Advance Entertainment Law
Going into this class I had no expectation or areas that I really wanted to know as it relates to Entertainment Law. I really was looking to confirm the things I did know and learn things I didn’t know. The break down from last week lecture about starting a LLC vs INC was very insightful. Learning that when you go from a LLC to a INC you lose the history of the business. And the established time frame starts over and you could run into uses in the future. So, by starting a company as the entity that you want it initially is more beneficial in the long run. The overall class gave be insight on how well you need to protect your assets and know your liabilities and risk factors. It really made me want to slow down and really layout the foundation of the business. I was just talking to my Big Brother today about me slowing down the process and really researching the what my assets, liabilities and risk were with building Canla. Canla is my baby and I wanted to make sure I nurture Canla the right way so that Canla can grow up with a foundation, strength to move through anything and the longevity to excepted any expectations. To be honest I signed up for this Master Program because growing up I was told I wasn’t really going to amount to nothing more than the neighborhood I grew up in. But I was determined to prove them wrong and not be a statistic. Now through my grandparents being sick off and on. Us almost losing my grandfather at the end of last year and my grandmother getting sick a few months again. It took a toll on me, you see they adopted me when I was 5 years old. So, for me they are my parents. I’m the only one with a Bachelors, no Kids, worked to get a management position while in this program with Verizon Wireless. But to have a counselor email you and say “If you earn an A+ in your remaining courses and complete the Student Success Seminars, we can see where you are at by graduation and determine any additional options, if any.” The only part that hurt is the “if any” part. Then I thought about how I faced the same cross road in undergrad. I graded a semester later but I still graduated. Just because I might not receive a certificate of completion to put up on my wall for a Masters right now doesn’t mean I couldn’t get one in the future. I still finished all 12 classes. Yes, obstacles, family issues, and job obligations got in my way. But I’ve learned to never let that stop me from moving forwards. I went to one of the schools I’ve always wanted to go too Full Sail and I got to experience and learn so much even if I didn’t do so well on the assignments. Isn’t that what failure is? My failure in this program will be the steppingstone to my later success. I’ve learned several lessons about myself and how things could affect my performance. But I also learned that I need to practice time management and few other things. Overall, either way, I will never give up on getting a Master’s Degree. Even if it might not come from Full Sail due to my performance. But I will still feel good to say at least I finish all 12 classes of a Master Degree program. I know that great success depends on great risk. Getting loans was a great risk but success will still come because I will continue to push myself.

PAM
A few things I’ve learned in PAM is how important market research is and understanding the objectives of Canla. Looking at my competition on a larger and smaller scales to know where Canla is up against once it is released. Develop a list of what is need to get everything going. (contracts, trademarks, copyrights, and the launch date of the business).
The information learned in the class will definitely help me create a solid foundation to build Canla. Focusing on developing a strategic vision, goals and objectives for Canla. It started as a name and the logo evolved but not I know what I want to do with the brand. Once I strategically develop the vision. I will write my objective and then create goal or steps to achieve the create foundation of the vision. After the foundation is create, the vision of how the Canla will be marketed to their potential clients will be developed. I’m honestly excited to build this company. I am dedicated to taking my time in weighing out all the pros and cons of the business. It will operate from an independent stand point until the opportunities become main stream.
Overall, I believe this class really opened my eye to see how much I have ahead of me in building Canla. I’ve always wanted to work for a music publishing company and be on a team that listens to music and envision the type of commercial, film scene, or ads bits they would work best with but after getting turned down so many times. I thought about Tyler Perry, Issa Ray, Ryan Leslie and even Jay Z. Not allowing a ‘No’ stop them from becoming the celebs we see today. So, I will be putting in my 5000 hours to develop and build Canla. In hope to someday hire a team of individuals who believe in the vision and are down to continue building Canla toward its full potential.

