V

Varies essays. During my life of literacy I have had to write and write so many essays. I have never actually liked writing essays. Essays have never been one of my favorite things to do. I hate when the teacher even says the word essay. Having to write essays have improved my writing on a different level. Doing something I didn't like helped me improve in the long run. Even though I didn't like the essay it was worth learning. I writing would of never improved with it.

Knowledge comes with reading. Reading has given me the knowledge to do other things such as, comprehend, read better, and become a smarter individual. I’ m thankful for the knowledge for that good literacy has given me. When you have good literacy you also have a advantage when it comes to worldly issues. Things like getting a job, filing taxes, and simply forming a email.

journal writing. I enjoy writing down my thoughts about what comes to mind during the days. Expressing my feelings at the end of the day keeps me at ease and I get to see how my brain grows and how I change. I also see the drastic change in the maturity of my writing. This leads me to new beginnings and I can see how I can approve on life. Journal writing has put me in good area and helped me improve on my writing.

U

U-Under pressure writing. May sound crazy but, I do my best writing under pressure. Last minute writing is my strong place. Growing up I have always been a great writer. Writing seems to come easy to me. That is my advantage. When I type up a paper when I only have thirty minutes to complete it that will more than likely be my best writing. My thoughts are flowing and I have quick thoughts off the brain. Allowing me to go with my first mind. Going with my first mind is usually best for me. It is where my best work is. My first mind is so different from my actually thought process. My papers and literacy have been successful because of this.

P

P-Edgar Allen Poe. Poe is a legendary writer. He is one of my favorites. His writing has a dark meaning behind it. Which in some way I feel time to time. His writing his writing is very good. He keeps the reader on his toes the with his suspense and action. He leads you to think one thing is happening when really it is the other thing. My first time reader his writing I could not understand it. I had to have someone explain to me what really was going on. His writing prepared me for other books similar to his. Now I can understand more books.

E

E-English. English is literacy. Literacy is English. You can have one without the other. English is my life basically. I speak it and use it everyday of my life. I don't think a day of life will past without me using English. If I am not speaking then I will be using it. Grammar is used in important areas of my life. From getting jobs to everyday talking. I don't anyone goes without using some type of form of English. Every single day English will be in the life of an American. English is an important part of my life because I live and breathe it. Born and raised in it. Never went a day without it and it is for sure literacy.

W

W-Wrote to an author. Writing to a author was a important in my literacy it was inspiring me to do more. He wrote me back and explain how to make my writing better. He explain that to make my writing better I have to expand my mind. This made want to learn more about expanding my mind. It awaking some feeling I didn't know I had. This made me take another route with my literacy and writing and get more experience. I was glad I wrote to him because it made me transition from this basic reader to this want to read and gain more knowledge reader.

Q

Q-Quit Reading, At one point in my life I quit reading. Reading became so boring at one point. I didn't want to see a book. I was in a funk with reading. This was a negative turn in my literacy. As of when I could've been improving in my literacy. My literacy was decreasing. This was important cause after I started to notice it drove me to read more to be more prepared for the next step of literacy. When I quit reading it was bad but it woke me up in another way. It made me start from the beginning again. It made realize reading and improving my literacy is important.

N

N-Never made an A on a paper. Starting from the bottom in elementary school. I wasn't familiar with writing. Around them days I practiced how to form paragraphs and it come very easy to me. Surely papers should come easy. All a paper/essay is just 5 paragraphs. Being a master at forming paragraphs I would be able to write a paper. As time moved on through middle school and high school I could never get an A on a paper. Even though I would put my all into the paper I just couldn't make an A. Now that I am in college I pray that I can get an A on a paper. At least one paper.

F

F-F. Scott Fitzgerald. He is a more popular author. I love multiple of his books and every single one has me engaged. This guy is an icon in my opinion. It is important that he is great because I not a person who likes to read. Reading his books are making me like to read. For example, before his book "The Great Gatsby" I hated to even put my head in a book. After reading that book my thought for books actually changed. I wanted to read more books like his. This all started with Fitzgerald. Introducing me to that book. F. Scott Fitzgerald was alive during and important time. The Jazz Age. This makes him more of an icon to me.

H

H-The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a great series of books. This is important to my literacy because it was the first series of books I have ever read. The first book was so good I had to read the next one. I had never read a book as big as that one either until I decided to read the first book. I wanted to read the book so bad but was scared to. I was thinking it was to big for me to finish. I was thinking I would lose interest after the first chapter cause the book was so long. It turns out I could handle it. I could not stop reading it. It prepared me for other long books also. Just remembering that I once read a book as big as that one. No it is not that big. It was a big book for me. Which makes this an accomplishment in my literacy. This is why this is an important milestone in my literacy.

L

L-lyrics. Music is a really big part of my literacy. I love music so going back and looking at the lyrics is always apart of it. Some rappers or singers use some big words. Seeing the big word prepares me for another time of see the word maybe in a book or in subtitles. Seeing words you do not know is a bonus. Maybe next time you see the word you will remember it from the song. You will remember how it was used in the context of the song and be able to comprehend how it is used in another form. What I do personally is when I read the words in the lyrics that I do not know I will google the word. Googling words help me remember the word for a later time. This is why lyrics are important for my literacy. It helps me possibly gain knowledge from the new words.

I-Into the Wild. Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer is a great book. This book is such an amazing book. This book would open my eyes to a guy who wants to travel the world. This guy in the book I can relate to well. He travels so far to die but his courage and boldness is amazing. This would show me that I would like to have this boldness and courage about myself. I use to want to travel exactly like the guy in the book. He is a live on edge guy. I want to be that live on edge guy. This book made me have interest in more books like that one. Which would expand my literacy.

C-The Cat In The Hat. This book is a starter for me. Just like the other books are this book is one of the majors. This book and I go way back. This is a big deal in my life. This book is one of the first I have ever read. It put me on the right track. Learning how to read was important and this book taught me a lot. Remembering ever rhyming scheme in the book and catching on to the pattern. Showing me how to read. I recommend this book to any beginner reader. This book is a great start to the life of reading for anyone. It has everything in it that a beginner needs. It is an easy read. Easy for the young mind to comprehend. Once again this was important to me it could be important to someone else.

T-The Great Gatsby. This book was written in a different English. Reading this opened my eyes to something different in book readings. In the book it reveals a good message and lesson. Reading this other English helps me recognize others and comprehend it in other books or readings. That book turned over a new leaf in my education with literacy. Now I can read other things and understand them. Just because I read one book. This one book made a change in what I see if I was to read another book like this. This book is important to my literacy life.

B-Books. Different books help get to where I am today. Certain books encouraged me to keep on moving to the next level of reading. Keeping me in front of others. Keeping me on my toes. Different books gave me different experiences. The books take me to new places. This expanded my knowledge. This made my vocabulary ready for the next level of school. This showed me the world without going into the world. Books made me smarter. Books carried me to different places. Books made me understand other stuff in other educational areas. It helped me be able to comprehend things different.

A-Alphabiographies. Learning about alphabiographies is a first time thing for me. This is another step of literacy in my life. Yes, I personally think that it is crazy. It is something new to me. I am taking it and deciding to run with it. This is making smarter by expanding my literacy. It is also reminding me of how I started. Pulling me back into my roots. Showing how I started and how I should finish. Maybe this is not the worst this is not the worst assignment. It is just something new. Something to expand my mind and thinking in English. Showing me something new. Hearing something new. It is different but different is not bad. It is growth. I have never heard of this until my teacher Ms. Jones showed me and this assignment that I thought was pointless is blowing me.
