Matthew hesitated for a small bit before slowly shaking his head. “I... I don’t think they’ll take too kindly to me. I should just go back to the ruins of my own” he said quietly, standing on unsteady feet. He had to lean against a tree for balance as he tried to find his bearings. “It’ll be better for everyone that way”

Ludwig glared slightly, keeping an eye on Matthew with a weapon at the ready. “We were friends Matthew. Close friends”

“What am I supposed to do then? Where am I supposed to go? There’s nothing left” Matthew’s voice was barely audible, and he didn’t move, even as Ludwig walked closer. He sounded completely hopeless, unable to even raise his head. Most of his attention was on the small flower growing in front of him.

Matthew’s head rose at the newest voice and he flinched at the harsh words. His eyes dulled as more tears flowed down his face. “I...” his shoulders slumped and for a long tense moment he wavered between anger and despair before grief finally overtook him and he let out another choked sob.

“But it will stop any more from being destroyed” Matthew couldn’t help the flower that grew where his tears fell, and he touched it tenderly. “If I can prevent any more forests from being destroyed then it’s worth it”

Matthew flinched and guilt soread across his face. “I-I know” his voice cracked slightly with grief. “But mine is gone. They took it... they destroyed it... I tried to protect it and failed” he dropped to his knees with a strangled sob, not noticing that Ludwig was aiming his weapon.

“Humans are destroying my forests!” Matthew cried out, trying to control himself enough to not cause harm to any of the vegetation around him. “I want them gone, I want them dead” he couldn’t help the tears in his eyed, and silently berated himself for showing weakness.

Matthew’s eyes narrowed and his hands glowed. Something rumbled in the distance and the very ground beneath Matthew seethed with anger. “Well I can’t deny that, you seem different from most, but the human race as a whole...” he let out a bitter laugh and shook his head.