Negotiation and Deal-Making
After retaking taking this class, I’ve continued to find this class very helpful in all my negotiation deals. It definitely continued to help me in my day to day work and internship environment. The tools that I have learned did help me to successfully land a manager position at my current place of work. Which helped me boost my confidence in negotiating deal. I was able to create a plan, work to make the plan come to life, and make myself known in a good way. But one thing I would say, once you get the job is one thing and the next is keep the position. With management position comes a lot of responsibility.
I’ve been able to turn a (34-40) box store into a (75- 100) box store in (2) months of being in my leadership. We are ranked as #1 in the District and my top performer is ranked as #1 in the District as well. We are now on track to be a profitable store. I consistently remind myself of the 30 - 60 – 90 plan that I submitted to get the position and how I need to make sure that I stay on top of everything. Learn the position and create a go to team and make history in the company.
If I remain a student I would definitely continue to grow into a master of my craft. I always learn something about myself as I go from class to class. I’m truly trying to figure out the work, life, balance. Not allowing work and life to distract me from focusing on the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is to graduate from this program, become a manager in corporate, and work my way up through the entertainment industry as a consultant/creative director. Owning a successful consulting firm is a dream of mine. The tools from this class will help me negotiate and navigate through this industry.
I look forward to finishing this programs.

Negotiation and Deal-Making
As I reflect on the things that I’ve learn in this class, I can’t help but think about how it helped me get promoted. The tools that I have learned help me to successfully land a manager position at my current place of work. I was able to create a plan, work to make the plan come to life, and make myself known in a good way. When your name begins to be a part of the conversations of the higher ups, you are making progress. That’s how I began to get recognized. I worked to accomplished things in areas that others lacked in. I worked to figure out how to grasp the attention of the decision makers.
Once I had their attention, I made mention of what my intention were with the company. Then I work hard some more and developed a positive name in my field of work. I was getting indorsements from other managers. Then I was time for me to send my plan of action and what I was expecting at the end of that plan. Once I sent that, I received a message stating that an opportunity would be coming available and it would be yours. I then began preparing for the levels of negotiation that needed to happen. After implementing the skills from this class. I was awarded a General Managers position. But things don’t stop here for me, now it’s time to really use the tool to build a solid team and build new relationships with the higher ups.
This class really opened my mind of new approaches when dealing with other people. Overall, I appreciate my professor and the feedback from the class.

When I first took this class I felt like my goal were changing. But know I know what my goals are and I’m passionate about rebranding not only myself but my clothing line. Taking this class has open my eyes to see who much time and effort that needs to go in the social media aspect of my brands. When searching for purpose things became very clear to me. I message that I would like to share with the world through my new brand. I would like to really take the necessary time to develop it and then share it with the world. Learning how to use Instagram as a business tool was super fascinating. Know that I can publish a post, monetize it and track its activity is helpful in building my customer base. I will allow me to see who my true followers are, and it will allow me to cater to them the most.
The three takeaways I took from the Instagram for business training was:
· How I could grow my business through this social media platform. Instagram is a great tool for developing analytics and seeing how the follower are engaging.
· The benefits of increasing the traffic through using hashtags that are related to my brands, also reposting and engaging with other post will help increase my brands presence.
· Lastly, being able to work smarter not harder by linking other social networks to my Instagram. That way one post can be shared with multiple platforms and I don’t have to repost to each individual platform.
These takeaways will truly help me to develop both of my new professional and personal branding, which make me super excited. Being able to analysis each individual post will be helpful seeing how my campaigns or promotions are being perceived by my followers. I can get more factual insight as to what is working on this platform and who like and commits on certain post. Another thing that I took away is something I would do later on down the line, which is advertising on Instagram. Being able to invest in my promotional post will help the visibility of my company and allow me to see what promotional post my followers are engaging with on this platform. I would have to create a budget that make since for were my company will be financially during that time. I feel it is important to make the necessary invests me to grow your business but not hurt your pockets in the process. Overall, the Instagram tool will be helpful for the new CManns brand and my Canla Brand.

