unless it was in relation to something said at church. I’m not saying that Sonia Kaspbrak assumes her son is gay, but considering the implications of that talk I wonder. She could have easily said to him to avoid blood because of the whole thing as that’s how the infection starts, but part of me doubts that. Based on her characterization in the novel it’s likely that she brought up “the queers” and told Eddie about the whole thing. Obviously I have no evidence to back this up and am only speculating, but nonetheless, I stand behind this.
Honestly I don’t have much to work with based on the 2017 film other than the fact that as a gay, I found Eddie familiar even if I didn’t fully remember the originally movie and novel. Eddie felt like me and it’s not just his personality but it’s something deeper.
Stephen King wrote his way around Eddie’s sexuality, avoiding the question as much as possible, and ABC gave Eddie something King never did, even if he didn’t get to come out as gay. But listen, Eddie Kaspbrak is gay.
