Enbridge, the largest pipeline company in North America is trying to build a pipeline through Anishinaabeg territories in Minnesota.

Enbridge’s Line 3 oil pipeline is proposed to transport tar sands oil over 1000 miles, from Hardisty, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin, through the heart of Anishinaabe territory and some of the most pristine lakes and sacred wild rice beds in the world.

The proposed new route endangers the Great Lakes, home to one fifth of the world’s fresh water, and some of the most delicate soils, aquifers and pristine lakes in northern Minnesota, It also threatens critical resources on Ojibwe treaty lands, where tribal members retain the rights to hunt, fish, gather, hold ceremony, and travel. It is our responsibility as water protectors to prevent this. Tribal governments, environmental organizations, and community members are uniting to stop Line 3. We expect a protracted legal and regulatory battle in the coming years.

Solar Divination

Obvious disclaimer: don't do this, you can go blind.

No wonder the ancient oracles stared into the sun to sacrifice their physical vision for such extraordinary prophecies. I had never stumbled upon this subreddit before, I needed to write about what just happened and here is where I decide to put it. Today, Helios reflected back at me through my mirror, I was entranced with the rays hitting my skin, I was only looking in his direction for a picture of my eyes, but something pulled to actually look Luckily I didn't look too long, but I looked long enough for it to hurt, I looked away and looked back and I couldn't it hurt too much. But Something in me said look again and I did. It didn't hurt my eyes anymore, I was crying, whether because of the light or awe, I don't know. It's so mesmerizing, I looked away and back a few more times and then I stared. Helios had a set of three more suns on each side, not straight out, kind of curved. it was darker in the middle - probably due to the creeping damage to the cones in my eyes (what absorbs light through your lids that triggers your brain to wake in the morning and are located in the fovea, basically the center of your vision and what absorbs the most light) - with a ring around it, looked like an eclipse really. I couldn't stop looking, my partner had to pull me away. I closed my eyes and covered them to make sure it was as dark as could be and all I could see was a bright, bright, white circle in the middle (center of vision) and that's when I saw a mushroom cloud, obvious billowing, as it faded, two more smaller clouds. This then morphed quickly into the North and South American continents, it reminded me of the Earth emoji but less bubbly? Sharper edges, almost like a globe map. After it morphed into what I could make out as cartoon-y human hands reaching out from the top left of the circle and a similarly looking giraffe coming up from the bottom right of the circle. I am not new to divination, but I mostly stick to smoke, fire, crystal gazing, tarot, the classic common quad, but something pulled me to keep looking. The bright light is gone and my eyesight restored to normality as I did not look too long and did not look consistently. Nothing is set in stone, maybe it was just my fovea repairing themselves, my brain protecting my optic nerve when I saw those images, my cornea refracting the intense light and cause the sun to triplicate on both sides like that, but it definitely scared me.

I am lucky Helios, Apollo, and Ra, did not deem it time to take my sight.

Hekatean Witchcraft Curse

This is a curse that’s built on some themes and archetypes in Hellenic and Hellenistic depictions of witchcraft in literature. It calls on the aid of Hekate Brimo, Kirke, and Medea. This is a curse, which carries with it all the usual warnings for curses. Perform at your own discretion. Many of these ingredients are poisonous, do not ingest any part of this spell. This is what I’d use if you really want to mess someone up. Casting a circle may be a good idea for this spell.

 For this spell you will need the following:

-Three black taper or pillar candles, preferably around 9 inches

-Dark arts or crossing/cursing oil

-A cauldron or bowl filled with boiling water

-Offerings to Hekate, Kirke, and Medea

-A mixture of herbs: yew, mayapple, foxglove, black pepper, black mustard seeds, poppy seeds, wormwood, and if you can get your hands on them, aconite and European mandrake

-Animal parts: black dog hair, snake skin, and if you can get them, coyote, fox, or wolf bones

-A poppet, along with black or red cord

-3 pins

-Any personal artifacts of your target (hair, nail clippings, clothes, jewelry, etc.)

Begin by adorning the working space with the black candles behind the cauldron. Dress the three candles with the oil. Light one and invoke the Goddess Hekate:

“Hekate Brimo, I invoke thee. Dread Goddess of the Underworld and Queen of Witches, I light this flame in your honor. Attend to my workings and wreak my vengeance upon (name of target)!”

Light the next candle and invoke Kirke:

“Kirke, Great Witch of Aiaia, I invoke thee. Mistress of Transformation and Truth, I light this flame in your honor. Attend to my workings and wreak my vengeance upon (name of target)!”

