Great, this was good. While this was something she hadn't expected to happen, he'll do. Besides, she's more than capable of handling herself when she's around someone like Leo.
Now that she had secured someone to see the fireworks with later, there wasn't really much else she had wanted to do, not until he suggests rollerskating of all things. She's not a pro by any means, but she can definitely do it.
❝ I do. Why? Did you have something else in mind that you wanted to do? ❞ She's been a little out of practice, but she should be fine.
You’ve still got it, apparently. Say anything with a smile and the right tone of voice, and voila. Not that Hikari doesn’t know what she’s getting into, of course – she’s smart, definitely, and tough all around. Two things you like plenty in a person. The higher the chance they could snap your neck (and choose not to), the more fun they are to be around.
Plus, you had to admit it was pretty chill to meet somebody you could talk about Pokemon around without getting funny looks.
“Sweet. I love fireworks myself,” you laugh, “so everything works out just right, that way.” You hadn’t known there would even be fireworks, but hey. Might as well play it cool.
“In the meantime, though… you rollerskate, by any chance?”

Riding the trains to get to her destination had become somewhat of a daily routine for Hikari. It wasn't usually crowded around this time, but there had been just a little bit more build up than usual, which caused for a slight delay in getting to board the machine. Sighing to herself, she'd thought of how impatient a certain someone would have gotten if he were here with her, he had always been like that after all. The few minutes that she had to wait would have felt like a millennia to her friend.
It's then that she's pulled away from her thoughts and brought back to reality by the loud yelling of a voice she knew all too well. At first, she can't believe it until she sees him for herself, flailing and throwing a tantrum as he usually did when things weren't moving as fast as he liked to go. And she can't help but smile and breathe a sigh of relief that it actually is Barry. Finally, someone she's familiar with after all of these months.
As she maneuvers through what little people had been blocking her path towards him, she notices a woman giving him a nasty stare and rightfully so, he'd been rude enough to yell about something that wasn't even that bad in the first place. Still, Hikari is Hikari and she's not about to let her best friend get told off. As soon as she's close enough, a hand extends forward and grabs onto his wrist, pulling him behind her. ❝ I'm sorry for him. He doesn't know any better, you'll have to excuse him. ❞ And she bows after saying this before scurrying away through the doors of the train, Barry right behind her.
❝ You really do know how to get yourself into trouble, don't you? ❞ She says, taking a seat while patting the space next to her for him to sit as well. She's smiling. ❝ Still...I'm happy to see you. I missed you so much. ❞
There it is, the mounting tension. A large group of people coagulating at the entrance to the train. Barry had made a point to get here early, but had run into some…issues. Still, he’d been told that there would definitely be no traffic like this! What was the hold up?!
Hold your tongue, Barry–his mom, stern but kind, would always say. When the urge to exclaim became too much, that was exactly when you were supposed to shut your mouth. Find a safer place, vent there. A wise man knew which battles to pick. She would probably sigh at him if she were here now, but he can’t help it. He’d waiting an entire ten (three) minutes, and the crowd wasn’t budging an inch. Barry feels his fingers itch as that familiar tenseness creeps into his chest. He gives in quickly and without much of a fight, all four of his limbs flailing.
“WHY ARE YOU ALL MOVING SO SLOW?!”
The protest is louder than actually angry, a tantrum that lasts for a total of two seconds before one beefy lady turns and gives him the mean mug of a life time. Barry swallows hard, lips pursing into a thin line to stifle any noise of weakness. He manages to not take a step backwards, but he is subtly leaning that way, as if her presence alone was enough to push him.
He makes eye contact with anyone who will offer sympathy, unsure of how to handle this. Normally he’d steel himself and face foes head on, but in light of recent events he wasn’t feeling too confident.

❝ Well that's unexpected. ❞ Almost so much that she's a little taken aback, so much that she doesn't do anything but stand there and stare at him as she tries to think about what her answer should be.
❝ A date's still a date, you know. Though I'm not exactly busy today...nor did I have any plans. Take me to see the fireworks and you've got yourself a deal. ❞
You’re feeling lucky.
“Hikari! There you are. I was actually hoping we’d run into each other.”
“Just outta curiosity – how would you feel about a date? No strings attached or anything. Just some milkshakes, maybe a go at the arcade, whatever you want. I’m bored, you might be bored too… it’s a win-win, right? Whaddya say?”

