Reblog and put in the tags the highest and lowest temperatures you've ever experienced
#i think the hottest was about 42C (107.6F) not including the high humidex#could have been higher a different time im thinking of but not nearly as humid#coldest would be around -45C or so (-49F) but easily into the mid -50s with windchill (-67Fish)#usually a couple times per winter tho not this last one#i feel like people usually figure the northern prairies get cold but don't know we get pretty hot (and more importantly very humid) too#Manitoba Canada

Have you ever asked yourself: “What does the skunk say?” unmute to find out
#ive had almost the exact same scenario happen to me#skunks are charmingly bold in their curiosity given they can be pretty damn confident others won't want to mess with them#if you just stay still like that its a perfectly lovely interaction#so nice to get to see them and esp the babies so close!

Turret spider burrows
These unique spiders, found only in California, build small towers out of soil, plant matter, and silk. Each turret houses one spider, and the structure serves to both protect the spider and to help it detect vibrations from prey. Turret spiders are nocturnal, so it's rare to actually see one.
Their closest relatives are tarantulas and trapdoor spiders, which together form the mygalomorphs, a relatively "primitive" lineage of spiders.
Atypoides riversi, Santa Cruz Mountains, California