Light the final candle and invoke Medea:

“Medea, Great Witch-Priestess of Colchis, I invoke thee. Giant-Slayer, Mistress of Poisons, I light this flame in your honor. Attend to my workings and wreak my vengeance upon (name of target)!”

Place your offerings on the altar and say:

“Great Mistresses of Magic, I place before you these offerings and these flames in supplication. Grant to me your aid on this night and bring forth that which I ask of you!”

Place the herbs and animal parts for the spell on the altar and say the following with your hands over them:

“Three times I bless these herbs and poisons. Once in the name of Hekate, once in the name of Kirke, and once in the name of Medea. Thrice blessed are these poisons which I brew, and thrice cursed is (name of target)”

Sprinkle the herbs and animal parts into the cauldron, stirring them counter-clockwise. Then, take the poppet and bind it three times with the cord. Once around the head, once around the arms and midsection, and once around the legs. Then say:

“Thrice I bind you (name of target). Once in the name of Hekate, once in the name of Kirke, and once in the name of Medea.”

Sit back before the altar and say the following, each line inserting a pin into the poppet:

“I call on Hekate Brimo, Terrifying One, bring your infernal vengeance down onto my enemy. Strike (name of target) on this night, and let loose your spirits of Hades upon them.

I call on Kirke, Daughter of the Sun, let all see (name of target) as the beast they are. As you sought to punish Skylla, show no mercy to my enemy and bring forth my revenge.

I call on Medea, Bringer of Vengeance and Justice, lend these poisons your aid and bring your curse upon my enemy. As you tore down Jason for his unforgivable transgressions, tear down (name of target) on this night.”

Drop the poppet into the cauldron along with any personal artifacts of your target. Then say:

“Thrice are you bound, thrice are you cursed, and thrice is my will worked upon you. In the names of the Goddess Hekate, Kirke, and Medea, may (name of target) know my wrath.”

After the ritual is done, let the candles burn and the potion sit. Once the candles have burned out, remove the poppet from the brew and dump the potion onto your enemy’s property, a place you know they will cross, or at a crossroads. The poppet can either be disposed of in the same manner or buried (not on your property though). Both before and after the ritual, and after the disposal of the ingredients, cleanse and protect yourself.

Oxymels and Fire Cider

If you are in the northern hemisphere, you are probably going through the cooler seasons, I know here in PA we are. I am enjoying the cool air after such a hot summer, my ghost peppers dropped so many blooms even in the shade! But I wanted to share my fire cider recipe here!

1/2 Cup+ grated horseradish (thanks mom!) 1/2 Cup+ chopped onions 1/4 Cup+ chopped and bruised garlic 1/4 Cup+ grated ginger 1 tbsp ground tumeric 2 tbsp dandelion root - dried 5 deseeded and chopped ghost peppers (you heard me right) Elderberries (I eyeballed it and used dried elderberries) Lemon Thyme - home grown Sage - home grown Lemon with peel thinly sliced 1/2 large grapefruit with peel thinly sliced 1 cup pickle brine Fill rest of container with Apple Cider Vinegar

Store in dark spot and shake daily for 2-3 weeks or longer. Let infuse for month or longer.

Once done, you can take as is or mix in honey to make an oxymel that is easier to down. For cough syrup, 1 part vinegar 2 parts honey - take tablespoon each hour or more as needed.

Apollo Prayer Beads

Recently, I have finally sorted through all my odds and ends beads, some of which have been with me for almost 20 years. Glad they could come in handy for this! Here’s what I have made for the prayers for the beads. Most of it is from the prayer on the back of the prayer card. Card from WyrdCuriosities

PENDANT PRAYER:

Lord of Purity and Awakening, guide me in all that I do, that my actions may be worthy in your eyes. If I offend thee, for which I will never strive, forgive me. Devotional Items

Two quick things to share, since I have really missed the ritualistic and routineness of prayer cards, daily devotional books, and rosaries. My husband got me a pagan prayer book that has really helped me start to build a devotional book that fits me. I’m still working on it, but eventually I do hope to have a collection that’s organized and helps with building a routine.

Same with prayer beads, after looking into the multiple cultures who utilize them (and my slight over-obsession with beads, string, and shiny things) I have made a couple of my own and plan on making more. So far I have 4, one for Apollo, Juno, one for both Hekate and Asteria, and one for Venus and Aphrodite as well. They’re just some hemp cord and beads with lots of knots!

