Homemade Ricotta...September 7, 2020
Steve and I have done so much research the past few weeks to come up with a protocol that will keep our #caleegirl healthy, strong and happy! This past week we have implemented lots of new supplements and concoctions and Calee has been a champ and is eating/drinking it all! We did LOTS of meal prepping this weekend to make sure her body is being nourished with the best ingredients and fighting off those nasty cancer cells! Calee is back to her old playful, silly self which is all the signs we need! Thank you to everyone who has offered support, guidance, recommendations, love and prayers these past 2 months! Snuggles...August 29, 2020

The Dreaded “C” Word...August 24,2020
How pretty in pink does our #caleegirl look? This beautiful girl is so brave and strong and we *NEED* her to be okay! Universe, do you hear me? Please heal and take care of our baby girl. Cancer sucks...in humans, in animals, and everyone it effects! I went numb when we received the biopsy results and heard the words "malignant tumor" and my heart broke into a million tiny pieces. This is not just a dog, this is our child, a member of our family, our baby girl! These past 6 weeks have been horrible with so many uncertainties and we still do not have all the answers but today, our fight begins to help you heal, to find a holistic treatment that will give you the BEST quality of life, to boost your immune system and to love and cherish every second with you! On the Road to Recovery August 20, 2020
Today was a good day! #caleegirl is doing great and getting stronger every day! She is more playful and wanting to run with her big sissy. That has been the biggest challenge, keeping her calm and not letting her run and chase after Harper & Edward. Another night on the couch with Mommy, although one of us didn’t seem to mind since as she made herself quite comfy!

Recovery Mode
August 19, 2020
#caleegirl and Mommy survived night 1 on the couch in the living room. Our bed is pretty high and she would need to go up a flight of stairs so it was best to keep her downstairs on one level. We still tried to get her to use the stairs to avoid her from jumping on the couch but that did not work out too well. Luckily the couch was low and she let us pick her up...sometimes! 🤦♀️
Calee was still pretty out of it all day but she was really good about taking her meds and she ate her food and went out to go to the bathroom. We put a t-shirt on Calee so she didn't bother her staples and so she didn't have the wear the big cone of shame! Calee spent most of the day sleeping with her new toy and her big sissy, laying by her side.
Today was our niece’s 6th birthday so only I went into Staten Island to celebrate while Daddy stayed home and took care of #caleegirl. Daddy slept with her downstairs until I got home and then upstairs to bed Daddy went since he went back to work the next day!

Home Sweet Home August 18, 2020
Dr. Bonczyski called us first thing in the morning as she began her rounds and said Calee was doing excellent and that she can come home this afternoon. By now she knows me so well that she said pick up starts at noon so I suspect you will be here by 12:01pm the latest? ;) ABSOLUTELY! We packed up a new toy for our #caleegirl and were there at 12pm sharp to pick her up!
Calee was pretty out of it when we picked her up, she walked out shaved, half her body covered in staples and the giant cone on her head. My heart literally broke when I saw her but she was so strong and was excited to see us too! We were grateful that we were able to bring our little warrior HOME!
Thank you everyone for all the prayers and well wishes, we appreciate every single one of them! Please continue to keep #caleegirl in your prayers while she recovers and while we wait for the biopsy results! Another 5-7 days of waiting began. But for now, on the agenda was extra snuggles and TLC. Calee didn’t put down her new toy, she ate some food, slept with it and was welcomed with LOTS of kisses and licks from Edward and Harper! Big Sissy, Harper literally did not take her eyes of #caleegirl! We love you #caleegirl! 💜🙏🐕

Post Op Update
August 17, 2020
Our little warrior, #caleegirl hanging tough!! Calee’s surgery went well and they removed the mass (about the size of a plum) that was encapsulated in her ribs. Dr. Bonczyski had to remove parts of 3 of her ribs to remove it but she said Calee won’t even know the difference! We are so grateful to the AMAZING staff at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital who have taken such excellent care of our girl and who constantly keep us updated and send us pics since we can't be with her! We are counting down the hours until we can pick her up, even Harper and Edward miss her like crazy too! Surgery Day!
August 17, 2020
Today was the day, the day they were going to remove that nasty mass out of our #caleegirl. Dr. Bonczynski will be performing a partial rib resection for intercostal mass effect.
The drop off is the worst part, we still aren’t allowed to go inside due to COVID. Calee gets so anxious when she is around strangers and we have to walk her right up to the door so she will go inside and then she just sits there...sigh! We know she is in the best hands with Dr. Bonczynski and her team. We have not had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Bonczynski because of COVID but she has made us feel nothing but comfortable and at ease through this whole process, you can tell she genuinely cares about Calee and her wellbeing.
Calee will have to stay overnight again and hopefully we can pick her up the following afternoon! Calee is young and strong and we are confident she will get through this, her strength through this all has kept our faith strong.

T’was the Night Before Surgery
August 16, 2020
Trying to stay positive and not let #caleegirl sense my nerves! It is amazing how animals sense *EVERYTHING!* We spent the weekend just us, at home, loving up this girl! A friend let us borrow a set of pet stairs after Calee came home from the hospital when this all started but she had no interest in them. At that time, luckily she didn’t need them.
