I know this definitely not how we wanted this to end, but in hindsight, this is crazy. Going into this year, it was a rebuild. We've got tons of cap space for next season and plenty of picks. THIS WAS A REBUILD YEAR and we still made the ECF and DIDNT GET SWEPT!!! It speaks to our talent and future talent that we made the ECF in a rebuild year.

I have a lot of feelings about people calling the Canes boring bc until I started paying attention to Canes hockey I was one of them.

But like if you want to see your team shoot the damn puck at the net even if it isn’t an amazing chance on goal? Canes hockey

If you want quick passing that moves the puck out of your zone and to the other teams zone? Canes hockey

Insane penalty kill? Canes hockey

Short-handed goal attempts not just getting it out of the zone? Canes hockey

Lack of dirty hits but a team that is willing and ready to fight for each other? Canes hockey

Very very passionate coach? Canes hockey

I used to think that they were the most boring team in the NHL. I was sooo incredibly pissed about the Mikko trade. I didn’t want him if it meant losing Logan Stankoven to a team that I had labeled boring in my head. I was gonna watch one game, be a massive hater and go on with life. But then I watched the first game he was playing after the deadline and Canes hockey was so much fun if you pay attention to the Canes. And all the things that I loved about Logan’s hockey were things that the canes do consistently. He should have been a canes rookie bc he belongs in that system. But I’m really glad he was a stars rookie bc otherwise I wouldn’t have learned that

A. National broadcasts are bad in general and absolute dog shit for the Canes.

B. I like the way they play hockey

C. They have really good social media that the players buy into so the videos show personality and make the team all that more endearing. 

And I just can’t stop feeling like if the people that wrote the canes off gave them half a chance where they watched the canes (especially with local broadcast) they would fall in love with the team.