For prayer cards, recently, I have found a shop that scratches that itch on Etsy, WyrdCuriosities. The shop features currently 357 prayer cards among other items. I still haven’t finished combing through but I seriously recommend them to anyone looking to add devotional items, especially ex-catholics or catholic/christian polytheists who have other deities as well! Beautiful art on one side and an amazing prayer on the other side as well.

Body Fluids - Blood Magick & the Like

Magick is internal, I already knew this. 

Blood magick and other workings done with body fluid are using internal fluids to add coatings and mixins to external things, adding our person and being to an object or spell. I got quite woozy using a regular hat needle. I would like to invest in some lancets, maybe create an update to this entry, but for now I will be journaling my first blood magick session. It was quite basic, and straight forward: Bless my lithomancy stones with my blood to bind them to me. I pricked four out of my ten fingers, the two middle of each hand. It was the most pitiful thing, and each felt like the world's tiniest bubble wrap when it broke the first later. Filled my heart with a millisecond of child-like curiosity before the lightheadedness and nausea set in, fought through it and never laid down. I did kneel and sit for a little while though and I prayed to Hekate and Juno. But they bled enough for me to bless everything, even the candle, I also squeezed out a little extra to bless a worry stone and a quartz. 

Any fluid will do, but I feel different fluids of the body have different strengths, while all are excellent at representing me, as well as being a great way to add raw, directed, personal energy, and extra oomph, each has a specific aspect in magickal workings and aspects in nature.

Semen/Vaginal Fluid - Great for sex, fertility, and love spells. Also great for hexes regarding impotence in men and infertility.

Menstrual Blood - Great for moon spells and renewal spells. Also a keen addition to spells about discarding things no longer useful to you - see: burning the leftovers. Personally found the most powerful “batch” to be from the first menstruation after giving birth.

Urine/Spit - Great add-ins for every hex; it is the most simplistic, spiteful, addition to venom/hex jars, adds toxicity. Spit is also useful in ancestral work - see:Blood

Blood - Best add in to poppets of yourself or people you are bound to, great for general personal “oomph” to a spell. Also great for adding to Id feeding spells. Weight Loss, glamours, financial increase, raw “I want and I need” ideology. Blood has multiple life giving uses, this is why I personally feel drawn to use it in binding work. Spit and Blood are also both useful in ancestral work - see:Spit

Fertility Spell Jar

Combine in a jar the following ingredients, all of which represent healing and fertility:

Sun Oil - Sunflower oil, sunflower petals, pollen from sun flower mixed while oil is warm, remove petals and let cool. Sunflower Oil  Lavender Oil One Acorn  One pinch of Anise One pinch of Mugwort One pinch of Lavender One juniper berry dried Quartz - healing

Seal the jar with green and white candle wax

     Green to represent growth, fertility, health      White to represent protection and health

If you have a Gaia pendant, ring, or talisman, press into wax while cooled but still malleable to leave indentation for blessings of fertility.

     Additionally you can add rose quartz or moonstone, both for health, love, and fertility, moon stone additionally for the power of the moon and the lunar goddess blessing the womb.      Brown candle for earth representation, goes hand in hand with green candle; growth and fertility.

Positivity Spell Jar

Wet ingredients:

20 drops Sun oil

Homemade oil made with sunflower oil, sunflower petals, and pollen from sunflowers - for honesty, also to channel Sol or other Sun deities.

20 drops Lavender oil

This is for peace, protection, love, purification, and clarity of thought

2 parts Protection oil

Homemade oil mixture for protection, can be any oil or oil mixture of choice

2 parts Frankincense oil

Emotional regulation, serenity

Dry ingredients (no measurements, whatever you feel is right)

Lavender flowers - see: Lavender Oil

Sprig of Rosemary

Cleansing, strength, protection. Also gives the Sunoil additional oomph, honors sun deities as well.

Kyanite fragments

Better communication skills, cleansing. Also used to keep the spell cleansed, “self cleaning” crystal.

Quartz fragments

Healing, anchors the spirit to the body

Combine in a jar of choice, seal with wax: purple, black, white, finish with yellow.

Purple: Emotional balance, wisdom Black: Banishment of negative energy and people White: protection, purification Yellow: Joy, happiness, focus, and intuition

Charge in the sun

- Keep on/in nightstand for more positive dreams. - Keep in medicine cabinet or on kitchen sink for more positive self image - Keep in car to reduce road rage - Keep with yourself for a more general overall positive attitude