❝ I hope you prepared yourself for disappointment because you won't be receiving chocolate or getting the latter. ❞
“So, uh, Valentine’s Day – what’s that about?”
“’Cause if we’re being completely honest here, anything that has to do with chocolate and getting laid has my name all over it.”

"Yo-Kai" isn't a term that she's familiar with in the slightest and even with the small explanation that she had just received about what they were, she's still not in complete understanding of the term. So, she's come up with her own conclusion that seems to make a lot more sense.
❝ So, you're like a fancy type of ghost. ❞ The kind that doesn't hurt people, she'd like to think. And if they're "phantasmic beings" then they're kind of like Pokemon...right? Even though he just said they're nothing like them. Oh well, she's never been one to listen to the textbook definition of things to begin with. ❝ So...if I were to throw a Pokeball at you...I wonder if I'd be able to catch you regardless. ❞
Off she goes trying to poke at him again, smiling and all. It's not her fault tat he's absolutely adorable and pokeable. ❝ What's your name anyway? ❞
[ 👻 ] – Since he was normally invisible to the human eye, Whisper wasn’t used to being noticed by so many of their species. It was quite perplexing if he thought about it for too long… but currently, he was trying to distract himself from all that.
While he was poking around with his Yo-Kai Pad and muttering about the faulty web connection, he didn’t see someone else approaching who’d poke around with him instead. Recoiling from the repeated motion, he floated out of their poking radius and looked offended before their words sunk in.
“Ex-CUSE me, miss, I– …Pokémon? No, no! I’m afraid you’re quite mistaken!”
“I am a Yo-Kai! A phantasmic being that you humans would call a ‘spirit’ or ‘ghost.’ Nothing at all like a Pokémon, you see.” Not that Whisper knew what that was.

After the whole age swapping fiasco that had taken place a couple of weeks ago, it seemed the city had gone back to it's calm state, or however calm it could be in a place like this. And she's thankful for it, because finally she doesn't have to stay cooped up in her apartment anymore and she can actually go outside and get some fresh air. Plus..there were a few necessities and errands that she had to get handled, so all in all, she's more than relieved to finally be able to do so.
It's not that much of a surprise to her when she's stopped by some scruffy looking older man. He doesn't look suspicious, though. So she'll hear him out. Besides, it's not as if she doesn't have a quick moment to spare. How bad could it be? Not so bad, she thinks.
And so she turns, eyebrows raised as she looked up at him, waiting for whatever he wanted to say to her. For his sake, he'd better hope that it was worth it. While Hikari doesn't mind sparing a second to hear someone out, she certainly does mind when her time is wasted on something less important.
❝ Make it quick, please. ❞
A bit of ‘light’ dad joking (Closed - Hikari)
My, my - the strange city that he’d been in a good while now seemed to be very excited. He was relieved to see most people had finally recovered from that strange event where many folk became younger or older: though he was at the same time ashamed to admit the event had even affected him to an extent.
Then again, that had been a result of him worrying too much over statements taken the wrong way - everything had been sorted now, and he wanted to help spread the happiness. Not everyone had someone beloved to turn to in this place, after all. He, himself, knew that he was a slow mover when it came to romantic matters - he didn’t like to admit it, but he got terribly flustered with that very easily, to the point where he couldn’t even look the recipient in the eye!
So of course he wanted to ensure those who also wanted to take that matters slowly did not feel left out friendship-wise - Valentines could be shared between new friends, and not just lovers, after all! Maybe the young miss with the fancy white hat may appreciate a bad joke.
“Excuse me, miss…may I have a moment of your time?”
Here’s your chance to back away now before he tells you a bad joke, Hikari.

There are many strange creatures in this city, she has come to notice. They range from beasts to animals that are able to communicate through human language. It's a bit of a shock to her, but usually she's just curious about how exactly they work and what their world is like. This time is no different, seeing the white floating creature. She can't help but reach out and give it a gentle prod, which should be enough to get it's attention.
❝ What exactly are you? You're not some type of Pokemon, are you? ❞ She doubted the latter, but decided to ask for good measure just in case. It was oddly...very cute. And endearing. So she'll just go ahead and prod it again.

