Problems with music selection
Samarth and I were trying to create a sound design for our immersive experience, but audio selection was a challenge, due to copyright issues a lot of the music we thought was appropriate couldn't be used, and we also didn't have a lot of experience in sound manipulation, eventually we found a website that searched for free music rights through AI.
In the search window type: cosmos
The following results are obtained:
Tumblr media
As well as finding some music available on yutube without copyright issues.
Hans Zimmer (Interstellar Main Theme) - Space 4k - no copyright Interstaller inspired Music (youtube.com)

Storyboarding:
After we decided to combine the cut-out style with the realistic style, we decided to use a storyboard to quickly draw the scene we were going to make first.
So I started drawing the storyboard, which was different from the one I had drawn in the first term, because a normal film screen is rectangular, while the vault of this immersive project is half a sphere, so I decided to use a circle as the overall composition to start drawing the storyboard.
At the same time, I looked for a lot of references to the papercut style.
Below is my storyboard for the introduction of the cut paper style to the realistic style for the beginning.
Tumblr media
Here is my storyboard for the return to the papercut style at the end.
Tumblr media
Below is my concept art for the papercut style.
Tumblr media
After the concept art, I broke down the elements of the concept art and worked with Samarth to create 2D mapping assets like meteors, planets, black holes, etc.

Creating a workflow and assigning group tasks
Since our group consisted of five people from different disciplines, we divided the tasks between us. Samarth and I were from concept design and animation respectively, so we were mainly responsible for the 2D part of the project. The other three members of our team, Pranay, Nidhi and Nikol, were from the Game Design programme and were mainly responsible for the 3D part of the project.
After pitching our idea to tutors we all agreed that the paper cut-out style was an interesting design idea, so we decided to combine the spaceship idea with the paper cut-out style and use the paper cut-out style as the beginning and end of our immersive video.
We imagined our spaceship travelling through the cut-out universe like a fairy tale book, flying into a realistic universe and eventually being sucked into a black hole.

How to communicate with group members
After the "Protecting Eggs Experiment" collaboration, our group found the most efficient way to work together and we created a server called group6 on Discord.
The Discord server was a great help in improving our team's communication efficiency. We have created several text channels on the group6 server: #general, #useful-links, #2d, #3d, and so on, so that our team members can efficiently categorise and upload the links and assets that are helpful to the project.
Tumblr media
We also had several video conferences on the Discord server to discuss the final theme of the project, and in the end we chose three different themes, which were
1. a space travel theme;
2. a submarine under the sea theme;
3. a children's paper cut-out style theme;
In the end, we decided to use Unreal Engine 5 to create all the scenes.

Egg Protection Experiment and Personality Test
Group Co-operation and Personality Test, Mr Ian divided all the students into 17 groups and tried to get the group members to start co-operating in class without knowing each other very well, we had two interesting small projects in class, namely "Paper Cutting Experiment" and "Protecting Eggs Experiment"The most interesting project was the "egg protection experiment", where we used two pieces of paper, two balloons, string and tape to make a device to protect an egg without breaking it, and threw it through a window.  Our group decided to use the two balloons as protective cushions, which successfully protected the eggs and allowed us to get to know each other during the experiment.
Before the class everyone was asked to take personality tests, this was my first time taking a personality test, I got the result (INTJ-A) also known as Assertive Architect personality, with pioneering spirit, both the most daring dreamer and the most painful sadist.
Tumblr media
This brings me back to the teamwork involved in protecting the eggs, which also demonstrated some of my risk-taking personality traits, as I persuaded the group to use a paper aeroplane as a flying machine to protect the eggs, but in the end the paper aeroplane didn't fly because the eggs were too heavy. Luckily our eggs didn't break because of the balloon's protection.

Brainstorming: After consulting with my group mates, we started searching the internet for some existing examples of interesting immersive experiences.
In the process of searching for immersive experiences on the internet, I found that most immersive experiences are artistic or entertaining, such as some of the entertainment at Disneyland and Universal Studios where the audience can play.
Take the following entertainment at Disney's Hollywood Studios as an example:
youtube
THE DARING FLIGHT-MILLENNIUM is an immersive entertainment experience. High-definition projectors recreate the scenery outside the windows of the ship.
And here's an interesting example of combining high-quality projections with the dining experience.
youtube
and Outernet London's Butterfly Trail project, which uses the latest digital technologies to create large-scale public experiences.
youtube
These are some of the most interesting immersive experiences I've come across so far, and after sifting through them we decided that Disneyland's Millennium Falcon project was the most in line with the design of this dome project and worth learning from.