Entertainment Business Finance: Wrap-Up
Initial when taking this class, it was during a time when I had a lot of family issues. I had to take a break and get somethings in order. I told myself that I would retake this class and do what was necessary to pass this class and not let anything keep me from graduating from Full Sail University. So, I made a plan and began to executing the plan. I have been doing well thus far and I am now at the end of the class and I was in a better head space to really learn the business as aspect of finance. My situation reminded me of the opportunity cost assignment. I had to weigh out my options as this family matter was happening. I had to look at all my alternative. And taking a break to come back strong and better to finish out school was the best decision.
Some of the lessons that I learned during this process I feel has made me strong for sure. But not only that, it allowed me to stop, think, be patience, and develop a plan of action. A lot of people race through life not getting anywhere, allowing obstacle to crush them. But if they would do like my mentor says, “Pray. Focus. Plan. Execute” (Symbolyc One, ‘S1’) then the outcome would feel like a big setback. This slogan can work in both your person and professional life.
The information taught in the class gave me a better understanding of what steps are need in building a small business. It is imperative to have a final plan and structure in place before you get thing going with your business. It is a lot of small business that fold because they don’t take the time to really develop and they end up doing thing prematurely. Overall, I really enjoyed taking Mr. Woodward’s class. He is a great professor and very knowledgeable.

The goals that I have set for myself to be honest I feel are changing. The things that I was once passionate about I no longer feel as passionate about them now. I have begun to search for my purpose again to get myself on track again. Life’s obstacles tried to consume me and get me off track. During this newfound journey of getting on track, I found that digital marketing as it relates to social media marketing, interest me. With building Canla Brand, I found Facebook marketing course to be beneficial toward the development of my new positive brand.
The three takeaways I took from the course was first learning about the different ad types as it relates to my brand. This will help me engage and bring awareness to my brand. Next would be understanding how my ad campaign is doing by using the ad manager to get reports. This breaks down how my followers are engaging with my campaign. This is beneficial in helping me learn what campaigns are targeting more of my target audience. When I create a campaign for the launch of my brand, know the type of campaign to create will help me enhance my chance of generating traffic for my brand. Lastly, the third take away would be creating a budget for ad space on Facebook. Investing in a better reach of potential customers will be worth it. These take ways will help me develop in both my professional and personal journey’s. Being able to maximize my impressions for whatever campaign or movement I am presenting will help in the growth of my professional and personal brands. Canla is a brand that I am very passionate about and I look forward to utilizing Facebook and all it has to offer from marketing my brand.

What’s the Next Step?
After gaining knowledge on how to build a personal brand as well as an organizational brand. I think the next three step would be to:
1. Look over the business plan and seeing if it lines up with the brand for the ‘Behind the Lyric’ songwriting camp.
2. Evaluate my personal brand and make sure it aligns with my overall vision as a future mogul or influencer in business.
3. Prepare for the next course which is Entertainment Business Finance. Learning more about the financial principles will only help me further my career in the Entertainment industry.

Business Storytelling & Brand Development Mastery Journal Entry.
Today, I would like to discuss what I’ve learned over the course of this month. I’ve learned that ‘branding is a one of the most important aspects of any business, large or small, retail of b2b. An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets…Simply put, your brand is your promise to your customer.’ (The Basics of Branding., May, 2005.) As I began this journey of creating the ‘Behind the Lyric’ songwriting camp, all I wanted to focus on was the experience the campers i.e. the songwriters. The tools I’ve gain in the class was more than enough information to effectively build a brand that will help our team to provide the best experience.
The purpose of the camp is to provide a creative space to gain knowledge, learn about new products, network with the established guest, build with other writers and gain exposure. Creating a brand that exemplifies the purpose is very important. Why? Because if the campers don’t have a great experience and feel they have gotten their monies worth, what reason would they have to come back and bring another writer. Each year the vision is to get bigger and better. In doing so comes the sponsorships, donations, bigger named special guest, and much more.
Then there is my personal brand, which is just as important. According to Wikipedia, personal branding is defined as being ‘essentially the ongoing process of establishing a prescribed image or impression in the mind of others about an individual, group, or organization.’ (Wikipedia., April, 2017.) This is key ‘personal branding often involves the application of one’s name to various products.’ (Wikipedia., April 2017.) Overall, perception is reality and how others perceive me is important. I am the face behind the brand. My actions indirectly and directly affect the culture of anything that I am attached too.
I believe that cultivating a positive vibe is everything. Your aura can illustrate a lot your personality. Ex: if you are not comfortable being around my aura, what makes you think that I will gain supporters or participants of what I’m working to build? I’ve learn from my mentors about having a strong faith, doing good business, building the right relationships and being aware of those around you at all times. If you remain focus on the right path in building your personal brand, your aura will exude positivity and attract it as well.