❝ I really hope you weren't thinking about touching her. ❞ She's referring to the small penguin who now clung to her leg, looking up at the much older man who had in turn began looking down at Piplup. It'd been a bad habit for people to reach out and touch without permission, so she wanted to make it very clear that it wasn't allowed to do so. The very annoyed look on her face should be enough to give him an idea of how serious she is, but it doesn't help that Piplup seems to be egging this on either by sticking it's tongue out at the other.
❝ She's sassy, you'll have to excuse her. ❞

❝ Wait a sec, just wait one sec. ❞ It's a bad habit of Hikari's to get up close and personal without knowing a person or creature in this case without knowing them too well. It's no exception this time, she takes a few moments to thoroughly observe the physiology of this...fox? Thing? She doesn't quite know what this is. Then it dawns on her that she's vaguely reminded of a Pokemon, which is what she had been trying to describe.
Having finally figured out what it is that she wants to say, Hikari stands back now and proceeds to speak. ❝ You're not some type of hybrid Lucario, are you? I mean..I can't catch you or anything like that, can I? ❞ Not like she even had the necessary tools to do so, but it doesn't do any harm in asking.

❝ Hello again, Ike. How's the whole mercenary thing going? Anything changed on that end? ❞ Okay, she's going to stop pretending like she cares about that. She'll just cut to the chase on what she wants to ask. ❝ Did you have any plans for Valentine's Day, I'm sure you do. Just thought I'd ask though. ❞

❝ Don't you get hot wearing all that armor? ❞ Okay, that was kind of a silly question considering that it's been petty cold here in the city, but you never know. And it's jut so funny to see someone walking around...in knightly armor. At least that's what she thinks he is, he seems to fit the part in the appearance after all. ❝ I mean..you're a knight, right? ❞ She probably should've asked that before she started going off at the mouth, but oh well.
❝ You sure do look like one and if you don’t have a Princess to protect, I’ll gladly fill in the role. ❞

❝ Pardon, but those robes are very beautiful. Did you have them tailored especially for yourself? ❞ It's not every day in this city that she seems someone dressed so prim and proper, after all. It'd be nice to finally be able to speak with someone that shares her tastes in clothing, which this woman probably does. And she does look pretty important...so Hikari will just go ahead and pop the question.
❝ You wouldn't happen to be someone of high importance, would you? ❞ As in nobility, she's never met nobility before, so this'll be a real treat to chat with someone of higher class if so. ❝ If so, I'd love to treat you to tea and chat if you're not horribly busy. ❞

❝ Are you two twins or something? ❞ It's a bit of a forward question, but she's found that indulging people directly often led to unique conversations all their own. Besides, they didn't seem to be too offended by it so it should be fine, she hopes. ❝ Do you by chance...finish each other's sentences? ❞ Because that's what they're supposed to do...or so she's seen on movies, not like those are ever really accurate.

Oh, it's this guy again. She'd never be able to forget the face of someone who had distinctly asked her if she owned a Clefairy. It was a bit strange, but she doesn't mind indulging him once more. In fact, she's a tad bit surprised that he's even managed to survive here with everything that had happened in the past month.
❝ Hello...Clefairy man. ❞ because that's what she's calling him now since she didn't even bother to get a name and she's not going to bother asking either. ❝ I still, unfortunately, don't have a Clefairy to show you. Have you seen any other aliens around, though? ❞

Wild Pokemon were certainly not in this city, it was nothing like home. No matter how long she had looked, how many stones she had turned, she had come to the conclusion that there was not and there never would be Pokemon here like there were back home. It was just her and her Piplup (who she had left back at her apartment) for now, which was fine..considering she'd feel vaguely worried about any Pokemon that had to endure life in a place which was very dangerous, even more dangerous than back home.
So it's an odd sight...a very odd sight to see what seems to be an Eevee lying on a park bench, but she can't bring herself to leave it be. Not with all of the dangers that lurk around every corner. And so she approaches the small creature, crouching down in front of the bench to get to eye level with it before speaking. ❝ You're an Eevee, aren't you? ❞ Upon closer inspection, yes she had been right. This was indeed a Pokemon. ❝ Would you like to come home with me? I can't imagine that lounging around in the park is comfortable considering all of the strange folk that pass through. ❞
