Our concept for our flat mag was about the idea of collections; the psychology of collecting and why we find fascination in collections. We originally thought of making a museum like layout but found that it would be hard to accommodate with only two colours. We fell upon the idea of making the layout as a desk and shelves which can relate to how collections make their way into our everyday lives. After starting to create this layout we found the dimensions and scale difficult to create.

Feedback was very helpful in during the process and in our week 11 presentations which we took under consideration before printing.

Overall we are very pleased with the outcome.

This week's activity was to create a personal logo using type and/or illustrations. Using my love of books I created a simple logo that represents this using a self drawn font and drawn book. The logo works with black and white as well as a colour version.

This activity was to create a mag cover using mostly text that is original. I used Chris Hemsworth as my main feature for the magazine and drew the alphabet in a unique way. Using layers assisted in creating a clean and sophisticated magazine look.

This week we were to create a horror movie inspired tshirt. I chose the movie Split. I created a box for all of his personalities, the stick figure and the text in Illustrator. I then transferred the text and boxes onto a t shirt template in Photoshop.

This week I used multiple applications in conjunction with each other. I used Illustrator to create the divide shape, Photoshop to crop out Ed’s faces, Indesign to create the ‘Book Cover’ layout and photoshop again to create the background.

This is my advertisement for my magazine called ‘The Wandering Eye’. I used Bridge to edit my photos,  Photoshop to compose the image and Indesign to create the composition for the ad.

I am very happy with the final result of my calendar. It is consistent but varies and is visually appealing and functional.

This is my photography plan for my calendar. On the 18th of August I travelled to Jimmy's Beach but could not travel to Little Beach due to time constraints and the fire at Salt Ash.

I took a few at Newcastle the next day at sunrise to compare the time of day in the past photograph and the present.

On Wednesday the 22nd August I had a full day of shooting at locations that were local. I started at sunrise and went on to the afternoon. Most of the photographs worked which I was very happy with.

After the feedback discussion I realised that my layout needed adjusting as it was crowded. I spent some time experiencing with the layout to make it more readable and to keep the photograph the main priority. The top left corner is the layout I am going for in my calendar as it keeps the photograph the main focus as the calendar part is semi-separate and filled in.

Idea Generation involved me thinking of ideas that were realistic for me to be able to create and that related to the theme of time. I had many ideas and most of them I was not 100% happy with until I discovered my photography comparing idea.

My calendar concept is Then versus Now; a photography based calendar using a photograph within a photo to represent the change in the location or the change in time.
