We’ve reached that time of the year where I just sketch lots of little guys because it’s too hot for me to think of what else to do~

I’ve been trying to write again after a long time away from it - also trying to convince myself that designing my characters is actually “writing” and not just an excuse to do anything but writing 🥲

If you want to make your backyard a safe haven for lesser dragons, you must keep a close eye on your pets. While it is unlikely that a curious kitten will be able to cause a dragon physical harm, the egos of these small wyrms are as fragile as they are beautiful.

I’ve heard that posting winged critters in July is a thing? Did I get that right? Doesn’t matter, doing it anyway. Weirdly I’ve never worked out a personal pegasus design, I always just slap big wings on a horse.

Some process shots from the recent kirin piece – I’d been feeling like I was always using the same five colored pencils for all my pieces, so I made an effort to use a few that I don’t normally. Ended up channeling Lisa Frank, which is not a bad thing.

Unlike their unicorn cousins, who tend to prize more modest coat colors and patterns, Kirins don’t mind being a little bit ~*Extra*~

Lil’ dragons to guard your hoard~ These are a sneak peak of something I’ve got planned for August – more info to come later this month!

Though unicorns don’t particularly love the sweat and itch of summer, a hot day does give them an excuse to indulge in one of their favorite activities: lazing the day away in the shade of a tree, chewing sweetgrass and listening to the insects hum.