What I’ve Learned?
Project and Team Management has taught me the importance of time management. It’s not only important to development a plan for a project but account for the time management portion of building it. I ran into any moment of not completing a task on time because of work, life, and school balance. We must account for time within out projects. Self- evaluation and team evaluation was big for me this month. Learning to not only work independently but effectively in a group. Learning my person and professional behaviors was very insightful. Recognizing my strength and weaknesses was big as well. Some big take ways were time management, consistency, learning your team’s behaviors, knowing yourself as a leader and the steps to building a successful project. The breakdown of this course really opened my eyes to how much I can improve as a project manager and how to cultivate a solid team. These are all tools that can help me both my professional and personal career.
Overall, I appreciate the course and looking back at day on until now I realized that I’ve grown to know more about myself and my team members. I plan to really build this camp in Dallas. I honestly feel like that there is a need for this camp. When taking this class, my goal was to learn how to build a solid foundation when creating a project and I was able to learn to adapt, learn and build. It was inspirational reading about other aspiration and dream through the coarse as well. Reading how passionate other are about their projects only push me to want to accomplish my project. To one day see the songwriting camp come to life is a big deal and this class help me create the foundation. I wish everyone the best on their projects and I look forward to the camp being fully staffed and functional very soon.

Leadership Mastery Journal Post
As I read the dynamic differences between the leadership styles of Greene and Maxwell. I can’t help but think of my style as being more of how Maxwell defines a leader. He states that “Real leadership is being the person others will gladly and confidently follow.” (Maxwell, 1993, pg. 5). I feel that my mindset is open to impact, inspire and ignite that inner fire in those around me. Maxwell seems to tap into other’s psyche in regards to influence. He states that “Leadership is influence” (Maxwell, 1993, pg.1) Based on a cause you can gain followers who you can develop into leaders’ overtime. After reading Robert Greene’s, 48 Laws of Power, I see why the laws are important but it’s definitely something that I should incorporate in order to be more successful in a competitive environment.
Positivity, energies, and attitudes are things that I am aware of in different working environments. I will be starting a new job next month. I will be working for a commission based job that can become very competitive. My personality is about impacting others but I don’t want to lose myself to where I don’t complete my personal goals along my journey. By starting a new job I’m ecstatic to implement Maxwell’s theories but I’m excited to put Greene’s laws into action. This will not only help me grow but help me to develop a stronger leadership style that will help me maneuver within the industry. Maxwell talks about influence, integrity, problem solving, attitude, and people. Those chapters opened my mind to a new approach moving forward with my journey to working within the industry.
Overall the things that I’ve learned overtime helped me get to this point but the tools that I’m learning from these two books will help me advance in my level of success.

Robert Greene:
•“…during the Apprenticeship Phase you will need mentors whose authority you recognize and to whom you submit.” (Greene 103) •The best mentors are often those who have wide knowledge and experience, and are not overly specialized in their field—they can train you to think on a higher level, and to make connections between different forms of knowledge. (Greene 106) •The good ones allow you to develop your own style and then to leave them when the time is right. (Greene 107)
